How do I disable dynamic contrast ratio?

For the onboard monitor on an X230. (ips)
latest intel drivers. When i noticed it, i checked all video settings and found it had "dynamic contrast" enabled. Disabled it, but it still does it in a normal windows environment.
Load a black or dark screen, the brightness shoots way down. Switch to white, it starts out really dim and scales back to what it should be.
Really annoying.

disable "Display Power Saving Technology" also.

  • How to disable dynamic fan speed?

    I have MSI 865P Neo. How to disable dynamic fan speed?

    jpscwf:  Personaly I always keep my fans on maximum anyway so I havn't tried saving settings at a lower level, better to have too much cooling anyway, rather than have your chip burn up..
    netreaper:  I may be wrong, but if your not running the corecell program then I don't think the fan speeds are adjusted.  In any case, follow the instructions I gave above, and set both the fan speeds to maximum, that way you allways get the maximum cooling possible.  Problem solved.

  • Contrast Ratio: What does it mean?

    Actually what does contrast ratio mean? Nowadays many monitors boast a contrast ration of millions to one, while my 5-year-old 30" Cinema HD Display has a contrast ratio of 700:1. In practice, what difference does it make?

    Contrast ratio is how many times brighter a white area is than a black area on the screen. 700:1 is good. Many companies advertise dynamic contrast. That is the ratio of white brightness with the brightness control at maximum, to black with the brightness control at minimum. This gives a much larger number than the real contrast ratio, but it is a meaningless number.

  • How do I disable all non-essential components in the CS6 installer

    A new question in the spirit of http://forums.adobe.com/thread/548877 and http://forums.adobe.com/message/2778575, where I asked this question for CS4 and CS5 and eventually discovered how to do this (at least for CS4; CS5 was a mess...): How do I disable all the non-essential components in the Photoshop CS6 installer?
    I already found the payloads/Media_db.db sqlite 3 database and wiped the DependencyData table. This goes a long way - unlike CS5, which was a maze of hidden xml configs and sqlite databases, for CS6 just wiping this single table will give the user full control over what the installer will put in the computer. With the dependencies wiped, we can now see all the stuff it's actually going to install:
    Bridge (normal and x64) - 187 and 262 MB
    CMaps (normal and x64) - 7.2 and 7.2 MB
    CSXS Extensions - 1.3MB
    CSXS Infrastructure - 6.8MB
    Color - photoshop, EU, JA, NA - 1.5, 2.1, 3.0, 2.5MB
    Video profiles - 4.7KB
    Dynamic Link Media Server - 96MB
    DynamicLink Support - 6.1MB
    ExtendScript Toolkit - 19MB
    Extension Manageer - 16MB
    Fonts recommended (normal and x64) - 110 and 110MB (why are there x86 and x64 versions? more of an open question than one that really needs an answer, but this is not how fonts work. There are no separate x86 and x64 flavoured OpenType fonts)
    Fonts required (normal and x64) - 123 and 123MB
    Hunspell Linguistics Plugin (normal and x64) - 181 and 181MB
    Linguistics (normal and x64) - 46 and 46MB
    Mini Bridge (normal and x64) - 4.0MB
    PDF Library Files (normal and x64) - 75 and 75MB
    Photoshop (normal and x64) - 486 and 563MB
    Photoshop Support - 9.4MB
    Player for Embedding 3.3 (normal and x64) - 21 and 26MB
    Switchboard 2.0 - 1.1MB
    Type Support (normal and x64) - 6 and 6MB
    Winsoft Linguistics Plugin (normal and x64) - 8.2 and 8.5MB
    XMP Panels - 4.9MB
    ColorCommonSetCMYK - 13MB
    ColorCommonSetRGB - 8.6KB
    Camera Profiles Installer - 285MB
    MSVC++2005 redist. (normal and x64) - 11 and 11MB
    MSVC++2008 redist. (normal and x64) - 11 and 11MB
    MSVC++2010 redist. (normal and x64) - 11 and 11MB
    MSVC80_CRT (normal and x64) - 0.0 and 0.0KB
    PDF Settings - 2.4MB
    Camera Raw 7  (normal and x64) - 22 and 24MB
    Suite Shared Configuration - 3.2MB
    Some of these things we really want installed (Photoshop, CMaps, XMP panels, Type Support and required fonts and color profiles are pretty much the minimal set required for a functional Photoshop installation), but some of these things really have no right to be silentedly installed. There's a good gigabyte of nonsense that someone who just wants Photoshop has no need for. Denying them the option to unselect these things during installation is a bit evil (whatever happened to the 'advanced' or 'custom' installation option? That was a good option).
    That said, there's still something funky going on - unselecting all components indicates that the installation will required 0.0KB on disk. However, selecting Photoshop CS6 x64, which indicates its size is 563MB, results in an installation that requires 677MB on disk. Similar things happen for other components; CMaps is 7.2MB, but when you select it, it suddenly requires 121MB on disk.
    Much last last time, I fully appreciate the install team's choices in making sure the installer will always work as long as people don't tamper with it, but I'm not one of those people - I do tamper with it, because I want to control exactly what lands on my disk. So: how do I find out what these secret things are that are not listed after wiping the dependency data so that I can explicitly pick individual components? Which additional steps are required to reveal the hidden dependencies that will apparently still be installed, or aren't factored into the size indication for the various components? And finally, how do I make the installer NOT determine that "this is not a genuine installer, you may have a counterfeit product" =)
    I know it's been altered; I modified it, because I think your install process is trying to force stuff onto my computer that I never asked for, nor will ever use (I know they're quality products, they just have no right to exist on my computers. If I had the choice to say no, I'd acknowledge them as quality products instead).

