  • How can I disable the Keychain for an application?

How can I disable the Keychain for an application? A window pops up every time I open a page in Safari asking me for a password. I'm using a student laptop, so while I'm an administrator I lack access to a few things, such as the Keychain Access application. Is there any way to deal with this?

It's possible you may be able to trick it by creating an Applications folder in your Home directory and moving Safari to it.
I can't test this but it might work. The problem is that you would miss Safari updates, so you'd have to keep an eye out for them. Another solution may be to download another Safari and install in yourname/Applications.

LOL,  I can't even begin to complain with the number if times I misread questions, and then try to break my own record for the number of typos in a single post.
The image above was taken on a photgraphic weekend where the group (of all young ladies ) I was travelling with, set us a photography challenge.  The one above was my response to a 'faceless portrait'.  The only other one I attempted was this response for a picture of a 'wild animal', featuring camera club president Liz.
Oh what fun we had, laughing and laughing until our faces fell off.

From what I understand this is a new thing in case the iPad is stolen , the thief can't get into the phone after powering it off, which they do to prevent find my iPhone. It requires the Apple ID and password. Not to be confused with a passcode.

  • How do I disable login password?

I am having heaps of trouble with an annoying login password that I cannot disable.  I have followed all directions and still it persists.  what do I do now any one know?

There is a Log in password for a reason. So anyone turning on your computer can't use it or look at your files without knowing the password. To disable the use of it means that everyone walking by you Mac can start it up and view your personal data and files.
So what is the be problem typing in a password when the system starts? You will still need to type it in when you are installing software or making system changes.

  • How to I disable the iChat popup feature?

It's annoying messages pops up, when I'm showing something on my desk, but i still want iChat on.

    Hi,
Welcome to the    Support Communities
It really depends what is popping up where and when it happens.
Incoming Invites to Text, Audio Only or Video Chats plus Screen Sharing Invites will always pop up in "Front" of anything else.(Although tapping the screen (Clicking the mouse on apart of an App) as it were will bring whatever you tap to the "Front" again and possibly hide that Invite)
If you have the Add-on called Chax you can select a window and then tell it to always be in Front.
This includes windows like the Chat windows or in fact the Invites as they are separate windows as far as iChat is concerned, that may not be on show all the time.
    Chax also installs Growl.
This can have Notification pop ups that can be turned Off in iChat > Preferences > Chax (It adds another Preferences Pane to iChat.
These can be set for Messages only or Buddy Actions like coming and Going Off line.
Growl also has a System Preferences  pane that can also be set by Application to be Off or On.
    Uploaded with Skitch!
Basically it can be the Action of Growl if you have it anyway.
It may have come with Chax and have setting in iChat as well.
There are not many more instances and they are rare as well so I will not go into them now.(Certain AppleScript actions set against an Action in the iChat Preferences > Alerts.  Some System Wide add-ons that can get info into iChat's Status Message or Icon change).

  • Synch Exchange Keychain Entry to Login Keychain Automatically

I wish there was a Keychain Access preference that would enable me to tell a Keychain entry from an application to synchronize with the Login Keychain password automatically when changes occur.
This would fix so many problems I have with my Mac users. We use Exchange for mail and such. When Active Directory expires an account password, and the AD password is updated, then I wish the Mac Keychain would have this "magic" -- first to update itself to the new login password ---then go look for other applications that USED login credentials and update those as well.
I know about editing Keychain entries manually and I know about how to delete the Login KeyChain Files and References.
I know about changing network account passwords from System Preferences/Accounts. When done, you still have to manually edit the Exchange Keychain entry from Keychain Access.
Apple needs to improve its implementation of Active Directory to extend to application entries inside Keychain Access.
Do you guys know of any software that fills these gaps?
    Scripts?
    Thanks

So what you're saying is that it falls back on Microsoft to further improve Entourage to include SSO Exchange authentication?
Is there nothing I can do until then?
I wish I knew how other Mac managers have handled Exchange/AD password issues. Macwindows.com is somewhat vague in this regard.
All I can do is to continue to educate my users in how to manually control their network credentials. Most of them are okay with Exchange/AD. It becomes a chore for some. For a few I have to "hold their hand" -- guide them through it almost every day.
I find this dilemma most annoying.
    Thanks for your input.

  • Login Keychain Access

I just moved my wifes PC information to my old Imac using Migration Assistance. All the data came over just fine, but the new account that was set up by MA could not be accessed as there was a password problem. (Seems to be common).  I just the permissions on all her data files in finder, and set up a new user , and then copies all her data into the new user account (I made it an admin accout). This seemed to work fine, I have email working, itunes set up, etc
however as far as key chains go, the key chain attached to her id is fine and in the Keychain Access Application I can see the passwords etc stored in
her account howerver the "login.keychain" associated with her account doesnt seem to have a password to let me access it.
When she logs in it asks for it and there is no password that will work, and I cannot access, delete nor do anything with it as I dont' have a password, but I never did get an opportunity to set one up. Other accounts are fine, this is the only one with this problem.
I've read countless posts on this, but I still don't get how I fix a login keychain problem. The user keychain is ok.
Quite frustrating, I'd really appreciate a pointer in how to fix this. On a related note, I also noticed that everytime she logs in, the mouse set up (ie the natural scrolling option) goes back to the default setting, I assumr that these are option recorded in the login keychain?
    Thanks,
    Tom

Did that as welll. The user key chain is fine, but sill won't let me do anything the the login keychain.
    Quite frustrating.

  • My Mac keeps asking for my "login" keychain after I changed my password on my Mac. How do I stop the popups?

I forgot the password to my Mac, so I reset my password, and ever since then, there have been popups asking for my "login" keychain password. I enter it every time, but they still pop up. Also, my Mail keeps asking for the password to my email, and iMessage is on, but I can't receive any messages, and the window won't even pop up.
Does anyone know the solution for this?

Go to your Utilities folder and open Keychain Access. Follow the steps here: Mac OS X: Keychain Access asks for keychain "login" after changing login password.

  • I am always prompted to type in a "login" Keychain right after logging onto the computer. How do I disable this?

I've found Keychain Access in the Utilities folder but I can't seem to turn it off.

Keychain Access > Preferences > First Aid
Synchronize login keychain password with account: check
Set login keychain as default: check
    Keep login keychain unlocked: check
