How do I disable Photo Stream in iPhoto '11?

I'd like to disable Photo Stream in iPhoto '11 so that the thousand photos don't use up memory on my iPhone and my iPad. How do I disable Photo Stream?

At the iCloud website or in the PreferencePane on any or all of your devices.

  • Photo Stream in iPhoto not updating

My family has multiple iOS devices.  We utilize Photo Stream.  Pics on one device show up in Photo Stream on all devices.  That is okay.  When I open iPhoto on my MacBook, the Photo Stream doesn't contain any of the pictures from the devices.  Why is this?  Is there a way to fix?

Log out of iCloud in the System/iCloud preference pane
and disable Photo Stream in iPhoto's Photo Share preference pane.
Then log back in and re-enable, respectively makins sure Photo Stream is selected in the System preferences. That should jump start Photo Stream.

  • How get all photos from photo streams without iPhoto

Hi to make A long story short, I lost a Hard Drive with iPhoto on it... Including all my baby's pics ... However I can still see them in the photo streams on my idevices.. First off without that Mac how can just grab all the photos off photo stream without iPhoto?
Secondly, if I can install iPhoto on another machine or drive will that help or hurt me? Will all the photos show up under my Apple ID and can I just copy them or am I running any risk of deleting the streams?
Is my only option to copy photos from photo stream a few at a time? And does that not repush them back up to the stream and erase older photos?
    Thank you for any help!!
Yes I know I am a complete idiot for not backing up or using online backup service...

If you create a new library on another Mac, set its Photo Stream preferences to
and log into your iCloud account on that Mac and enable Photo Stream,  the Photo Stream photos will automatically be imported into the new library. It can take a while depending on how many photos are in the stream.
When you're done log out of your iCloud account and copy the library to a flash drive or DVD (if small enought) till you get your new drive.

  • How to delete pictures in photo stream in iPhoto

I have a whole bunch of pictures that I do not want to keep in photo stream in iPhoto on my macbook.
When I select the files I want to delete, it only gives me a quick "white" blank and does not respond.  Dragging the photos to the trash can does not work, either.
iPhoto has been my worst nightmare ever since I got my macbook.  It is just way too difficult to organize or keep track of my photos.  I need to visit this forum every time I need to do the simplest commands like deleting a file or transfering a file.
    Please help.

Where are you selecting the photos you want to remove from the Photo Stream?
This should work:  See: How to delete photos from Photo Stream
On a Mac using iPhoto 9.2.2 or later, or Aperture 3.2.3 or later:
Select a photo or group of photos from the Photo Stream (or My Photo Stream) view in iPhoto or Aperture.
    Press the Delete key.
    Click Delete.

  • How to add subscribers to photo stream in iPhoto 9.4.3?

How do I add subscribers to photo stream in iPhoto 9.4.3? Help says to choose iCloud in the source list, but my source list does not have that option, it simply says Web and under that.... Photo stream.

You can go through the below link and see if it helps you.

  • HT4906 How can I subscribe to a shared Photo Stream in iPhoto

I'm trying to use iPhoto to subscribe to a shared Photo Stream from my sister-in-law.  Whenever I click on the invitation, it says I need to sign in to iCloud -- which I have multiple times now -- and be running iPhoto 9.4 (which is actually 9.4.2).  So, I've satisfied all the necessary steps, but it's not bringing up iPhoto on my computer.  I have Photo Stream on iPhoto configured to allow subscribing to shared Photo Streams.
    Anyone have any ideas?

Figured it out with a helpful hint from someone elses post.
I have two iCloud accounts.  My System Preferences had iCloud configured with the wrong Apple ID.
The email that gets sent when someone shares a Photo Stream might mention something about the System Preferences -> iCloud needing to be configured if you want to see the shared stream in iPhoto on a Mac.

  • How do I share photo streams between iCloud accounts?

We have two iPhones and iPads with separate icloud accounts.
We want to share one Photo Stream but not the other.
We share a Mac but don't activate Photo Stream on iPhoto.
How do we share the (one) Photo Stream via the iPhone/iPad?
    Thank you.

