  • Disable Photo downloader- how do I organise the pictures

I have been using photo downloader with my PSE6.  Everytime I insert a SD card,  the downloader will organise all the pictures and put them in folders according the date that the pictures were taken.
Recently my computer is getting slower and I would like to disable the downloder from startup.  I can still manually transfer my pictures.  But how do organise the pictures by date automaticlly if I am not using downloader ?
    Thks

Well, if course I know how to create folder manually.  Plse read the question carefully,  doenloader is creating folders for me automatically when I put my SD card,  the question is after I disable downloader,  can I do this?  Imagine arranging thousand of pictures manually....
Reading the question carefully, you ask "can I do this"? And I am very unclear about what the pronoun "this" is referring to. Yes, you can move photos from the SD Card to your hard drive and put them in folders by date. But I have the vague sense that you are asking something different. So I have read the question carefully and still am unclear about the question.

  • How to disable photo-downloader for ever ?

    Hi there,
after installing Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.0 my PC always shows an active downloader icon in the systray. I don't want this program to run for ever (or at each startup). Even deactivating is only valid until the next reboot.
How can I disable this program ?
    Thanks for your help
    Casik

    Hi Casik,
You can disable the downloader by right clicking the icon and selecting disable. After this the icon is still visible in system tray but Downloader doe snot launch automatically.
There have been some posts in the past about removing the icon from system tray. However I have not tried the suggestions and cannot tell you for sure whether we they work.
Here is the link to one of the posts:

  • Disable Photo Download Link

Does anyone know how to disable the download button in the albums? I looked around and I couldn't find any way of removing the button. I don't really want to have to password protect my site and only allow specific people access, but it is the only alternative I see to stopping people from being able to download my images at will. They are of course small res images, not usable for printing, but still, I'd rather not give people the opportunity to snag my work. Any ideas on how to work around this?
Any advice on these issues would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks very much.

So, I gave this a try - putting a box over the download button that is the same color as the background to mask it and it works to a certain degree. The problem with it is that the download button on that third view (the larger image with the thumbnails that scroll across the top) is in the same spot at the subscribe button on the previous page (the page that is the actual album page with all of the photo thumbviews on it). So if you put a box over the download button, it also covers up the subscribe button on that previous page, because somehow the two pages are linked. Now if you don't care if people can subscribe to your pages or not, this solution works. But, if like me, you would like to encourage people to subscribe to the feed (rather than having to send out a massive email every time a new photo is uploaded) then this method will not work.
Thanks for the suggestion though Roddy, on the basic level it makes perfect sense and is a viable work around to the problem.

  • How do I disable automatic downloading?

When I am on iTunes, files that I have already purchased and downloaded automatically begin downloading out of nowhere.  It gets very annoying, and I would like to know how to disable automatic downloading.

  • How Do I Remove Photo Downloader Icon from the notification area (system tray)

Yes, this should be simple, but I'm baffled. Can the icon be permanently removed, or at least when when the Album Starter is not in use... other than clicking on "exit" which only brings it back when the computer is restarted without removing the program?

KILLING ADOBE PHOTO DOWNLOADER AND TRAY ICON.
Easy ! I use Comodo Pro Firewall.
    1) Click on DEFENSE box.
    2) Click on "View Active Process List"
    3) Look down the list of processes. Find APDPROXY.EXE.
    4) Click it, then click "Terminate and Quarantine"
    5) ALL DONE ! No more icon in tray and the program is killed.
APDPROXY - This is lurking about, you can find it on SEARCH from the START button. BUT, you cannot delete it or move it and MSCONFIG does not work. You can disable it as many times as you like - it will keep coming back.
SOLUTION ! Download CCleaner, it is a great little program and free.
Using this you can click on TOOLS, then STARTUP. A list of programs are shown which are enabled at STARTUP. Disabling does not work, just click on APDPROXY and click DELETE. It`s GONE !
All over in a flash - no more ADOBE PHOTO DOWNLOADER.

  • How do I disable photo frame icon?

There is a photo frame icon on my home page which allows access to my pictures while the Iod is locked. How fo i disable it from the home screen?

You can't remove the icon from your lock screen unless you are using a passcode. If you use a passcode, then I think it's possible to remove it - Settings>General>Passcode Lock>Picture Frame>Off.
I don't use a passcode but I think that's how this feature works with the picture frame.

