How do i disable the firefox software updater which pop out whenever i start firefox? I use Firefox 24 and already disabled it through "options"

I already applied the "never Check for updates" option in Options>advanced.
But it is always asking...

Are you using the Firefox 24.0 Release which is four versions/security updates behind or are you using the Firefox ESR which is based on Firefox 24.0 and currently at 24.'''4'''.0 security update in line with Firefox 28.0 release.
If you are using the Firefox 24.0 release and want to stay on 24.0 then to be up to date security wise you could use the 24.4.0esr instead. The next version ESR will be based on will not be until Firefox 31.0 and the 24 esr will have a couple update then still.

  • I downloaded Firefox 5 and discovered it disabled my McAfee SiteAdvisor becauce of incompatability. How do I delete the Firefox 5 and reload my old Firefox 4 so I can reactivate the SiteAdvisor.

I downloaded Firefox 5 and discovered it disabled my McAfee SiteAdvisor because of incompatibility. No compatible version of the SiteAdvisor was found. How do I delete the Firefox-5 and reload my old Firefox-4 so I may reactivate the SiteAdvisor?
    Thank you

McAfee have taken the decision to rewrite the Firefox SiteAdvisor plugin to make it easier to update. This should ensure that Mozilla's fast-release schedule does not cause lengthy delays after future version updates. What it means for Firefox now though is that until the rewrite is complete - and tested - SiteAdvisor is being prevented from loading in Firefox in order to avoid the possibility of software incompatibility.
The SA rewrite is projected to take a few weeks to complete and test; it should be ready by about the third week of July, although the exact date is not being given at this stage. It could be earlier.
In the meantime, users who are concerned about the safety of websites may wish to consider WOT as a temporary substitute. WOT ratings are set by user consensus rather than by automated site testing, so WOT is not a full replacement for SiteAdvisor. It is, however, a good rating tool in its own right (I use both it and SiteAdvisor in all my browsers) and is apparently unaffected by the upgrade to FF5.
There is a discussion about this on the McAfee forums [https://community.mcafee.com/thread/36733?tstart=0 HERE]

  • How can I cancel the iOS software update?

For some reason, iOS 6 has decided to download on my iPod Touch through WiFi. I didn't request it, nothing is set to automatically update in the Touch settings, or iTunes. It seemed to start downloading when I  synced the Touch. I've disconnected the Touch from WiFi temporarily. How can I cancel the download, or will there be an option when it's done downloading to cancel the install?
    Thanks for any help...

I had the SAME problem & it was incredibly frustrating.  Having WiFi disabled for days caused me to eat up A LOT of my data plan.  It is total BS that there is no way to cancel an OTA download.  And it is total BS that no one can get ANY help on this issue.  There should be a way to cancel or at least downgrade if you don't like the newest iOS.
So, since Apple won't let you downgrade if you went ahead & installed it, and Apple won't help AT ALL if you don't want iOS 6, I had to figure it out myself.  Here's what I did....
The stupid iOS 6 update that nobody wants needs a certain amount of free space in order to download & install.  I had started the download & disabled WiFi like you did, so the download was paused.  While it was paused, I set my video camera to record & it sat there & recorded for like 2.5 hours (ugh) before it finally took up all the space on my phone.  Then, I went back in & enabled WiFi & checked the piece of junk iOS 6 install & it now said it couldn't download b/c there wasn't enough space.
I figured this solution still s ucks b/c now I can't download any apps or take any more pics or vids.  About 30 minutes later, though, I went back to the horrible iOS 6 download & a message popped up saying there wasn't enough space.  When I hit "OK" or whatever to clear the message, the screen had reset & gone back to the "download & install" button.  FINALLY I was able to stop the download & installation of iOS 6.  THANK GOD.  I want nothing to do with it, and there is NO WAY Apple is taking my Google Maps or YouTube.

  • How do i uninstall the recent software update?

I just updated to version 4.3 and does not work properly.  Can I go back to the previous version?

You know what Verizon, you have customers who DO NOT want these freaking BLOATED updates. This 4.3 update completely sucks!
    1. When I pull down the taskbar, how do I make the WIFI (bout **** time you added that), GPS, Sound, etc SMALLER?
    2. On my lock screen, how do I uninstall that **** widget for date/time and go back to my default screen that sat CENTERED in the middle of my screen?
    3. On the lock screen, why is it so hard to swipe to unlock it now? Hint, that **** date/time widget is getting in the freaking way
    4. How do I get my taskbar to NOT blend in with the rest of the wallpaper? You obviously didn't consult people with vision issues first.
    5. YES, it appears I'm having the power sucking issue other people have reported.
You know what, I work in an office w/ a bunch of people who have iPhones. At least their interface pretty well stays the same.  I DO NOT want fluff. I want a functional phone. This 4.3 update for me personally is not functional but a huge irritant. Coupled with Verizon used to rule the airwaves here where I live (Northern Indiana) in the analog days but SUCK in the digital world, I guess I'll have to talk to AT&T when my contract is up.
This phone as it is right now is **NOT** worth the money I'm paying for it.
The problem is NOT the Samsung S3, it's YOUR PROGRAMMING Verizon.
I has a Samsung S3 from US Cellular and LOVED that phone. They kept their crap off of it and left the phone alone. It worked GREAT. The same can NOT be said for the Verizon version.

