How do I downgrade back to Lion and get a refund?

Purchased Mountain Lion yesterday to try and use the latest newest features. I do not own any iOS devices (prefer Android over iOS) so several of the updates do not even apply to me (such as iCloud).
Notifications does not work in all my apps (however Growl still works with almost all of them)
Messages is just as bad as Messages Beta for Lion was so I still am using Adium
Airport Mirroring is lagged so I can't use it as a second monitor (still have to run a long HDMI cable accross the livingroom)
Safari updates don't matter as I feel Safari is good for one thing, downloading Chrome.
I do not use ANY of the features of the new Mountain Lion. I would like to downgrade back to Lion and get a refund. Is there a way to do this?

Try doing a clean install from the hidden partition if you have one.
Just an FYI.... After Mountain Lion is installed, the Recovery HD is updated to Recovery HD-10.8. This means if I want to reinstall OS X from the Recovery HD, I will be reinstalling Mountain Lion not Lion. I would need to have the Lion Recovery HD on a USB thumb drive, use Internet Recovery (Lion pre-installed systems) or some other means to be able to reinstall Lion.

How do I downgrade my iCloud storage and get a refund within the 15 days?
I recently up-graded from 10 to 20GB in the middle of my storage plan, but I've changed my mind. How can I get a refund and revert my account back to its previous settings?

If you are speaking of an iTunes purchase, you will need to contact iTunes Customer Service and explain the situation. Their written policy is kinda cold, in that they say they don't issue refunds for erroneous purchases, but I have found them to be a bit more understanding and helpful than that.
Start by calling Apple at 1-800-275-2273 (if in the US) and ask to be connected to iTunes Customer Service.

  • HT4847 I had to upgrade my iCloud storage plan, but I was still charged for the original $20 a year plan. In addition to the new $40 a year plan. How do I remove the $20 plan and get a refund? Can I stop them from charging both plans?

I upgraded my iCloud plan from $20 to $40 a year. However, I am still being charged for both plans. How do I get a refund and or remove the original $20 a year plan?

I have the exact same situation as you mattiger18.  I cannot install Lion or I will disrupt programs that I run on Snow Leopard that are critical for my work.  Apple is not providing a solution for us.  Last time they migrated from Mobile Me to iCloud they lost months of emails and had emails bouncing to my accounts.  They destroyed 8 weeks of my business.  They have done it again.  They have already lost several months of my emails and they are bouncing my business email.  It's outrageous!
I spent thousands of $ on my software and I have no intention of installing Lion or other OS iterations.  It is bad enough that Apple's service patches are crippling some of my applications.  My biggest regret was not altogether getting off of iCloud and setting up all my business email on other email servers like gmail, etc.  It is so outrageous what Apple is doing it is beyond words.  They are supremely greedy and totally uncaring for their customers.

  • How do I return a bad app and get a refund ?

    Hello,
I've recently purchased the application Tagalicious from the Mac App Store. Unfortunately this app does not work as from the moment I open it a window appears telling me "Failed to load your music library". The help menu tells me I have to have iTunes opened in order for the app to work. I have iTunes opened all the time.
Also there is no answer from their support line.
I would really appreciate it if this app is taken from me and a refund is issued back into my account as I believe this app does NOTHING that it said it would do.
Thank you very much in advance.
I am sending you a screenshot with the current app status:

You will recieve an emailed receipt from iTunes a few days after buying the app. Use the Report link in the receipt to start a conversation with iTunes Support regarding the issue.

You would reinstall 10.6 using your installation DVD.
Out of curiosity, how much RAM do you have? Recent versions of OS X really shine with 4GB or more.

  • How do I downgrade back to 10.7? No Time Machine restore option?

I just installed Mac OS 10.8 (Mountain Lion) and it displays poorly on my HDTV. I want to go back to 10.7.
How do I downgrade back to 10.7? I didn't have a Time Machine running back when I had 10.7 (my huge mistakek) so the restore option is not available. I tried using my "Install Mac 10.7 (Lion)" installer and I get an error message saying it can not install from the 10.8 system. What tha?
I tried to go to my 10.6.4 Mac OS X Install DVD and it crashes my Mac mini when I try to boot from it.
    HELP anyone, PLEASE!!!

Boot from your Install Mac 10.7 (Lion) installer
    A. Erase the hard drive:
Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
Quit DU and return to the main menu.
    B. Reinstall Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

I have a laptop (2010) with Lion OS and tried to install Mavericks and part way through the installation it quit and reverted back to Lion and the app store doesn't let me download Mavericks again. How can I resolve this?

    Is your data backed up?
Are you running any non-Apple system optimization tools?

How do I revert back to Lion from Maverick? Maverick does not support our server.

If you do end up needing to go the erase and re-install route because you do not have current backup to restore from, ensure that you make a clone or Time Machine copy of your current setup before doing the erase and re-install of Lion  as the erase process will delete all your data.

  • I've,just,bought,a,new,Mac,with,mavericks,,but,I,don't,like,mavericks,,how,may,I ,downgrade,to,Mountain,Lion,10.8.5?

I've just bought a brand new iMac with OS X Mavericks but I dont like Mavericks and it also has problems with some apps I use, how may I downgrade to Mountain Lion 10.8.5?

    You can't.
You cannot install or run an OS X version lower than what is, originally, installed on your Mac.
Your only option maybe to purchase a download code for OS X Mountain Lion here,
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/D6377Z/A/os-x-mountain-lion
Purchase a high quality USB 3.0 or Thunderbolt hard drive, formatted as an OS X exetnded (journaled) drive with a GUID partition scheme and install OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion to the external drive and boot and run your new iMac from this external drive.
This is the only optioh to run an older OS X version on a new Mac.
I have a 2009 iMac that the lowest OS X version I can run from the iMac's internal hard drive is OS X 10.6.1.
I have an external drive with OS X 10.5.8 and can get my iMac to boot and run this older OS X version from the ex eternal hard drive.
Here is a good source for quality external hard drives.

    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Lacie/9000303/
Your only other option is to return your new iMac within 14 days for a full refund and look for older iMac, either new or used that came with OS X Mountain Lion as its original, preinstalled OS X version.
    Good Luck!

  • Why did Apple ruin iWork? How do I downgrade back to 09'?

Why did Apple ruin iWork? How do I downgrade back to 09'?
The new iWork is a major major major major dissappointment. I'm so let down by Apple. Perhaps it was their goal to bolster 3rd parties like MS Office, cause that's what I was just forced to use again . . . .

Now Apple really gave me another good definition of "There is no such a free lunch."
This new "free" iWork really cost me a terrible headache, huge time lost, and horrible frustration. No time to give Apple feedback because I am busy fixing all my iWork's files.
Upgrade should be adding new better features to what already exist.