    NB: if Eric Wilde ends up replying to this post: I still remember your willingness to help figure this out for CS5, two years ago. Thank you again for that.

    I can see why you wouldn't want to release information that lets people set up arbitrary installers, but that's why I mostly wanted those two specific hashes. The installer team can just generate them without ever saying how, and we will only be able to use them to validate the installer for the modification that lets you pick components. This should in no way interfere with the desire to prevent dangerous installers making it into the wild; in fact, it kind of guarantees that's impossible.
    I know you can't guarantee it'll work or test it, and that's fine. Past experience has shown that CS3, CS4 and CS5 work fine with updates (and most updates don't apply to Photoshop, they apply to the additional components that I traditionally don't install), so I'm pretty sure it'll work fine with CS6 too, although of course it could go wrong in which case I can always fall back to a normal install.
    Would you be willing to ask the install team whether they could generate just these two numbers, based on the single SQL command run on Media_db.db from the main payload directory? I can fully understand not wanting to give the "here is how you generate the hashes" information, but generating two specific numbers that don't work for anything but this specific query should be just as safe as the various hashes we can already see for the other Media_db.db files in the various payload directories (so they wouldn't reveal anything not already known about how to reverse engineer the hashing algorithm). It'd help tech-savvy customers quite a bit without playing into the hands of criminally minded jerks (I actually had the pleasure of running into a duped CS3 Extended disc several years ago! I had ordered CS3 for personal use, and mysteriously received a CS3 extended version with a volume licensing key in what looked like an official normal CS3 box. Needless to say, authorities and Adobe were notified).
    <<I think the right answer to this issue is to simply remove from the products those items that are not required to execute the product. That's actually something we're aggressively pursuing this summer so that the product size reduces in future releases, particularly for PS.>>
    It's not possible to take components out of the payloads directory without the installer complaining that errors have occurred. It really wants all those files there when it starts =(
    <<Have you investigated using AAMEE? I don't think that will get rid of all the "extraneous" pieces; but, it does provide some flexibility in creating an install package that can then be pushed out through normal deployment tools (e.g. SCCM).>>
    I did, but unfortunately AAMEE requires the use of a volume license key, which I don't have. We only have individual products keys for the machines that will get Photoshop CS6.

  • How do I make dynamic text look static while the HMTL tagging is enabled?

