How do I Disable Smart Tags?

How do I turn off smart tags? I am not sure if that is the correct name for them. Everytime I click any button lately, I get a dropdown menu; it is getting very frustrating. I am sure I have clicked on something that activated this, but cannot find what it was and how to change it; help please!

Smart Tags. Maybe, you might want to make a picture of the tag, and show it here. It sounds like you might have unintentionally activated Tabs whenever a new window is opened in Safari; if that's the case, go to Safari/Preferences/Tabs, and unclick the second window.
In any case, post here with your results.

I'm using Pages.app to write a Japanese Document every week.
Everything works great, and I love the new fullscreen mode.
It keeps me away from checking blogs on my breaks! (And that can lead to a very long break.)
Now to the main topic, how do I disable what is called the "Smart Paste"??
There must be some way to do them in terminal, or something...
Having the feature for an English Document must be great.
However, having the feature in a Japanese Document, which technically does not use spaces in a sentence, isn't smart at all...

On Snow Leopard running in French, Pages running in French and Pages running in English behave like the Dale's copy : smart paste.
If my memory is good, some "clipboard enhancers" kill the feature.

Are you able to delete the smart tags now?
If you dont need the smart tags, change your preferences by clicking on Edit->Preferences->Media-Analysis.
Also, for removing the tag, right click on the images and select the Remove Keyword tag option.

CS5 Photoshop - How do I disable Smart Guides

Hello,
Smart guides are driving me mad. It never selects the region I'm selecting. It causes the selection to always jump a little up or to the left or right and then I have to zoom in to readjust the selection. The innacurate selection thanks to these guides are driving me absolutely crazy! Is there a way to disable them because I can't seem to find it.
CS5's logic is really aggravating and slows down the creativew process as I have to interrupt my flow constantly.
Any help is appreciated

I'm not sure if I can get a screenshot that would be helpful. I can try to get some, but in the meantime I can try to describe step by step what I'm trying to do:
1. I select the Marquee toool in order to make a selection around an object I want to modify
2. Then I am simply making my selection
3. The result is the my selection is just slightly off from where I had selected
4. Then in order to fix it I have to zoom in and modify the selection using ctrl/alt+selecting with my mouse
I hope this made it a bit clearer.

In Mac Outlook 2011, when I type a message that contains an apostrophe or a quotation mark, Outlook corrects it to a "smart" apostrophe or a "smart" quotation mark, and I'd rather it didn't.
Is there any way to disable this feature? So far, I've unchecked all the autocorrect and autoformat preferences, and I've set my composition settings to plain text and my encoding settings to UTF-8 (two suggestions I saw elsewhere). None of those worked.

How do I disable Smart Print? Since I enabled smart print this morning I can no longer send pictures

I enabled smart print this morning. Since then I am not able to send pic via my email to print. I received a message from HP's ePrint service saying printing has been delayed because the printer is turned off or not connected to the internet. I like the Smart Print option but I also like being able to print from my Iphone as well ! Is it possible to do both ?

I'm using a Presario desktop & windows 7.
I have done all of the steps suggested here - both the Bing bar program & the HP smartprint 1.0.9.0 are listed.
When I right click the command bar - The HP smartprint icon does NOT show up.
I don't see any thing that I can guess is the Bing Bar.
Help Please This has been going on for way to long!!!!!

How do i disable "smart" links -- those context-aware links auto-created?

I find this iOS feature really annoying, but there doesn't appear to be a toggle switch in Mail Settings. Am I missing something?
I don't want Mail reading my email and making fake links that it thinks I would want.
"Tuesday lunch" is not an event, and i don't need Maps to know where "Austin, Texas" is.
It's just irritating and intrusive.

For what it's worth, Apple's data detectors won't randomly highlight things it thinks you want links to - it only highlights information that you could create new contacts or calendar appointments from.
For example: when someone emails you and within the body of the message they've included their contact info. Hovering over the information will reveal a highlight surrounding the info and a drop down with the option to add it to your address book - no typing!

It can conflict at times with your attempts to copy or highlight text, but I guess I've just gotten used to moving my insertion ibar a little further away.

How do I disable linked smart-object auto-update/refresh?

Working in the CC3D features, I am constantly making changes to my bump map. Every time I step-backwards, or make a significant change to the bump texture (smart object?), CC auto-saves the layer. This specific file is a very very large document (3 gigs in the bump texture layer alone), and the 3D layer has lots of lights and is very complex. This auto-refresh/update really bogs down the time that it would take me to make my changes. I have a very fast machine (I know it's fast, I dont need to list my specs), and I have all shadows disabled.

If you do not like a feature like smart objects there is nothing forcing you to use it. Use some other features to do what you want. Please don't ask Adobe to introduce bug into smart object support.
You could work on your bump maps textures in external files. When your done some time in the future you could edit your project with the smart object layer and use replace smart object. Only then will all smart filters be applied to the smart layer with the replaced smart object.
Or if by CC Auto save Layer you referring to CC Generate feature you can disable that feature.
I have no idea what your referring to when you write "CC auto-saves the layer" being a feature. I know CC Generate will write layers out as web files but that more a Web feature then a 3d feature. Where do you see your layer being saved?

