Commercial DVDs are generally encrypted. In the U.S., it's illegal to break that encryption. Because of that, the Terms of Use of this forum prohibits discussion of software or methods.
If the DVD is not encrypted, Handbrake is probably the most commonly recommended software.

Thanks, varjak, it is too easy to fall into use of jargon assuming everyone understands what it means.
One additional point in all of this, not all "iDevice" apps run on every "iDevice". Some are customized for a specific device, or class of devices such as the iPod/iPhone with their smaller screen. Others for just the iPads for their larger screens. So the user needs to be sure they are getting an app that will work on their specific device.
And to Phoneboone, you do need to purchase the app again if it is for a different class of equipment. When you are looking at apps such as iWorks for the Mac and iWorks components for the iPad, the iPad versions are very inexpensive. Pages is only $10 (US) which is really cheap for such a good word processor that reads and saves in the MS Word format.
Anyway, search for what you need and just enjoy the convenience of so many options for apps.

My iTunes account is no longer showing my playlists or any of the music I have added from sources other than iTunes.

My iPod, which is a 4th Gen Classic, seems fine and has all of my playlists and music. My question is how do I upload my iPod to iTunes so that I don't lose anything? I have read a lot of posts about people having similar problems and most of them suggest restoring from an old saved file. I have two problems with this approach 1) I do not have a current back-up and 2) it does not seem to work for any of my non-Apple purcahsed music. Does anyone know of an easy way to fix this?

I'd do a "deauthorize all" from a computer you have access to, and then reauthorise the computers you still have access to.

Kudos! I too am frustrated about this change to my personal page. I also know Apple is not to blame. I also manage a page for the company I work for using pages app. And that app is UN affected and I can choose from any photo stored on my phone (4). I do keep them seperate so I can keep a professional aspect for the company. But if you want your personal page linked to your public or work page, this maybe the work around your looking for.

I downloaded a ringtone from iTunes. It was not a song, it was listed as a ringtone. It is now in my iPod on iTunes, but it is not available to select as a ringtone. Only the default ringtones that came with the phone are available to select. How do I select the ringtone that I purchased, please?

I've tried both methods. I once purchased a ringtone on my laptop, and was not able to get it onto my phone. I saw the folder on my laptop, but it didn't transfer the ringtone to my phone.
I thought I could purchase a ringtone from iTunes directly on my iPhone, but it didn't work. The ringtone I bought IS there in the More folder under the Download folder, but all I can do is play it and hear it. I can't choose it to be the default ringtone for my phone, or assign it to a particular caller. If there's a menu or a trick to selecting it, I can't see it. But thanks for the suggestion! iCloud doesn't backup the actual films, it backs up your purchase history:

You can only re download items if they are still available in the App Store.
Books can be downloaded again (it is audiobooks which are a once-only download).
Your best bet is to transfer all purchases to iTunes on your computer, before deleting items from iPad.

You don't dial *228 on a 4G LTE phone to reprogram it or update the PRLs ... that's handled by the SIM card.
You might try a new SIM card; they're free at your local Corporate Verizon store or by calling Customer Service.