  • Disable Photo downloader in photoshop album starter 3.0

When I connect my camera via USB, the photo downloader starts & ties up the camera software. Other forum topics instruct to choose edit / preferences / camera or card reader & deselect "use Adobe photo downloader to get photos from camera or reader", but that is not a choice in photoshop album starter 3.0. Any ideas?

    > Is there any way to get rid of the photo downloader icon in the try for PSA 3.0?
You can right click on it and select the option, but it will come back next time you reboot or start PSA SE. To get rid of it permanently: In Windows Explorer, go to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Album Starter Edition\3.0\Apps and reaname the file apdproxy.exe to something else [like "apdproxy-save.exe"].

  • How good is the Photo Downloader at detecting duplicates?

I have only tested the Photo Downloader (with version 1.2) once, and I got a couple of hundred duplicates on my disc. I had images on the card that I had downloaded before using other software, but images that was already in the LR library.
So, I'm not sure that I dare to use the Downloader again as long as my card has still old photos on it.
What are other users experience with this program?
Other programs I have used for downloading from the card uses the Archive-attribute so it can know for sure if a picture has been downloaded or not, so why does not LR do that? I'm not sure if Mac has the same file attribute, or if all camera manufactures uses it, but if they do, then it could be a good idea for LR to do the same.

I suspect no better than it is at detecting duplicates by regular import. Here is a quote from an earlier post of mine on the subject of LR's inconsistency in detecting duplicates. That was with 1.2. I have not fron a formal test on 1.3 yet, but informally it seems to catch more than 1.2--but that is just an impression. For sure, it is not getting them all by any means. That I know from importing in 1.3 and seeing identical files in the import. By identical I mean everything, name, ext, size, dates, crc,everthing--abjectly identical. I will run some tests when I get an hour or two. By the way does anyone know for sure just what attribues of an image LR uses to determine identicality. Given the use of the word 'suspected' duplicates, I suspect that it isn't a very rigorous test. Something is either a duplicate or not!
Here is what I posted earlier based on testing:
"I have recently undertaken to run a serious test of LR 1.2--as I did with previous versions-- to see if it was at the stage of development where it would improve my workflow over my present applications. Most everything is much better than before, but I have discovered a killer bug.
I work in a group of four other photographers. We are constantly mixing and matching images from our various DBs/shots for client presentations, frequently mixing shots already in a DB with some that are recent and not yet DBed In the end, of course, we want one DB that incorporates all our collective images. This arrangement lends itself to imports that often will contain duplicates of given, uniquely identified, images.
I discovered that even with the box checked to not import duplicates, that LR is hopelessly inconsistent in stopping the import of absolutely identical files with absolutely identical names, extensions, metadata, etc.
As a test, I imported a set of 50 images--various formats, etc--all of which were in LR already. I ran the test three times. The first test resulted in LR identifying 3 dups, the second test 17 dups, and the third 13 dups. I also tried this test using images that were in two separate LR catalogues--identical in every respect. LR did not identify even one duplicate image of the fifty in this case.
Is this a known bug? Anyone have any suggestions? TIA "

  • How do i get photos downloaded to my pc from iPod or iPad besides emailing them to myself?

How can I get photos taken from my iPad or iPod to my PC besides e-mailing them to myself? Sorry if this is a silly question--I'm a newbie.

For photos taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites then see this page. The same applies to the iPod Touch as well.
For photos that were originally synced from a computer you will need a third-party app such as Simple Transfer which can copy them off via your wifi network. But as photos are 'optimised' when they are synced to the iPad (or iPod Touch), any that you then copy back to a computer may not be exactly the same as they originally were on your computer.

  • How can I disable the Download function of safari?

since I am using the iGetter to download files from internet and I did integrate iGetter into safari. but sometimes when i download some files the download of safari automatically pop up and start downloading. that's annoying me. can i disable this function.
PS: what is the use of automator in Leopard OS and how to use it effectively?
    thx

    Hi
Some sites are coded by developers in such a way that 3rd party download accelerators such as iGetter or Speed Download are ignored, downloading the file directly through a browser's download mechanism. Those are usually coded as a "forced download" rather than a stream download. I don't know of a particular work-around. Not using iGetter I don't know what its capabilities are (I use Speed Download), however, possibly you might see the download file listed in the Activity Window (Command/Option/A) where you could copy it (Command/C), then paste it into iGetters download window (I know I can do this in SpeedDownload).
In any event, you won't be able to preempt or anticipate the direction the download will go until the process starts.