I used Photoshop Elements 6,7,8,9,10 and now 11.
In the passed period I had have an english version and therefore excists the laber smart tags in English and Dutch language.
That 's is why i like to delete de Englih Labels. But how?

i don't think it would be possible to do so since Smart Tags cannot be deleted from the tag tree. In your case, you must be having two sets of smart tags one in EN and one in NL, neither of which can be deleted.

Sorry, my handful of mp3's had the file name as the id3 tag name.
So, I am seeing the same thing as you.
Oddly, a while back I was trying to help someone out in Mountain Lion that wanted to see the id3 tags in the Finder.
It's all a bit silly. They should have added columns instead or changing it to tag song name.
They are transitioning to having everything reflect the content and not the file system, so this may not be reversible.

How do I disable the following function on an iPad mini? Default email account ("From" field) is changed after I select a contact in the "To" field.
iOS 7 notes who the addressee is and what server it came from, then automatically adjusts the From field for you.

Thanks for your reply! Changing the "From" field is only a temporary solution. I have already set the default account.
When I select a photo or a note to send, the "From" field will be automatically changed from my default account to one of my other accounts (depending on what I choose in the "To" field). I just want to stop this so called "Smart account selection" introduced in iOS 7 on my iPad mini. Thanks!

How can I clear out all smart tags?

I just upgraded from Photoshop Elements 6 to Elements 10. In the Elements 6 release you can do a FIND on all untagged items, so I can easily find all pictures that I have not yet gotten around to tagging.
On Elements 10 I find that the software has automatically added a "Smart Tag" tag to ALL of my pictures, making the FIND UNTAGGED useless. I assumed this happened when I converted my catalog. I have now gone back and disabled the Smart Tag feature (now that I know about it) so that new pictures will NOT get Smart Tegged. However, my database of tens of thousands of pictures has been contaminated by Smart Tags.
Is there anyway to get all the Smart Tags cleared out of the database so I can find the pictures that I have not yet manually tagged?
Alternately, is there a way to find pictures that have a Smart Tag but no manual tag?

All autoanalyzer functions should be disabled by default, and only enabled knowingly.
The other lesson is that the Find menu should be able to search for files without a tag while ignoring the 'smart' tags.
The fact that the option to 'remove tags from selected items' cannot be used when you have to many tags (only one page display of tags, without a way to scroll down to next screen) is a bug in my opinion.

When I create rectangle I can't transform it by dragging and it's only the problem with rectangle, not with circle, star etc. I try show/hide edges/bounding box reset preferences and reinstall whole illustrator CC and it's the same. I can only make this right by expand this rectangle, which is shape as is turn out to rectangle by clicking object>shape>expand rectangle. But this is so frustrating. Help!:) oh, and I use OSX. My friend has the same specs and it's works. I mean she can use live shape corner transformations and changing size by draging:(

I’ve created my own plugin (available for free for personal and commercial use) which imitates behavior of the ‘old’ Rectangle Tool. It doesn’t replace the Live Rectangle – it works completely independent!
My Plain Rectangle Tool correctly snaps to grids/objects/points and correctly aligns to grid/points on resize. Of course it supports the SHIFT and ALT/OPTION keys, Snap to Grid and Smart Guides options. In other words it works almost 100% the same as the Rectangle Tool we know from CC (17.1), CS6 and earlier.
The installation package (zxp) adds ‘Plain Rectangle Tool’ icon into the Ai panel (of curse you can assign your custom keyboard shortcut to it as well)
Note: The Plain Rectangle can be easily converted into the Live one using Object > Shape > Convert to Rectangle

I purchased a 1 TB WD passport drive, formatted for Mac. I set it up originally (mistakenly) to backup time machine. I went back and set it to "do not backup" It still backs up evey document I edit. If I add a document when the drive is disconnected, it automatically adds it to the external drive the next time connect to the passport drive. If I remove a document the same thing happens.
I need additional storage to free up space on my laptop hard drive. This is not working the way I want it to. Help!

Do not backup your startup volume to another partition on the same drive. If the drive fails you have nothing. Always backup to another drive or volume on another drive.
The I/O error usually means there's a problem with the drive. Clone ASAP, then repartition and reformat the main drive. Then restore the clone. Here's the basic process:
You will have to backup your OS X partition to an external drive, boot from the external drive, use Disk Utility to repartition and reformat your hard drive back to a single volume, then restore your backup to the internal hard drive.
Get an empty external hard drive and clone your internal drive to the external one.
Boot from the external hard drive.
Erase the internal hard drive.
Restore the external clone to the internal hard drive.
Clone the internal drive to the external drive
Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
Select the destination volume from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Check the box labeled Erase destination.
Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the external backup drive. Source means the internal startup drive.
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager appears. Select the icon for the external drive and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
After startup do the following:
Erase internal hard drive
Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
After DU loads select your internal hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Do not quit Disk Utility.
Restore the clone to the internal hard drive
Select the destination volume from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Check the box labeled Erase destination.
Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the internal hard drive. Source means the external startup drive.
Note that the Source and Destination drives are swapped for this last procedure.
