How do I disable autofilling in searches?

I hate autofilling in searches and as much as I tried, I couldn't disable it so any time I start typing in Google or YouTube or any other search it autofills with my recent searches and it is really annoying sometimes... Is there anyway to do that?

I'm not 100% positive if this is functional in the Windows beta (it is on the Mac, and will at least eventually be so in Windows), but under Edit->Preferences->Auto Fill there should be a checkbox called "Other Forms". If you uncheck it, then it Safari won't fill in forms for you. Also, you can click the "Edit..." button to the right of the checkbox and remove individual websites from the list, instead of disabling auto fill for all websites.

How do I disable the "Quick Search" feature?

I don't need or want the Quick Search function on Firefox. Simply deleting the Quick Search bookmarks folder doesn't get rid of it because it automatically reappears as soon as I restart Firefox. How do I disable this feature altogether?

Here's what worked for me.
Right click in the toolbar area to get the toolbar customization menu. That is, right click just to the right of the "Help" button on the Menu Bar.
You'll see:
Menu Bar,
Navigation Toolbar,
Bookmarks Toolbar
These three may or may not have check marks, but you want to click on the fourth item, below the line, "customize".
Left click the customize button and the "customize toolbar" window appears. Click and hold the "quick search" and drag it into the customize window and release. Quick search should settle itself into the customize toolbar window, patiently waiting if you ever decide you might want it again. : )

I've found all sorts of people asking this for the desktop version, but what about for mobile? The autofill information gets in the way of the rest of the screen on phones, so is more harmful than useful, and I'd like to disable it, but I can't figure out how. Thanks.

To disable form fill in Firefox for Android:
# Type "about:config" in the Firefox location bar, and press Enter or Go
# Search for "formfill"
# Tap on the "browser.formfill.enable" preference, then press the toggle switch to change it from "true" to "false"

How do I disable/uninstall "Quick Search" in Status Bar?

I want to disable/uninstall the "Quick Search" box that pops up in my Status Bar in Firefox 23.0.1 Right now I'm having an issue with an "erratic cursor" (Windows 8...YUCK!!!!). I start typing in the address bar in a new tab, or in Google search bar, and my cursor floats all over the screen without my knowledge. In the middle of typing my search, the cursor will somehow "trigger" the "Quick Search" box, and suddenly, my words end up being typed there. I found out that this "erratic cursor" is a documented issue with the Lenovo G585 laptop, and until I find out how to fix it, I REALLY want to stop "Quick Search" from opening unless I ask it to open.
How do I stop "Quick Search" from opening?

How can i disable the ~3 search "guesses" in the location bar, above the suggestions from my history?

In the new version of Firefox, when I start typing something to the address bar, instead of showing suggestions from my history, it shows ~3 "popular search strings", as in Google search bar (for example if i type 'a', it shows aol, aol mail and amazon). I find this feature very irritating, is there a way I can disable the seach guesses, so I can browse in my history pages like before?

How do I disable Autofill?

Can anyone tell me how I get rid of this awful Autofill feature? I hit the Autofill button by mistake, and now I have piles of useless mp3 ghost files cluttering up my iphone and there is apparently no way to turn this thing off. Please, please, please help me before I just throw my computer off a cliff.

How can I disable synchronization of search input fields between different applications?

This feature, as I'm assuming it is, is really starting to rub me a very wrong way...
Whenever I write anything in the search field of what seems to be any application in OS X, the input I write in the search field is being copied to any other application's search field. E.g., I'm searching in iTerm for text in log outputs, then I go to Sublime Text and write a regexp in the search field. The search field there now already contains what I wrote to iTerm's search field. The regexp I start writing likewise migrates to iTerm's search input whenever I return to it, destroying my search session there. I then go to Safari to search the Perl regexp documentation to help me with the expression I'm currently assembling in Sublime's find input. When I return to Sublime, my regexp is wiped with the input I made in Safari's search input, so that I have to start over completely creating my regular expression.
It's incredibly frustrating, and I'm really hoping that this "feature" can be turned off, but I cannot figure out where, if at all?
Does any one of you know?

No matter which bookmark i click on or url i type, firefox connects to yahoo!search, and even from there i cannot connect to the desired webpage. how can i get yahoo!search permanently disabled?

since this morning [1 may] i cannot connect to any bookmarked or other url [except the firefox homepage?!], because the only connection made is to yahoo!search. and even when yahoo!search displays the search result correctly to the site i want to go on, if i click on that i only get returned to yahoo!search again. since i prefer not to use yahoo!search at all, how can i disable yahoo!search permanently?

There are other things that need your attention.
Check that you do not run Firefox in compatibility mode or with a reduced screen resolution.
You can open the Properties of the Firefox desktop shortcut via the right-click context menu and check the "Compatibility" tab.
Make sure that all items are deselected in the "Compatibility" tab of the Properties window.
You can check if you have the XML files of the default search engines including Google in the browser\searchplugins folder in the Firefox program folder.
If not then you need to reinstall Firefox.
Try to delete the search.json file and possible search-metadata.json and search.sqlite files in the Firefox profile folder to reset the search engines to the default.

Firefox will rebuild the search.json file from the default search engines in the "browser\searchplugins" folder in the Firefox program folder and the searchplugins folder in the Firefox profile folder.

How do I DISABLE iTunes Autofill?

I inadvertently hit Autofill in iTunes. Now each & every time I connect my iDevice {iPhone 5} via USB I'm givern a duplicate mp3 of my entire library in a non-playable format.
I've checked though the Apple site and the only support I was able to find was on how to use Autofill.
The Autofill button itself is just a button, not a toggle switch. Their is no checkbox to deselect. Within the Settings button right next to Autofill I've deseleted all checkboxes.
The iTunes> Preferences> Devices and checking the box "Prevent iDevices from syncing automatically" {now I have to "manually" open iTunes when I connect} hasn't resolved my issue either.
Just how do I disable Autofill once & for all?

not sure if you are still having this issue but heres how i got itunes to behave.
first you want to go to your music library and make sure all your music is unticked this will stop automaticly synching songs (just to be carefull) then going into the music section for your phone in itunes and untick sync music.
then you want to go into the summary of your phone in itunes and tick manually manage music and videos.
then go into the music section for your phone in itunes where autofill is and select settings. from here you drag the slider so all the space is reserved. this wwill prevent itunes synching the autofill tracks (they show in grey but wont sync) from there you just drag albums you want from the library music section to where it says your iphone .

How can I disable awesomebar search/keyword suggestions on FF 3.6?

I am on FF 3.6. I'm trying to find a way to disable the AwesomeBar search/keyword suggestions. I have gone through tools -> options -> privacy -> location bar. I have tried setting the location bar set to show only history, bookmarks, or even none, but it still shows keyword search suggestions. How can I disable this?
I have also tried from about:config, setting maxrichresults to 0. Again, that is not what I'm looking for. I want it to show history and bookmarks, but I do not want keyword search suggestions.

I'm pretty sure the poster doesn't want to disable the keyword search functionality. What they want is for keyword searches to work, but just not be displayed (or at least not displayed as the automatic first option) on the list of location bar suggestions when typing a new URL.

That was how keyword search bookmarks worked in FF3.5, if I recall, and I too would like that behavior back. I haven't found any way to train the awesomebar to not show me keyword search bookmarks.
