How do I do "Find My iPad must be turned off-" when I cannot get past the iPad "Enter Passcode"?

I reset the passcode on the iMac, but I cannot retore the iPad because it wants the passcode entered. It does not recognize the passcode was set on the iMac and instead displays: "Find My iPad must be turned off before "<iPad name>" can be restored. Go to iCloud Settings on your iPad and turn off Find My iPad before restoring your iPad." I'm chasing my tail with this because I cannot get on the iPad iCloud Settings to turn off Find My iPad. I'm running iOS 7.1 and the iPad is backed up and synced to the iMac. What can I do?

FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note:
1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.

  • Cannot get past the 'find my...' advert to reach the sync screen

    Hey all,
This is the first time I have posted so apologies if its in the completely wrong place, or my issue is very stupid and easy to fix.
I connect my ipad to the computer and when itunes brings up the device down the left hand column, it attempts to bring up an advert for the 'find my iphone' application. I have seen this come up on someone else's computer and it has images and large tabs to click, however my advert appears unformatted with text all bunched together and a plain background. I can also not click the links, when i do nothing happens.
The advert is not displaying correctly but i have no idea how to get past it to the sync screen as i cant click to get rid of it!
    Any ideas?
    Thanks for any help

I highly suggest you download and install Find My IPad. It is free and helps you find, erase, lock your iPad if needed.
Have you tried simply pressing Return to get past the screen?
    Also, try this...
    Quit iTunes.
Go into Control Panel, Add/Remove programs, select QuickTime then Repair it.
    Spanky,
Also, please don't say advert. Use Ad or advertisement because using words like advert make it harder to understand what you're talking about
Really? Perhaps it is difficult for you to understand but for millions and millions of others (literally), especially in Europe (poster is from UK) "advert" is a perfectly acceptable and standard abbreviation/colloquialism of "advertisement".
Many people from many different geographical areas post here. If you don't understand what is posted, just ask for clarification.

  • HT3576 How can I get rid of "Connect to itunes to use push notifications" pop-ups.  I just had to replace my iPhone 5 and when I did a restore from backup, most of my apps will not let me in becuase I cannot get past the"connect to itunes..." message.

My iPhone 5 was distroyed so I replaced it with a new iPhone 5 yesterday.  I did a restore from a backup that i had performed a week ago.  When I tried to use the phone several of my apps would not let me in becuase they continually gave me a popup message "Connect to Itunes to use push notifications".  I click ok and the popup comes back.  I have shut my phone off several times.  I have complete closed the apps several times.  I have even deleted the apps from my phone and reinstalled.  All to no avail.  Please help - does anyone know how to fix this?

Yes - I connected my phone to my computer / Itunes and went into the apps section, but from there I have no idea how to manage the push notifications.  I even tryied going into itunes that is installed on my phone.  I still cannot find anyplace to manage these popups.  I have also gone into settings - notifiations - and tried turning all notifications for these apps all off but that didnt work either.  Any guidance is MUCH appreciated - Im not sure where to go from here.

  • I cannot get past the usb picture on my 3gs,how can i update without connecting to itunes

I am unable to update my 3gs by connecting it to itunes, i have reset it via itunes but thats as far as i can get, i cant even get to the home screen to connect to wi fi,
I would like to contact apple to rectify this matter but i begrudge paying £25,

You can't get past it without connecting to iTunes. You must restore the phone using iTunes. It's in recovery mode.
You said you "reset it via itunes"... what does that mean? What happened? Did you get an error message? What did it say?
Make an appointment at the genius bar and have them look at it if nothing else. They won't charge you anything to diagnose it.

  • My new iMac had the old data transferred in-store but now it won't accept the password on the first screen. How can I reset this? I can't get past the first screen as a result.

I cannot get past the initial screen on my new iMac. Data was transferred from my old computer so when I turned it on It automatically had my name in the window and asked for the password, but none of my old passwords seem to be accepted. How can I fix this?? It's a new IMac with osx.

Which password isn't working? The one to access the iPad or the one to get your hotmail?
If hot mail, you go into the settings, mail, contacts and calendars and edit your hot mail account. Of if it won't edit, delete it off the iPad, then re-add it with the new password.

Ipad mini screen unresponive. soft boot makes no difference. trying to access itunes to reset ipad but cannot get past the trust message request. using the imac that normally syncs with the ipad. any ideas

    Hi gav55,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you want to use your iMac to restore your iPad, but the iPad is unresponsive.
If you have restarted the iPad but the behavior continues, try to reset it next:
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
If the touchscreen is completely unresponsive, the advice in this article may also be helpful:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Troubleshooting touchscreen response
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1827
If the iPad continues to be unresponsive, you may need to place the device in recovery mode before restoring it:
If you can't update or restore your iOS device
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
Recovery mode erases your device and restores it, which should resolve the issue. If you previously synced with iTunes or iCloud, you may be able to restore from your backup after recovery.
    All the best,
    Jeremy

My newly updated iPad 2 wants an email for the apple ID.  My apple ID is not an email address.  How can I get past the set-up screen?
I can't change my Apple ID.  It would mess all my stuff up.

To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone (if you're using iOS 7), then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.  If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https//appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • How do I make my iPad turn off when the screen is covered?

My old iPad would turn off when I closed the cover but I cannot find how to make the iPad air turnoff in a similar fashion?

    dpna wrote:
Yes it is a proper cover
If it is an APPLE COVER, perhaps it's not the one for that model. But, if it's not an Apple cover, then maybe the manufacturer hasn't set up the magnets the way they are supposed to be.
I'm going to quote from another post elsewhere ...
Are you using a genuine Apple cover or another third party cover?
It's the magnets in the cover which activate the lock/unlock feature to appear in your settings. In earlier iPads you could slide a magnet down the side of the iPad to find where the magnet activates and turn the feature on.....Apple have now changed how this works with the iPad Air. Whereas before there was only 1 magnet positioned in the cover for earlier iPads, it is now thought there are 2 with alternating polarity.
So if you want this feature you will need to buy an Apple cover or wait for third party manufacturers to get their magnets in the correct position.
If you do have a genuine Apple cover then there is something going wrong here....

That is so dumb...Apple is the best and most techinological company IN THE WORLD and they don't have the time to invent something like that? HUH? All they are worried about is making the "Worlds best Phone" and they can't take the time out to help their users or anybody that has their products. All they have is "Find mt Iphone" Well they should step up and do something else to help people like me out. Find a way to turn it on and you can find it or find a way to turn it on remotely.