That's what Photostream is used for.
    Thanks for the responses.
What do you mean by this comment?
It's the current photos that I'm after - I thought thats what Photo Stream did.
Therefore I presume that means that only Albums or inidvidual photos can be shared?
    Many thanks

  • Can't find photo stream on iPhoto

When I first had my iphone in September 2012, my photos were downloaded directly to my macbook through icloud.  Now, I can't seem to see the photos I took on my phone on my computer.  Does anyone know why it would stop working?  Do I need to update iphoto?

Here's what you need to use iCloud and Photo Stream:
What do I need to use Photo Stream?
To use Photo Stream, including Shared Photo Streams, you need an iCloud account, compatible devices, and up-to-date software:
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 6.0 or later
Mac with OS X Mountain Lion v10.8.2 or later and iPhoto 9.4 or Aperture 3.4 or later
PC with Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista (Service Pack 2) and the iCloud Control Panel 2.1 or later for Windows
Apple TV (2nd generation) with Software Update 5.1 or later
You can still use Photo Stream without Shared Photo Streams if your devices meet these requirements:
iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 5.1 or later
Mac with OS X Lion v10.7.5 or later and iPhoto 9.2.2 or Aperture 3.2.3 or later
PC with Windows 7 or Windows Vista (Service Pack 2) and the iCloud Control Panel v2.0 or later for Windows
Apple TV (2nd generation) with Software Update 5.0 or later
The above is from this Apple document: iCloud: Photo Stream FAQ
If your MacBook meets these requirements then try the following:
Disable Photo Stream in the System/iCloud preference pane
and in iPhoto's Photo Share preference pane.
Reboot and reenable both respectively. That should jump start Photo Stream.

  • "Gaps" in photo stream on iPhoto

I am working with pictures I took on a recent vacation, some of which I uploaded from my camera and some of which were taken with my iPhone. When I went to my current photo stream on iPhoto, I noticed that not all of the pictures on my iPhone photostream were on there. And it's not the oldest or the newest that are missing. It's completely random. The photo right before and after it are on iPhoto but the picture between them is missing.
Any ideas as to how to get them to sync properly?  I don't want to have to go through the hassle of emailing them all to myself and uploading them to iPhoto again.
iOS6, Mountain Lion and iPhoto '11 all have the most recent updates, btw.
Thanks to anyone who can help!

Yes Roger thanks, I have Lion.
But till Mobile me will be terminated there will be problem of idenification. For example I saw that it was useful to deselect all sync by itunes for my iPhone because there is a conflict with sync by iCloud.
Also in my mailbox I had an .Mac account wich has been doubled by an ICloud mail box and now only my iCloud mail box receives mail. So I think I can suppress my .Mac mail box which doesn't connect anymore.
Mobile me used to be so simple. I wish they had change once iCloud was really completed.
So I have a dropbox now to do what mobile me used to do and iCloud is not able to do anymore.

  • No shared photo stream on iPhoto '11

Hi! I have been trying to create a shared photo stream from iPhoto on mi iMac, but there is no option to do so, I only get my photo stream. I searched Apple support and supposedly under preferences/photo stream there should be a checkbox to enable the shared photo stream, but I only get three check boxes: "Enable Photo Stream", "Automatic Import" and "Automatic Upload", nothing about the shared photo stream. I have the latest version of iPhoto '11 (9.4.2). Any ideas on how to make it work? Thanks!
    Cesar

Shared Photo Streams require 10.8.2 or later.

  • Slow uploads to Photo Stream via iPhoto

Photos I upload to Photo stream from my Mac (from a DSLR camera) always upload very slowly. They're big images, 2-4 meg, so I would expect them to be slower than from my iPhone, but literally they can take 2-3 minutes each. Anybody know if that's normal? If so, why? If not, any suggestions? Thanks.

Disable Photo Stream in the System/iCloud preference pane
and in iPhoto's Photo Share preference pane.
Reboot and reenable both respectively. That should jump start Photo Stream. Then add photos to the PS again.
