How do I disable the "restore last session" feature in safari 5

Hei folks,
I recently updated to OSX Lion and my Safari Version is Version 5.1 (7534.48.3).
Since this update when I close (cmd+q) Safari with one or more tabs open and start safari again the tabs are restored (opended automatically). This behaviour is very wrong to me as I almost never need the "old" tabs and actually want to instantly type the adress I want to go to which is only possible on a blank page.
How can I disable this behaviour/feature?
Thanks in advance

PS: I looked through the options several times but could not find anything related.

WOW!!! There's no need for all that. That's just overkill right there!
Just disable the option that Apple provided and get on with your life.
If your truly stuck in a loop and that doesn't resolve it, you can do the following. FYI: This is also the answer to the question posted in your link at the very end. I've copied and pasted it for your convenience.
Question: If anyone knows of a startup key/mouse combination to avoid restoring from the Saved State file for a previously crashed application, I'd appreciate hearing how to do that. I searched and did not find anything.
Answer:
Hold down the "Shift" key
Open/Click on Safari
Let go of the "Shift" key
Safari will now open in a new state.

Consider using a separate password protected Operating System account, if possible, that may help.
You may use [[Private Browsing]] to prevent some of these problems occurring.

  • Restore Last Session Feature?

Is there an option for Adobe Reader to "restore last session" when the program starts?
So when I start the reader, it automatically opens the previous documents being viewed.

There is no such option. But there is a way by which Adobe Reader restores last view setting when you reopen the documents.
Option present under Reader->Edit->Preferences-.Documents-"Restore last view settings......"

  • How can I disable the touchpad right click feature?

I don't know how exactly, but I believe that on my Pavilion 15 laptop it is possible to right click by doing some weird tap thing on the touchpad. I only want to right click using the right click button and find it annoying when I try to use the touchpad to normal click but it right clicks instead.
When I go to the synaptics settings panel I can't see anything about disabling the right click on the touchpad feature. ANy idea how I can disable it? The touchpad is the same texture/look for all of it - I can't see or feel any designated right click zone. Thanks

  • How can I disable the blue highlight on textfields in Safari and Firefox, using CSS?

Hi, I'm trying to disable the default blue highlight on textfields in Safari and Firefox. I can get it to work in Safari by using the following CSS code:
    input {outline-style: none;}
This doesn't work for Firefox, though.
Can anyone help me to get it to work in Firefox?
    Thanks in advance!

Are you referring the the border color or the actual field color?
For field colour see the section on the input tag.
However if it is the border color, this is set by the browser o/s, and cannot be changed with any 'cross-browser' technique, it can be changed in IE and other browsers using custom behaviors (IE), or by using custom skins (others).
But the skins are only enabled by the user, and changing the chrome of the browser for form fields using JavaScript would probably affect the entire browser anyway.

  • I mistakenly deleted the files that allowed for the restore last session tab on homepage; how to reinstall?

I was cleaning up desktop and deleted a firefox file that I didn't recognize....it ended up being the one that allows for opening up the previous session

I have no idea how/why it was on desktop....and I emptied the recycle bin already! I was just trying to get organized a bit and clean up clutter...but I did use that feature almost daily, as it helped me to just close up the computer in the evening without worrying about getting to all the work the next day, as I would now immediately remember what I was doing!

  • How do I disable the "Resume Previous Session" function? It's a recurity risk.

I'm talking about the little blue box that appears in the middle when you first open Firefox.

It is best to avoid Firefox closing down that way via the task manger because it prevents Firefox from flushing all data that is kept in memory to disk and can cause profile corruption.
Firefox stores session data in the sessionstore.js in the profile folder.

It is best to use this setting to prevent losing currently open tabs.

  • How do I disable the "de-emphasise tabs" feature in the new version of Firefox?

The new "tabs are visually de-emphasized" makes my tabs look all run together. Rather than reducing the clutter it makes it harder to distinguish what I've got open and what I don't have open.
For the moment I'm using an add-on that that changes the UI to look like Chrome so that I can see my tabs, but I'd like to find out how to switch this feature of the recent update.

I should clarify... I'm not trying to get Firefox to look like Chrome. I'm using an add-on that I found which does that as a work around for the problem (and yes, I know there is a subtle vertical line between the tabs... my point is that it's too subtle).
Is there perhaps an add-on that makes the tabs look like the prior version of Firefox's tabs? Again; I am NOT trying to make Firefox look like Chrome... I just want the tabs to be more visible.
This new feature seems pretty useless to my thinking, since it only emphasizes the tab you are on (and you presumably know which tab you're on since that's the page you're looking at) and runs all your other tabs together making it hard to distinguish between them (and the point of tabs is to be able to easily switch between them).
I tend to multitask and frequently have upwards of 20 tabs open at a time (in each browser that I'm using, usually two, sometimes 3 at a time). With a lot of tabs open the new look really gets messy fast, turning all the tabs into a single amalgam. I just want to be able to see my tabs again.

  • How can I disable the "forget this site" feature?

I meant to delete a page from my browser's history, and accidentally clicked on "forget this site." I cannot find any information online for undoing this action. I don't want my history to forget this site.

"Forget About This Site" will remove all the current content (e.g. bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, exceptions) that you have saved from a website.
It doesn't have any lasting effect, so if you revisit such a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.
You can not recover the forgotten data unless you have a backup of the affected files in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder]

  • How do I disable the firefox 6.0 feature in which group tabs all don't load upon startup?

OS is Windows 7 x64. I have defined four tab groups. Only one of them loads when I start Firefox. I understand that this is a new feature in 6.0, but I would like the option to revert to the prior behavior. I looked in about:config, but didn't find anything that seemed to apply.

After more research, I answered my own question. To load all group tabs upon startup, change the value of the following entry in about:config:
    browser.sessionstore.restore_hidden_tabs
    to true.

  • Undo Closed Tab/Restore Last Session

Hello there. There seems to be a problem with the "Undo Closed Tab". The feature is active ( button is not faded out/grey ) , but after pressing it , nothing happens. This came to being when Aurora was updated to v29. The daily updates ( well , not so daily ) , does not seem to fix this problem , and there is nothing on the internet that helps. I tried resetting all values in "browser.sessionstore.*" , but nothing happened. There is also another problem : i can't seem to find the "Restore last session" button on startup screen. I didn't find it in the Library ( CTRL-Shift-H ). Any ideas ?

The "old" home page was about:home (you can open about:about to see more about: pages).
Can you confirm that sessionstore.js is being created and updated as you browse?
You can open your current Firefox settings (AKA Firefox profile) folder using
Help > Troubleshooting Information > "Show Folder" button
If you find one or more files named sessionstore but not sessionstore.js, Windows may be hiding file extensions from you. To work with files as accurately as possible, I suggest unhiding them. This Microsoft support article has the steps: [http://support.microsoft.com/kb/865219].
