How do I disable the wireless button on my Acer Aspire 3000

I got my Broadcomm wireless working, and everything's great, except for the design of this stupid laptop. The button that toggles the wireless is positioned in a way that if I am leaning back with the laptop on my lap, my belt or stomach often accidentally turns the wireless off.
Is there a way I can keep the WLAN working, and just disable this stupid button?

If the button on your laptop is anything like the one on my old one (an old model Sony Vaio), the switch is actually a hardware switch that simply completes a circuit and provides power to the wireless card. If this is the case, short of taping the button in the 'on' position or opening the case to solder the connection, I don't see a way to keep it on indefinitely.

    Windows 7. Pushing wireless button does not work. No menu option for turning off or disabling.

    Try going into the wireless menu and then select Restore Network Defaults.  In that same menu there should be a wireless off setting, or perhaps pushing (and holding) the wireless button will now work.

  • How can I disable the previous button in the first page and the next button in the last page?

    Hi all,
    I have created a new skin for a webhelp by modifying the layout and the buttons. However, I am not able to find a way where in we can
    disable the previous button ini the first page of the webhelp and hte the next page in the last page of the webhelp. If both the next and previous button is visibile in the first and last page, it is sort of misguiding the user.
    I am using Robohelp 9.
    Please advice.
    Thanks,
    Parag

    I think you are mixing Previous and Next in a browse sequence and the Previous and Next that you get in the browser itself.
    In a browse sequence, they are automatically disabled at the start and finish. When in the first topic in the sequence only Next will be enabled, when in the last topic only previous will be enabled.
    Previous and Next in the browser are working on the topics your user has viewed which is not the same thing.

  • How can I disable the mouse button 4 and 5 "forward" and "back" functions through firefox?

    I've seen this problem come up on forums before but was unable to find a good solution.
    When using Ventrilo, I have my speak button bound to the mouse button 4 of my logitech mouse. This button is conveniently placed for gaming because it makes use of my otherwise unused right thumb, and I have been using it for years and probably couldn't adjust if i tried to change it.
    Firefox uses mouse button 4 for the "back" function, meaning that if i'm on ventrilo while browsing the web with firefox, i have to remember to move the cursor to the menu bar at the bottom of my screen or go back a page. it's infuriating if i forgot, especially if i'm playing some sort of browser game at the time, as i basically have to restart whatever i'm doing.
    The only solutions i've found for this involve binding mouse button 4 to some other (rarely used) key, which is an annoying solution at best, or changing some vital computer files, which I dont have the expertise to do myself and dont trust anyone else to do for me. It's an absolutely unacceptable solution anyway: why should i have to change my computer's files to disable a function which should be editable through firefox?
    does anyone know how this can be fixed? or know how we can get mozilla to put this feature into some future patch, as other people have been asking them to do for YEARS?

    This can be a highly frustrating problem. I just spent 45 minutes working on an email. Nearing the end I go to grab my mouse after typing and accidentally hit mouse 4 and lose everything. This isn't the first time I have lost work or an email. I would say the ONLY reason why there currently lacks a strong feedback against this is because the majority of people do not have mouse 4+5 buttons on their mice. Please add the option to just disable this "feature". It's just far to easy to accidentally hit these buttons accidentally and potentially lose a lot. I don't know anyone who actually uses these buttons anyways.

    Hello,
    I'd ask in the
    Windows XP forum on Microsoft Community.
    Windows XP is no longer supported, but there is a thriving volunteer community there.
    As the Microsoft Community is on a different platform, we cannot move the question for you.

    Dear Experts
    In the SharePoint List 2010, need to disable / hide the Delete button while editing the item based on certain condition (based on logged in user)
    E.g, if UserA logged then should able to delete the item in EditItem mode
          if UserB logged then should not delete the item in EditItem mode
    How to achieve this?

    Hi Santosh, it's you again! ;)
    I don't think this is possible. You can remove it for all users, but not sure how you could accomplish it just for certain users. See the following link for more info.:

  • How can I disable the Wireless Keypad?

    The touchscreen tablet chirps all day about a "Communications Failure" with the wireless keypad.  The tablet itself and our iPhones are all we use to arm/disarm the system.  Plus, the wireless kepad goes through batteries like nuts.  How can we either disable the keypad, or disable the notifications?

