How do I disable the cmd  shortcut that brings up widgets? It doesn't exist

Annoying.
So I'm in FCPX and I'm trying to use the "cmd+" shortcut to zoom in on the timeline. Apparently, Apple has made this the default shortcut for widgets.
I went into the keyboard shortcuts under system preferences. First, I set all shortcuts to default.... still happens. Then I scroll through the list to unselect or change the "cmd+" shortcut. However, it doesn't exist on the list. I went in every menu and submenu of the shortcut list. It's not there.
Any help would save my brown hairs from turning gray.
Thanks!

My account is not a new user account. I've had it for ages across 2 computers and 3 operating systems. It started happening to me after I accidently mashed CMD and few keys together. Reverting all the keyboard shortcuts back to standard setting does nothing.

  • How do I disable the webpage preview that pops up when I hover my mouse over a tab?

I don't know why this started today, but it is driving me nuts!
I was surfing the net, when all of a sudden I noticed that whenever I hovered my mouse over one of my tabs, a (poorly rendered) preview of the webpage popped up from my mouse. I really do not need this feature. I don't need to have a mini-webpage preview of another tab.
Please, how do I disable this feature?
*note: I have disabled all my add-ons, and still nothing. I disabled my hardware acceleration, and still nothing. Please!

I've never noticed that. Do these old threads shed any light?

  • How do I disable the new feature that disables outdated plugins unless they are clicked?

I'm running Adobe Acrobat 8. I'm happy with it. Firefox has a new feature that automatically disables the PDF plugin unless it's clicked. It's called the "Click to Play" feature. Even when disabled, it's not really disabled: it activates itself for "vulnerable plugins." Though there is an option to make a website trusted for plugins, there is seemingly no way to make the PLUGIN ITSELF trusted. As a result, every time I get a PDF, I have to Click to Play.
Question: How do I truly disable this stupid new feature?
There is the following support article that explains this new system, and that the only solution is trust a website, but apparently can't disable the feature or trust the plugin:
    http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/why-do-i-have-click-activate-plugins?esab=a&s=disable+click+to+play&r=13&as=s

  • Is there a way to permanantly disable the F7 shortcut for cadet browsing?

I'd like to use the F7 button as a hotkey to play/pause my media player, however whenever I press it I get prompted about "cadet browsing". Checking the "Do not show me this dialogue box again" has no effect, it will continue to pop up.

In Firefox 3.6 and later versions you can disable the F7 shortcut that toggles caret browsing by setting the pref accessibility.browsewithcaret_shortcut.enabled to false on the about:config page if you do not want to use this feature.
To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />

the keyboard shortcut that turns an exclamation mark into an apostrophe no longer works in iOS 6. How can I restore that shortcut?

Well, I for one really hate when they change this stuff.  They get us used to doing it one way for years and then they change it.  Why?  Really, seriously, truly......WHY?
In fact, I originally noticed it had changed and then when I'd hit it, I thought it required me to touch both so I ended up with an apostrophe but then also a letter "l".  I just left commas everywhere I went for a while cuz it ticked me off so bad I just rebelled.
In ios5 it was actually faster because it's the same move and time involved, but without the extra "slide".  So, in essence, Apple went backwards.
    Nice, eh?

Sounds like a file association issue in Windows. Right click on the files of interest and select Open With>Choose Default Program and select the program you want used (be sure the "always use" box is checked. The Acrobat installation should not have done this change, but this is the process to make the change on each file type.

  • How do I disable the mute microphone icon on the Facetime page so that others can hear me speak, in addition to them seeing me?

How do I disable the "mute microphone" icon on the Facetime page, so that the video recipient can not only see me,(which they can), but also to hear me as well?

When you are on a Facetime call, click on "Video" on the top menu bar.  You'll see "Unmute" on the dropdown menu -- click on it.  Your mic should now be unmuted.  Note: You must be on a Facetime call, otherwise the mute/unmute option will be grayed out.
Of course, when your mic is unmuted the option will turn to mute.

  • How do I disable the Safari quit warning?

Talk about annoying. How to I disable the warning that asks me if I am sure I want to quit? I am pretty sure that when I choose Quit I am sure I want to and I am sick of choosing Shut Down, and coming back a day later to see it didn't shut down because Safari couldn't quit, and that my monitors have been blazing for a day on the same screen.
Can't find anything in the prefs to shut this stupid warning off.

The warning can be disabled: Safari > Preferences > Tabs, uncheck the box for "Confirm when closing multiple pages."
The warning occurs when you try to quit when you have +multiple windows or tabs open+. This optional warning is the result of requests from many of us who use the Command-W shortcut to close a tab, since it is very easy to accidentally hit Command-Q instead and lose everything one was working on.

  • How do I disable the hardware acceleration in Flash player on a Windows XP machine remotely?

How do I disable the hardware acceleration in Flash player on a Windows XP machine remotely?
I have a few hundred computers running Adobe Flash Player.
The operation system is Windows XP.
They are Compaq 6005 desktop PC’s, with an inbuilt ATI radeon HD 4200 video card.
We have a persistent issue where viewing a flash video (e.g. something on youtube) causes the video card driver to crash.  You are left with no video signal to the monitor.  Audio continues and the computer still responds to commands. This only happens when watching flash video.
    We have tried:
    Updating flash plugin (numerous versions)
Updating the video card drivers (we have tried the last three video card driver versions, including the HP drivers and ATI drivers)
Updating the browsers (this problem happens with IE8/9 and Firefox10/11/12)
There seems to be two ways to work round this issue.  One is to disable the video acceleration in the ‘troubleshoot’ section in the advanced part of the display settings area in windows.  The other way is to start a flash video, right click, go to ‘settings’ and untick the box marked ‘Enable Hardware Acceleration’.
Doing either of these things allows the user to view flash videos with no apparent issues.
Is there a way to disable the hardware acceleration in Flash without visiting the PC?  Perhaps an undocumented option in the mms.cfg file? I understand that you can use an option to skip the video card check, and so force hardware acceleration on, can you do the opposite?
    Thanks in advance
    Daniel.

    Hi.
I have had over 200 views, and no suggestions as to how this could be fixed.
I have also posted in the general flash forum, that thread has fewer views.
If I should put this question in a different forum please let me know which one.
If what I am asking is not possible is there a mechanism for escalating this issue or requesting a feature for the next version of flash?
    Thanks.