    Hi all,
    I am using flash 8 with AS 2.0.
    I have a dynamic text field where I am setting it's text value through a variable. Now, I need this dynamic text field content to look like static font on runtime. I tried embedding the text field but that makes my file so heavy and most importantly, it disables the HTML tagging on the text field.
    Please suggest me on how to make a dynamic text field content look static on runtime while the HTML tagging is enabled and working fine.
    Thanks.

    I am sorry. But the attachment was not intended for what you
    thought my friend.
    It was there so that there are no confusions for what I mean by look of dynamic and static text fields.

  • MSI GT72 2QE Dynamic Contrast

    The dynamic contrast on my laptop is driving me crazy, and I can't seem to find a way to disable it.  I disabled both adaptive brightness in power settings, as well as dynamic contrast enhancement and color enhancement in nvidia control panel, to no avail.  Has anyone found a way to disable this?

    Can you share more details of your problem?
    Are you having single monitor or two monitors?
    What programs are you running when the problem appears? (watching movie?/playing games?)
    What's the graphics driver version? (Intel/NVIDIA)

  • Disabling dynamic reloading

    Hi, i'm using iWS 6.0 SP2 on solaris 8 and i don't know how to disable dynamic reloading of classes. I have tried to set the reload-interval parameter to a negative number, to set the class-loader classpath parameter to "", but it still reloads the classes.
    The only thing i can think of is setting the reload-interval to a huge number, but there must be another way.
    Juan

    It's always Microsoft who gets blaimed ;-)
              First, I am almost certain that any OS will not let you copy a file if there
              is an opened file descriptor of the file owned by some other process.
              Second, luckily the class loader code that handles this is pure Java, so it
              takes advantage of garbage collection here: if there is a live reference to
              an object, it's not going to be freed under you.
              Hope this helps.

  • How to enable/disable a button in Photoshop panel?

    Anyone know how you'd create the proper code in a Photoshop extension panel so that certain buttons in the panel could be enabled or disabled dynamically as needed?

    Hi Sonunew2flex,
    Write one public function in main application file as below...
    // In main application file
    public function changeButtonDisableStatus(bool:Boolean):void
         yourNuutonId.enabled = bool;
    //In your hear renderer do this
    if(cb.selected=true)

  • To disable Dynamic templates in OTL

    Hi,
    There are 3 dynamic templates available in OTL viz. Project Assignments, Work Schedule & Last Period Timecard.
    How can we disable these templates? I just need to use the Last Period Timecard, I want to disable the rest of the templates from the user.
    I am unable to deactivate these timecards from the lookup HXC_DYNAMIC_TEMPLATES as the fields are protected against update.
    Is there any other way? Please advise.
    Thanks

    I can suggest a number of options. But I have not tried this, so it may be that none of them give you what you want!
    You could make the 'last timecard' the default template by using the preference Self Service Default Template Assigned by Sys Admin. You could combine this with removing the tempate functionality (i.e. having the choice displayed to the user) byusing the preference I previously mentioned. This combination might give you the desired effect.
    Or, you could try setting the enabled flag to 'not enabled' on the lookup HXC DYNAMIC TEMPLATES. Although this is a 'system' lookup, you can update the flag from the 'back end'. I wouldn't recommend this as it wouldn't be supported, but it might be worth a try.
    Or, you could look into the ViewObject which controls the way the list of values for templates is displayed in the LDT file for the timecard. You m,ay be able to control which values are displayed by amending this VO.
    Let me know if any of these options work!
    Regards
    Tim

  • How to fetch Quartile and Comp Ratio columns

    Hello all
    How to fetch Quartile and Comp Ratio columns which are present in Enter and maintain -> Assignment screen -> Salary screen.Are they direct columns from any table or calculation columns.
    Someone please suggest me how to fetch those columns
    Thanks in advance

