How Do i disable ""enable advance Printing features on windows server 2008 ""

Hi ,
I have a windows server 2008 which is used as  a terminal server . Users at remote locations log on to this server via "" DYNDNS"" to user our ERP and company files. We use ""DOT MATRIX PRINTERS "" to print  . As we all know that ""enable advance
printing feature"" is checked by default on windows server 2008 the format of our ""DOT MATRIX PRINTOUTS "" CHANGE  which creates a big mess.
I would like to know if there is any way where i can disable this feature permanently.

In previous operating systems, that setting was for designed for  disabling and enabling GDI rendering on the server.  Since you are using a TYPE 4 print driver, there is no GDI rendering and thus this setting is not configurable.
If you would like to change this setting, you will need to use a TYPE 3 print driver that does not use XPS rendering.  Then the previous configuration methods you were using will work.

    Hi,
I want to control my client's date and time format as dd/mm/yyyy format and I need to do it using the windows server 2008 R2. How can I achieve this goal?

    Hi,
In Windows Server 2008 R2, you can use Regional Options Extension in Group Policy Preferences to configure the date and
time format. For more information, please refer to:

  • Deleting print drivers on Windows Server 2008 R2 without Print Role

    Hi,
I'm using Windows Server 2008 R2 with Citrix Xenapp for published desktops meaning that i need to add a number of different printers to the server for the various users. Unfortunately i have some printer drivers that i think are conflicting and want to remove
    these from the server.
How can i do this without adding the Print and Document Services role? Without this role i don't believe i can access 'Print Management' in the same way that i would with a Windows 7 client and then remove the driver package.
Is there another way that i can do this or should i be adding this role just to remove these drivers and then perhaps removing the role (if necessary), assuming that this is possible?
    Thanks for any help.

add the tools for print management
    in elevated cmd window
    dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:Printing-AdminTools-Collection
If you already have local shared prints on the server, add the role.  Adding the Role installs the tools and opens the File and print sharing firewall port which would have been achieved by adding a shared printer. You do not need to add the Print
role to setup a machine as a print server, it's not a requirement.

  • Unable to print to local Printer over RDP - Windows Server 2008

    Hi,
    Windows 2008 Foundation R2.
Started to have issues with printing to a Local printer over RDP.
The problems started on Friday 11th April. The only possible issue I can identify is that around that time LogMeIn was updated on the server, including the LMIPrinter DLL's.  I have contacted Logmein for instructions on how to uninstall LMI completely
and followed these but am still experiencing the problem.
When attempting a Test Page print the confirmation that the Test Print has been sent to is displayed and the print appears then disappears in the Print queue but nothing appears on the Local PC print queue or event logs.
    On the server the Event Log shows the following error;
The document Test Page, owned by admin, failed to print on printer Canon MG7100 series Printer (redirected 2/copy 1). Try to print the document again, or restart the print spooler.
Data type: RAW. Size of the spool file in bytes: 142691. Number of bytes printed: 0. Total number of pages in the document: 1. Number of pages printed: 0. Client computer: \\ONESTAGE-TS01. Win32 error code returned by the print processor: 2147500037. Unspecified
    error
I have searched for possible solutions to RDP printing problems and where relevant implemented them but no change.
I have access to a second customer who uses RDP and am able to log onto that and print to my local printer so am pretty sure there is nothing wrong with the local printer or settings.  On the Server with the problem the problem affects all RDP users
and all printers (including Adobe PDF printer and MS XPS printer).  All printers are defaulting to the EasyPrint Drivers.
Grasping at straws I think the LMI update has banjaxed something with the RDP remote printing and an LMI uninstall hasn't fixed it.  Is there a way to reinstall the RDP Printing?  Would uninstalling & reinstalling .NET have that effect?

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
What’s your client OS and RDP version in your environment?
First of all suggest you to run “sfc /scanow” with this link to check whether which file causing the issue. Check the RDP version on the RDP client computer as well as the .NET framework version with respect to the operating system used (as explained above).
Also verify that the RD Session Host / Terminal Server role is installed if the host computer is running Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows Server 2008.
The setting “Use Remote Desktop Easy Print printer driver first” must be set to “Enabled” for Easy Print redirection, and it has to be “Disabled” for Legacy Print. For “Not configured”, Easy Print is chosen by default.
Check The Remote Desktop Configuration Tool (tsconfig.msc) settings to ensure that the “Windows Printer” option is not disabled (it is not disabled by default).
Make sure that the “Printers” check box in the client (mstsc.exe) window on the “Local Resources” tab is checked. The corresponding setting in the associated RDP file is “redirectprinters:i:1”.