  • TS1398 My wife's 4s won'tallowthe wi-fi setting to work, it's grayed out.  I have reset the network settings 4+times and stil lnothing.  Under General, About the Wi-Fi shows N/A.  I bleive all this was caused by the latest software update which was waitin

My wife's 4s needed to update the software.  when it was updated/downlaoded the Wi-Fi would not work.  It is currently grayed out and under General, About: the Wi-Fi is N/A.  Does anyone have a suggestion to correct.  I called Apple support and they felt it was the software update because it worked prior to the update however they wanted to charge 19.95 to assist.  Thank you all.

If it is a hardware issue, then you don't get charged the $19.  But, if it turns out to be a setting you messed up, then YES, they will want to charge you $19 to help you learn how to use your phone after your 90-days of FREE phone support expired.  Or you could read the manual or articles that are available for free online.
Basically, if you want someone to hold your hand, then you'll pay for it.
However.... having said all of that, try this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1559

  • How do I delete the iOS6 software update files from my iPhone?

My iPhone 4 automatically downloaded the iOS6 update. I have no intention to update because of the change to the maps. I use the maps everyday for work. Every feauture and detail is extremely important, so I don't appreciate Google Maps being replaced with a broken, inferior mess. I have a 16GB model and the files take up 2GB of space in 'Other Data'. I just went through my phone clearing data since the phone was full, and now it's filled up again with a 2GB file...
Is there a way to delete the downloaded update, or am I going to be forced to update if I want to remove the files?

Go to Settings>iTunes & App Stores
Click the Apple ID at the top then click Sign out on the pop up menu.
If there are any apps that the old user has downloaded on your iPhone still you will need to delete them as it will ask for the password whenever you try to up date them

  • How do I fix, "The iPhone software update server could nto be contacted."

I have enabled iTunes in the firewall, updated windows, restarted 3x...when I try to get Apple support it says I have an outdated browser on my laptop and iPad.  my iPhone is garbage until this is resolved - just keeps telling me to plug into iTunes.  Trying to update iTunes I get, "the iTunes server could not be contacted.  Please check your internet connection, or try again later."

Trying to update iTunes I get, "the iTunes server could not be contacted.  Please check your internet connection, or try again later."
Try updating your iTunes using an iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer file downloaded from the Apple Website:

  • How do I get the lastest software update?

    est

You as likely to never see an update as you are to ever see one. Given the long list of broken promises and excuses we've seen it's painfully apparent to me that there is a flaw in this device that neither Microsoft or Verizon will admit to.

  • In FF8.01 how can I prevent the add-on check which pops up each time I start the program?

In Firefox 8.01, each time I start Firefox, a box pops up indicating the program is checking to see if my addons are compatible. There are currently 3 which are not, and this box simply delays the program start to tell me the same thing every time I start Firefox. Most annoying. Is there a way I can prevent this box from appearing, or reduce it to once a week or once a month?

FF9 does not seem to have the automatic plugin check, so the problem appears solved. Thanks !!

  • How to stop the GarageBand software update reminder

I do not use GarageBand and I do not have much concern about the disk space.  However, I felt annoyed the GarageBand software update always pops up.   How can this be stopped?

One way to deal with this is...    System Preferences>Software Update... and uncheck the 'Check for Updates' box. You will have to check manually but that should stop the schedualed pop ups.
    Hope that helps.

How do i restore my iphone when it has been disabled and cannot be restored through itunes because of the error message that says "The iphone software update server could not be contacted

Have you jailbroken this device? This will make the iPhone not talk to the Software Update Server (that signs and accepts software updates) please refer to the following link? Error 3194, Error 17, or "This device isn't eligible for the requested build"
The iPhone will talk to the software update servers, just need to change the host files, it's a simple process, sorry if you were confused about the wording in to top?

  • IPod Touch 4gen disabled "The iPod Software update server could not be contacted" Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active or try again later.  Please help!

My daughter forgot her passcode.  Her iPod Touch 4gen is disabled.  I've tried everything I've read online.  I get to the "Restore" part on iTunes and then I get the message, "The iPod Software update server could not be contacted.  Make sure your network connections are correct and your network connection is active or try again later."  How can this be so hard to do?  Why isn't there a simpler solution.  I live 2 hours from the nearest Apple store.  Any advice you may offer would be very much appreciated.

    Update Server
    Try:
    - Powering off and then back on your router.
    - iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
    - Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
    Public DNS — Google Developers
    OpenDNS IP Addresses
    - Try on another computer/network
    - Wait if it is an Apple problem
