How do I disable cookies before visiting a particular web site and reinstate them after the visit?

I am using Firefox 6.0.2 on an Apple Mac running OS 10.5.8. I want to discover how the site I am visiting behaves when it is accessed by a stranger.

You could visit the site in [[Private Browsing|Private Browsing mode]] .
The site will not have access to any cookies that were set outside of Private Browsing - it will be as if you are visiting for the first time. Any cookies the site makes will be lost when exiting Private Browsing.

How do I close a web site and get back to the home page?

When I click the close button on a web page I end up at the desktop with no visible means of using other sites. When I click on the fire fox logo again I am told that I am already connected. When I use the back button instead of the close button to get to the home page and then shutdown my computer to start over I get the oops page asking if I want to restore web pages that I thought were closed.

Make sure that you type in the location bar and not in the Google search bar.
* Make sure that you have the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" visible: "View > Toolbars"
* If items are missing then see if you can find them in the "View > Toolbars > Customize" window
* If you see the item in the Customize window then drag it back from the Customize window to one of the toolbars.
* If, in "View > Toolbars > Customize", you do not see that item then click the "Restore Default Set" button

I want to work on my web-site and switch back and forth between the public view and the admin view but Firefox keeps closing one of them - how do I disarm this?

Before upgrading to this version of Firefox I could simultaneously have my public version and my admin version of my web-site open. I could make changes in the admin version and then check to make sure the public version registered and displayed the changes just as I wanted them. Now it keeps switching so both of them are public or both of them are admin. I want to know how to disarm this function. Thanks!

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

If your computer is on one minute before it freezes, than you have one minute to secure your serial number.
click the apple----->click about this Mac ------> click on version----> until you see the serial number. You may have to do this a couple of times if it freezes before you have all the numbers. A camera might help.

Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app
    •    Tap on Wi-Fi
    •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

My client has a web site she uses as a blog. It was built in iweb. I am redesigning it and want to use Dreamweaver. I am trying to research how to get started, I've only done static web sites so far. Any recommendations? She needs to be able to update content and does not have Dreamweaver. Not sure if this is possible. Please advise. BTW- she currently has a site so she is not interested in changing to a blogging service.

If her server supports PHP and MySql databases, use WordPress to build the site. WP is a powerful open source (free), CMS and blogging ware that's widely supported by many hosts.
