How do I disable iMessage on my MacBook pro?

I have purchased a MacBook Pro for Christmas and whilst viewing different applications I couldn't close the message application unless I typed in my Apple id password. Now, I am recieving iMessages at not only my iPhone and iPod but my mac too. How can i disable this on my mac???

I just figured this out, yay! You need to be on your laptop to do this. Open the iMessage app, then look up at the top left of the screen on your laptop and it should be the apple icon, "messages", File, Edit, View, History, etc. Click on "Messages", then click on "Preferences", then click on the accounts in the box on the left - because a pop-up will open after you click on "Preferences". I was unable to remove the accounts, but I was able to uncheck all the boxes and disable the accounts. Voila! Mission accomplished.

mr. lanny i went into the app store on my mac book pro, and typed in messages but that never came up
And it won't come up, becuase it's an app that comes with Mountain Lion and Mavericks. It's not something you purchase separately.
Mountain Lion is OS X version 10.8
Mavericks is OS X version 10.9

  • How do I disable AirPlay on my Macbook Pro

I don't understand how to disable AirPlay on my macbook pro. It keeps asking for a password...In which i never set! Now my garageband is soundless and a pop up keeps coming on my screen asking for the password.

You had to have set up a password when the machine was first purchased. Registration will not let you get past it when you boot up the first time. You'll have to reboot holding down the Command and R keys at the same time, select Recovery Partition, and in the menus at the top there should be an option to reset password.

I am trying to get iMessage on my macbook pro and i could not get it. Can anyone help

Are you running Mac OS X Mountain lion? Ie 10.8.x? You need this as it's not supported on earlier versions of OS X.
If so you should fined it in your applications folder under 'messages' - simply login to your Apple ID and it should set itself up under your account and sync with your iPhone/iPad.

  • How do I disable game center in macbook pro

A couple of  apps I downloaded, a casino slot, want the game center to become involved.  I do not want to have anything to do with the game center.
Other games e.g. solitaire card games do not cause the game center to pop up.  How do I disable this?

Thanks, I tried that and it did not work.  It never showed up in the login items.
The strange thing is that went the game comes up the game center slash opens but you cannot
enter anything into the boxes including 'cancel'.  There must be a bug somewhere.  I will cancel that game and get another and try it.

  • How do i disable iMessage on my macbook air?

I keep receiving my texts from my iphone on my macbook air and i do not want it to do that, incase someone else is using my computer, i do not want them to see my texts

Follow the instructions under the heading "How to unlink a phone number" on this page.
Regardless, you should not let anyone else use the computer while it's logged in to your account. If you share it with others, create a separate account for each of them.

  • How do I update iMessage on my macbook pro?

So I've had my iMessage turned off for a while because I was just getting it serviced and didn't want to risk whomever was looking at my macbook getting bombarded with random messages here and there, and I just turned it on. It's all fine and dandy and we're all singing with the bluebirds and everything, except the history of my messages since I turned it off isn't showing up.
Is there a way to get the new messages that I've only received on my phone to update on my iMessage ap on my laptop? So my iMessage on my laptop will show every single iMessage I've received even on my phone?

    Hi,
    The answer is No.
I will qualify that a bit further.
iMessages are pushed from the server for a limited period to all the registered/linked devices.
I used my iPhone in a hotel when I went away for a weekend to watch the British Superbikes.
The hotel had WiFi so I sent iMessages to my wife.
    That was the Friday evening.
These particular iMessages did sync to my Mac once I turned it On on Sunday evening.
I would surmise that a Friday to Monday catch up between iPhones and work computers is a possible but I have not seen anyone one post that.
The sync is only "display on all Devices" and is not like a email Server that sends it to any device that logs in  that has not read that set of email(s).

  • How do I download iMessage onto my MacBook Pro?

I deleted iMessage thinking it would solve a problem I was having if I could reinstall it and start from scratch. Now I can't find where to download the Beta version of iMessage. All I'm finding is that I need to uprgrade (and pay for) my OS.
    Please help!!!!

    HI,
The Messages Beta came with an Uninstall option in the  Messages Menu itself which reinstalled iChat 6 as part of the Process.
As Lion (OS X 10.7.x) does not come with Install Disks it is impossible to Install one app as you could before.
    Use Lion Recovery.

  • How do I disable auto-caps on MacBook Pro 10.6.6

*I hate autocaps!* When I want a cap, I'll hit the shift key.
Autocaps runs system wide on my MacBookPro5,4. It's a nightmare for passwords. I never know when it's giving me a cap or not. Also, in things like the terminal it will cap a command that can't be cap'd, like "ftp - Open."
If I decide to edit a sentence I get "This."
Autocaps causes me so many more keystrokes than it would ever save!
I just don't want it and I've searched high and low and there is no preference or control for it anywhere.
Also, I have friends with MacBooks who don't see this behavior on their machine!

I searched as well and found nothing. Are you sure you don't have any third-party software installed that might explain that behavior? Check the "Login Items" list of the Accounts panel of System Preferences.

I'm very sick of receiving text messages on every device. How can I disable imessage on my macbook pro so I don't receive texts that I wish to receive only on my phone?

If you do not want to receive your text messages on your Mac, open Messages, go to Messages menu (in the menu bar) > Preferences > Accounts, choose your iMessage account and untick your phone number or disable your account

how can i disable imessage from automatically starting up when i turn on macbook air? i dont know my imessages to pop up on my laptop when it turns on. But i dont want to disable imessage totally on my macbook.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
First of all, check that Messages is closed when you turn off your MacBook. This is so important because, by default, OS X will reopen all opened apps the next time you start your Mac.
Apart from that, when you go to  > Shut Down, or  > Restart, in the window you see to restart or turn off your MacBook, unmark "Reopen windows when logging back in". This will avoid that your Mac opens all opened apps the next time you start the MacBook, so Messages won't start automatically at startup