  • HP P1505n printers-slow print spool on Windows Server 2008-3 minutes to print test page

We have over 50 HP Laserjet P1505n printers setup on our Windows Server 2008 network.  Our pcs using Windows XP Pro SP3.  These printers are taking 3 minutes to spool a simple print job to the printer. After the page prints, it takes 2 minutes to communicate back to the pc that the job was sent.  Eventually, it seems that the printers stop printing altogether because the jobs will error in the queue due to timeouts.
We have tried different settings on our printers and the drivers from the installation cd and HP website.  We have seen no difference in performance. The time lag is so substantial that it is wreaking havoc with our users.
We have tried to UNcheck 'use advanced printing features' but this did not help at all.
Can anyone help with this problem?  It seems as though these printers were not designed to work with Windows Server 2008, yet they are new model printers.

HP P1505n does not officially support Win Server 2008. However, just as you mentioned that we can use 6L driver as a workaround. BTW, P1505n was launched back to 2007.

How can i enable my Local Area Connection back.
    Thanks

    Hi
Netsh can do this for you:
netsh interface set interface name="Local Area Connection" admin=enabled
Replace "local area connection" with your connection name.

  • Slow Printing on RDS on Server 2008 R2

We have resently upgraded from a 2000 Terminal server to a 2008 R2 Remote desktop Server. The clients are running XP Pro and have SP3 installed and .net Framework 3.5 SP1.
Users are complaining that printing is very slow on the new system and there is a noticable difference when printing.
We are using the Windows Easy Print to redirect users printers, we do not have any drivers or printers installed on the RDS itself as we want to soley use Easy Print as we have a number of home users all with different printers and most do not have 64bit
    drivers available.
I have disabled TCP Chimney Offload, RSS and Receive Windows Auto-Tuning Level on the server but this has had no effect.
Please can you advise on the best course of action to improve printing speeds.

    Hi,
Easy Print is a new feature since Windows Server 2008 Terminal Services. In the process of Easy
Print, the Easy Print universal driver acts as a proxy and redirects all the UI calls to the driver on the client. The performance of the feature quite depends on the related drivers which supports Easy Print. In such a case, please consider to check the following
    two factors:
    ·          Check the official website of the printer and install the most updated printer driver supporting
    Easy Print for your printer.
    ·          Update the driver for the network adapter on both the server and the client side.
Besides, here is a known issue described on the following KB article and please take it as reference:
FIX: After you apply hotfix 954744, printing performance may be significantly slower when
you print documents by using Terminal Services Easy Print

  • How to create restore point in windows server 2008 service pack1

hi i am bhaskar ... how to create restore point in windows server 2008 service pack1 and how to restore system from a restore point in windows server 2008 service pack1.. is this option available or not ? what is the difference between shadow copies and
restore point ? instead of restore point we have this shadow copies option in windows server 2008 ?Bhaskar

AFIK, Restore Points doesn’t exist in Windows 2008.
Volume Shadow Copy option can be used to achieve:
Creating consistent backups of open files and applications
Creating shadow copies for shared folders
Creating transportable shadow copies using a hardware provider — for backup, testing and data mining scenarios
Quickly recovering and restoring files and data
It is more like a file, data, application backup.

  • Windows Server 2008 R2 Printer Migration

    Hi Guys,
This is more of a reassurance than a question but i just want to be 100% sure.
I'm a second line engineer trying to gain exposure into third line and i have been given a small project to migrate some printers from a Windows Server 2008 machine to a Server 2008 R2 machine which is an already established priner server hosting 95% of
    our printers.
My (possibly silly) question is if i export the printers from the 2008 server can i import them onto the 2008 R2 server without overwriting whats already there.
I have seen printers migrated from scratch but i just wanted to make sure i can add the to whats allready there,
All the drivers x64 and x86 are already in place.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Sorry for my delay.
Based on your description, did you mean that migrate Print Servers from Windows Server 2008 to Windows Server
    2008 R2?
You can use the Printer Migration Wizard or the Printbrm.exe command-line tool to export print queues, printer
settings, printer ports, and language monitors, and then import them on another print server that is running a Windows operating system. This is an efficient way to consolidate multiple print servers or replace an older print server.
Please refer to following articles and check if can help you.

If anything I misunderstand, please don’t hesitate to let me know.
    Hope this helps.
