Whenever I purchase an item on my Apple TV, it automatically begins downloading in iTunes. I would really like to not download all those episodes of My Little Pony that my boyfriend bought unless I specifically tell it to, but there's no way to turn off automatic downloading for tv shows or movies, only apps and books and music. This has killed my connectivity repeatedly due to unexpected background bandwidth issues...

Gavin, Hi dude. I have the same problem you have!!! If I download 1 song it puts a cloud next to every song on my Ipod and downloads all of the songs already on the ipod . Some songs I will have 5 or 6 of the same song. I was told by a nice gentle man that I need to change my ios setteing My music has been purchased on my computer and the ios setting is on Automatic downloads . that is why it asks to download the same songs in to my IOS device. Gavin, are you getting your music, games, and tv shows off of your computer? The nice gentleman told me my IOS is on Automatic download. And that is why it keeps downloading everything again. I have a very similar problem in that purchases I make on the ATV are shuttled off to my computer even before I have a chance to watch them. Nothing remains on the AppleTV except (strangely) a show I bought from iTunes months before I ever got the ATV. In order to watch anything, I have to either leave my computer turned off between the time I order and watch it; or I have to have my computer on in order to stream the show back to the ATV. I like the idea of syncing with the computer as a backup solution, but the ATV should be designed to prefer to keep unwatched material on its hard drive until some threshold storage level has been reached, and then it should move off older shows to make room for newer ones.

I had the same problem, then I changed the order of the languages in intl.accept_languages (about:config), so that the list now begins with en.
It's all working properly know, also on imbb in particular.

I am going to have to use Firefox version 28 forever, exposing myself to many security risks in the process, because I do not like the drastic redesign of the interface in version 29 and Mozilla have not included an option to switch to the old interface.
Many support forum posts argue that bringing back the old interface is a 'simple' matter, but it is not. I have spent many hours on two PCs so far, fiddling with the recommended third-party add-ons (e.g. Classic Theme Restorer) in the attempt to get the browser looking the old way again. I can ascertain with confidence that it is NOT possible to get things looking exactly as they did before, and certainly not looking like the particular customized setup I had myself.
I have now re-installed version 28, and intend to continue using it indefinitely. However, automatic updates are still enabled, and Firefox has already tried to update itself to version 29 again. How can I disable automatic updates for good? I have tried some tricks like deleting the update files and then removing the update URL in about:config, but a new update was still downloaded somehow.

It is true that the Classic Theme Restorer add-on will NOT bring back all of your customized settings/appearance on Firefox 28, but it will help a little It's recommended that you stay on the latest version to receive the latest security fixes and bug patches but you're free to downgrade if you want.
You can set these prefs in <code>about:config</code> to disable automatic updating: 
app.update.auto - false 
app.update.enabled - false 
app.update.silent - false

It's the Resume feature.
When choosing Restart, Sleep or Shutdown there is a checkbox you can uncheck to prevent the apps from launching.
Also in System Preferences > General there is a hard-to-find checkbox under "Number of recent items" you can turn off.
Also, you can hold the shift key to disable resume on a one time basis.
You can turn off Resume globally by going to ~/Library/Saved Application State and deleting that folder.
(note that the User Library is hidden - one way to get there is to go to your Finder "Go" menu hold the option key to choose "Library")
To turn off autosave and versions globally
If you're experiencing slow opening apps or windows since upgrading to ML... as I have... and you don't want your OS to automatically save your TextEdit files, etc. then simply disable Autosave and Versions via Terminal.
If you don't want autosave or resume you can copy & paste this command into Terminal at the prompt...

I ran across a web site that was part of a scam. It pretended to be one of the security programs on my computer and reported that my Computer had malware (it was the malware). The only way out and not activate the scam program was to use the Windows Task Manager to kill Firefox.
When you do this the next time Firefox is started it tries to reload the last pages visited including the bad web site. How do I disable this feature? Or force Firefox to ask me which pages to load every time.
Automatic should not be allowed because of these scams. Fortunately I had a work around, I pulled the network cable when I restarted Firefox causing a different failure that could be cleared.

Set the pref [http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes] to 0 on the about:config page to get the about:sessionrestore page immediately with the first restart after a crash has occurred or the Task Manager was used to close Firefox.
That will allow you to deselect the tab(s) that you do not want to reopen, but will allow to reopen the other tabs.

button. Inside each frame, many movie clips are generated
dynamically at runtime, and they can be played interactively.
I achieves the step-by-step display of those frames by adding
another layer with the action stop(). But I got one trouble: all
the movie clips from previous frames are accumalted. How to remove
the accumulation from previous frames?
For the continuous display of the movie, I tried to use
onEnterFrame() and change the _visible property of all the movie
clips to false in this function. But it doesn't work for the
step-by-step display. Once I click the next button, the movie clips
at the current frame just show very quickly, then disappear. What
should I do?
I need to fix this immediately.

Open General preferences pane. Check the desireable options here:
When you shut down your computer a dialog will appear asking if you want to re-open applications at startup. Uncheck that option.