    Can anyone help me in writing a procedure/dynamic SQL to fetch the column where the junk values appears and its value. Eg: If emp table contains ID and Name columns, and ID column contains junk values, the result should be the Id column and the junk value/s. It should be dynamic because next time if the other column contains junk values(like $,%...), the query should display the other column too..1. define "junk" values.
    2. usually it does not matter what values are in ID, because it is used internally by application, to maintain uniqueness or relations, not having any semantical meaning. End users usually should not see IDs, such IDs are generated automatically. There is no need to cleanse them from "junk" values.
    3. If you made a typo, and you are looking for "junk" values in Name column, it is a different story. You can use TRANSLATE to search such values, as already advised, translating all "junk" characters to one "junk" character and searching for the latter.
    select id, name from T where translate(name,'?@#$%^<>','~~~~~~~~~') like '%~%';

  • How can I disable taskbar transparency in windows 8 RTM?

    how can I disable taskbar transparency in windows 8 RTM?

    Seems to me there's very little merit in the colors of the High Contrast themes!  :-)
    Try it this way instead:
    Right-click on the desktop and choose Personalize.
    Select an Aero theme first.
    Save a new named theme with a name something like "Aero Lite"
    Navigate to the following folder and edit the .theme file just created:
    %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Themes
    Scroll down to the [VisualStyles] section near the bottom.
    Change the Path= filename from Aero.msstyles to AeroLite.msstyles
    In Personalize, go select another theme then this theme again.
    That gives you this:
    Only downside I've seen so far with this is that when dragging and dropping things in File Explorer the icons that appear with the cursor are no longer partially transparent, so you end up have to guess just a little where you're dropping them.

    Hi ,
    How can I disable POST GOODS RECEIPT button in VL31N/VL32N .
    Its because, we wanted to use VL06I  to do PGR insted of VL32N.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    if you have a look at program SAPMV50A then you can see that routine cua_exclude_dynamic is used to disable buttons dynamically. If you are on ECC6.0 then you can use implicit enhancement point to exclude code WABU_T which corresponds to "Post Goods Receipt". You can simply add the following lines at the end of this routine using implicit enhancement point.
    IF sy-tcode EQ 'VL31N' OR sy-tcode EQ 'VL32N'.
      PERFORM cua_fcode_allow USING 'WABU_T' no.
    ENDIF.

  • How do I disable UPD "Requesting device properties..." Dialog?

    I have two Windows Server 2008 R2 servers, and every time I add an IP printer with the HP Universal Printing Driver, I get this when I try to get into the printer properties:
    How do I disable this? I just want it to act like a normal printer without any HP software getting in the way.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    We're a school district and we've been experiencing this more recently during our migration to windows 7 (finally!) and this issues happens on random workstations.
    On the server side (Server 2008 R2 sp1) , the printer was installed as traditional, but something happens when the printer is installed via the web interface and it will either install as traditional or it will install as dynamic.  If you install it by searching the network (via Devices and Printers, "add a printer"), the printer installs as traditional every single time.
    I found registry solution mentioned and it does work on the workstation with the issue, but I may see this issue on hundreds of workstations. We are having our users install their printers after they get Windows 7 and I need to have the printers install consistently as traditional printers on every workstation via the web interface.
    Thanks.

  • How can I disable Firefox from automatically opening on system startup on my Mac - unchecking the "open at login" does not work?

    We have Firefox 10.o on our Macbook Pro OS X 10.5.8. I prefer using Firefox as my browser but my husband prefers Safari for now because of a long history of bookmarks and saved information he doesn't have time to re-do. He is tired of Firefox automatically opening when we start up the laptop, and even when we uncheck the "open at login" it still opens at login every time. He is about to uninstall it because of this. How can we disable? It does NOT show up in our account on the Mac OS as an application that starts at login, so we can't disable it there.

    For those of you running Windows, I found this on another site. (Unfortunately, not before getting totally disgusted and switching to chrome.)
    1. click start (or the windows flag button at the bottom left) 2. in the "search programs and files" or the RUN dialog box, enter "msconfig.exe" or "msconfig". 3. That should open the system configuration program. 4. click the "Startup" tab at the top of the opened program. 5. Under the "startup item" column, look for Mozilla firefox. 6. uncheck that one. 7. Click OK or apply. 8. click "exit without restart". 9. you're good to go.