    I think you can remove the wireless keypad with the touchscreen. Go to settings, enter the installer code, find the keypad and remove it. If it burns through battery's it probably is too far away from the touch screen with not enough other devices in between. If you would place some other zigbee devices in between the keypad wouldn't need to increase it's radio signal to communicate.

  • How can I disable the wireless status LED (T61)?

    When I'm working on my laptop and listening to, for example, online radio the wireless status led under the screen keeps blinking (data is being transmitted). I find this extremely annoying and distracting. Is there any way to disable the LED? (but obviously I would still need to be connected). I'm using windows xp on a thinkpad T61.
    Help much appreciated!

    i would use a black permanent marker or something, or a black sticker. This is the easiest and safest way of doing it, it is perfectly reversable.

  • How to disable the Tools Button in Bex Analyzer

    Hi Guys,
    How do I disable the Tools button only in Bex Analyzer so as to avoid the users messing with Query Designer.
    Thanks,
    Recca

    Recca,
    Can you do this via authoirsations instead?  ie. Allow two types of users, Designers who have access and Users who don't.
    User will be able to access the Query Desinger but have no access to create or save. That should suffice.
    If you start tweaking with the toolbar it may have wider negative implications.

  • How to disable the cancel button in the ProgressMonitor

    hi,
    I need to know, is there any way to disable/remove the (cancel)button in the ProgressMonitor?
    One more problem is,
    Once i click the cancel button, isCanceled() return true, how to make it false again so that the process continue....
    It is very urgently.....
    please help me out.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Deepa Raghuraman

    I don't think that's a good solution, because Cancel button itself is not disabled, so user is tempted to click it and nothing happens.
    A better but dangerous solution is this:
    progressMonitor = new ProgressMonitor(ProgressMonitorDemo.this,
                                         "Running a Long Task",
                                         "", 0, 100);
    progressMonitor.setMillisToDecideToPopup(0);
    progressMonitor.setMillisToPopup(0);
    progressMonitor.setProgress(0);
    JDialog dialog = (JDialog)progressMonitor.getAccessibleContext().getAccessibleParent();
    JOptionPane pane = (JOptionPane)dialog.getContentPane().getComponent(0);
    pane.setOptions(new Object[]{});Refer to the same question here [http://stackoverflow.com/questions/512151/how-do-i-disable-the-cancel-button-when-using-javax-swing-progressmonitor] .

  • How can i disable a submit button and execute submit_action method on click

    Good Day,
    On my page I have a submit button that execute the submit_action method of the page backing bean that submit data captured on the page into a database and activate another class that send mail at the same time on a click of the submit button,the mail process takes a while before returning back to the page.I was able to disable the submit button to prevent the user from keep click while the process is running but the issue is on clicking the submit button it only disable the submit button without executing the submit_action method of the page backing bean.How can i disable the submit button and execute submit_method of the backing bean at the same time.
    Thanks in advance.

    I tried this out on one of my pages to see if it works.
    First, I added the following JavaScript to my submit button's onClick event:
    this.disabled=true; return true;When I clicked the submit button, it was disabled but the form was not submitted.
    I deleted the JavaScript from the onClick event and added the following JavaScript to the form's onSubmit event:
    var button = document.getElementById("form1:submitButton"); button.disabled=true; return true;When I click the submit button, it was disabled and the form was submitted but the button's action method was not called.
    The next thing I tried was to change the onSubmit event code:
    var button = document.getElementById("form1:submitButton"); setTimeout("button.disabled=true", 500); return true;This seemed to work. The difference was that I added a 1/2 second delay before disabling the button.
    See if that works for you. If not then I'm fresh out of ideas.

  • How can I disable the Send to Email button?

    Hi all,
    While creating a basic user ID in BOBJ 4.1 we found that even though we disable their Send Email rights in the BI Launchpad, they are still able to send emails from within the Analysis for OLAP tool.
    The reason why this is a problem is it asks users for a "From" email address, where they can put any email address from within the corporate network, which can result in the following scenario, where anyone can impersonate anyone else in the company.
    Does anyone know how we can restrict the Send Button, or at least remove the "From" field so users can only send emails from their own email address? In Webi, there is a specific right for this called "Desktop Interface - Send By Mail" but there is nothing like this as far as I can tell in any of the Analysis-related security items.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    John Cintolo

    What would be the point? Any user can download the file from the web: right click then save as. If you want users not to be able to open a pdf file after they view it one time, then Adobe has a DRM solution that can do this. It does cost a bit of change though.
