How do I disable password login at startup??
Since installing Yosemite 10.10.1, every time I turn on my MacBook Pro I have to Select User and then login with my password. I don't want this, since I'm the only user and it wastes time. This didn't used to happen before installing Yosemite. I can't find the button in Security and Privacy that turns this off! Any help? Thanks!
Are we on the same page? System preferences>users & groups. Click on login items. Click on lock in lower left and enter your system password.
You said something about logging in. If you are not the system administrator, you cannot change anything.

How do I disable password based login for ssh
Before upgrading to Mountain Lion I had setup my computer to allow remote login via SSH. Now that I have upgraded I can no longer login to my computer via SSH without specifying a password. How do I get back to not having to supply a password to login?
I created a user named `remotepair` and generated a RSA ssh key. I had setup password-less login to this user by adding the public keys of those who login to the ~/.ssh/authorized_keys file and the following settings in /etc/sshd_config
Protocol 2
PubkeyAuthentication yes
PermitRootLogin no
PasswordAuthentication no
PermitEmptyPasswords no
ChallengeResponseAuthentication no
AllowUsers remotepair
I also created a question on ServerFault about other issues I have with SSH. I solved the issue by doing a PRAM reset.
Since my settings are no longer working for password-less login, how do I enable password-less login to my Mountain Lion enable Mac?Output for ssh -vvv [email protected]

Turning off Password Login at Startup???
ok so i used to live with my roommate now i am moved out and on my own, i want to turn off my passworded login like i used to have before i moved in for college, it used to just login no problem, all i did was go to System Preferences>Security and turned on "Disable Automatic Login"....well now i Un-checked it so that it will login automatically when i turn the computer on, but it still asks for my password and its really annoying, anyone know how to turn this on for sure?
Hi Daniel,
Try the following:
1. Fire up System Preferences.
2. Select Accounts.
3. Click on the Lock at the bottom left and enter your password.
4. Click on Login Options just above the Lock
5. On the right ensure that Automatically Log in as: is ticked and select the account you want from the drop down menu.
That should be it. All okay now?

How can i disable my login?
I'm trying to disable my login so that everytime i walk away from my computer briefly, i don't have to log back in. i don't want to disable it for downloads though...
I like this App, Caffeine. It overrides the sleep and screensaver settings with one simple click in the menubar.
You can have it launch on startup, in either mode too (on or off).

but is there any way to completely disable this thing?
its my computer and i want to do whatever i wish and i know what i am doing, is there a way?
this thing is like using windows VISTA !
please help !You may have one of the 2010 models with the 'bad' GPU - see http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4088?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US.
If so, it should be fixed for nothing. Read the Knowledge Base article and call support to schedule a time that you can take your machine in and have it diagnosed.
Good luck,

How to implement a password/login feature using the package OWA_SEC
HELLO.....
I have another question:
I am using the following versions of Oracle products
Connected to:
Oracle9i Release 9.2.0.5.0 - Production
JServer Release 9.2.0.5.0 - Production
SQL> select owa_util.get_version from dual;
GET_VERSION
9.0.4.0.1
(version of OWA packages)
I have successfully compiled the following package:
(It is based on a package in the text Oracle Web Application Programming for PL/SQL Developers by Susan Boardman etc page 687-688
The SPEC and BODY code is as follows:
CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE AUTHEN_TEST IS
FUNCTION AUTHORIZE RETURN BOOLEAN;
PROCEDURE HELLO_WORLD;
END;
CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE BODY AUTHEN_TEST IS
FUNCTION AUTHORIZE RETURN BOOLEAN IS
v_user VARCHAR2(10);
v_password VARCHAR2(10);
BEGIN
owa_sec.set_protection_realm('The Realm of Testing');
v_user := UPPER(owa_sec.get_user_id);
v_password := UPPER(owa_sec.get_password);
IF v_user = 'PREN' AND v_password = 'HALL' THEN
RETURN TRUE;
ELSE
RETURN FALSE;
END IF;
END AUTHORIZE;
PROCEDURE HELLO_WORLD IS
v_status BOOLEAN;
BEGIN
htp.p('TESTING');
v_status := authorize;
IF v_status = TRUE THEN
htp.p('WENT TO PASSWORD SECTION');
ELSE
htp.p('DID NOT GO TO PASSWORD SECTION');
END IF;
END HELLO_WORLD;
END AUTHEN_TEST;
As I said the code compiles!!
However what I want it to do is successfully run the following code from the above package:
owa_sec.set_protection_realm('The Realm of Testing');
v_user := UPPER(owa_sec.get_user_id);
v_password := UPPER(owa_sec.get_password);
I want the user to be asked for a password and login
Currently when I use the web based application the browser displays:
TESTING DID NOT GO TO PASSWORD SECTION
Any advice is appreciated
Thank You

How do I disable VMWare Fusion at startup?
I'm having kernel panics and can't get past the grey apple/progress gear screen. I've gone through all the usual kernel panic trouble shooting procedures so please don't direct me to those knowledge base pages.
The problem set in while my son was running a 3D Windows game in Fusion. Definitely overtaxing the system.
So I finally got the computer to start in verbose mode which is quite interesting and what I find is lots and lots of vmware stuff right up at the top of the startup process. The whole startup grinds to a halt in the middle of vmware which would indicate that something related to fusion is causing difficulties.
So is there any way for me to start up without VMware doing it's thing?Unfortunately, safe boot is not working. Just won't happen.
I was able to repair with disk utilities using firewire target disk mode and still can't start up.
While in target disk mode I also just as a test moved all Fusion related items to a folder. Then starting in verbose mode all VMware stuff was gone but the process still ground to a halt just at a different point.
The hitch here is that I don't have my install disks with me.
I'm going to cruise over to the Fusion forums but they're pretty dead. A good proportion of threads go with no replies.
Thanks. -
How can I disable the login query in the music and podcast apps?
This is really annoying. If I go to listen to something, I get a "Sign in to iTunes Store" and I have to find the Cancel button which is a pain in the car or in sunshine. I'd like to remove this permanently. Thanks
Instead of canceling enter your passcode for your Apple ID. It should then stop asking.

How to disable password from os x lion
I use to be able to disable password login each time i come out of screensaver view or sleep mode prior to installing os x lion. any solutions?
Sorry, I don''t use firevault2.. but the warning in System Prefs > Security & Privacy > FireVault seems clear enough. Password and recovery key are required if you want to access your data.
WARNING: You will need your login password or a recovery key to access your data. A recovery key is automatically generated as part of this setup. If you forget both your password and recovery key, the data will be lost.
Thanks for the star and I hope you have a great weekend too.
