How do I download a word doc off the internet and still be able to edit it in Pages?

I am really stuck. I have some stuff on Skydrive that downloads as a docx but then I cannot open it in Pages. And if I download it as a pdf in Preview I still can't edit it. Can someone please help?

What version of Pages? What version of OS X?
I ask because I just now located a 'random' .docx document that had arrived as an email attachment, and opened it with no difficulty in Pages '09 v4.3 (1048), running in OS X v10.8.4. I did get some (expected) warnings, all having to do with fonts used in the document that are not available on my machine.

Perchance, do you have an all-in-one printer which can receive a fax message? Printer, scanner, and fax machine combined.<br />
If so, try looking at your user manual for that all-in-one to learn how to print that message. Or consult with a support forum for that brand all-in-one printer.

Have you rung up your ISP to check that they don't have a time limit on connections? I know that AOL in Australia will cut you off after 10 minutes if you exceed a montly quota of a certain amount of hours.

Is there any way to save a PFD or Word document on iPad that can be accessed without the internet?

yes. When you view the doc (I am assuming it is coming to you from attached to an e mail) touch it once to download it, then touch a second time to view it. But if you make the second touch a long touch - hold it, an 'open in' box will appear, and you can select what app you want it opened in, and that will save the file to that app. You can go in later - off line, and it will be there, associated with that app.

I've tried using videolan and some other downloaders but they don't seem to be working.
I may be going about it wrong, does anyone have suggestions?

If the form doesn't have any fillable form fields, then you could use the text tool under "fill and sign" in Adobe Reader XI.
If you have an older version, you cannot do this.

First, you need to have Pages for iOS installed on the iPad, and an iCloud account.

Once you have Pages for iOS installed, you need to ensure you are signed in with your iCloud account on the iPad - settings / iCloud, and that "documents and data" is enabled.
Then ensure you have Pages set to use iCloud - settings / Pages.
Then on your computer you simply go to www.iCloud.com/iWork and click the gear icon to upload your document.
Once it is uploaded to iCloud, then on the iPad, launch Pages.

How can I download Aperture so I have the installer and full software if I need it later? I already have it installed and using.

Hi I am already running OS X 10.10.3 and Aperture. I've had Aperture for quite a while now..
If I upgrade to a new iMac later on down the road and what to reinstall Aperture again, what can I do? From the App Store, my open option is to OPEN the app. I want to download the full Aperture software, burn it to disc so I have it for later use if needed.. Even without aperture your photos are still there in the aperture library, just got to it in finder and show package contents, there are lots of folders with one call masters, then its all folders of year / month / date with all your master in there.

To move the images to iPhoto, open iPhoto and under File click New Album if that is where you want the images to reside, then drag and drop the images to that new album.
You don't say what Mac you are using, so three approaches to right click:
1. Open System Preferences, then Trackpad if you are using a MacBook Pro or Air and do not have a mouse, then under Point and Click check Secondary Click. That is the right click function:

I can't cap the number of active downloads (via persistent-connection-to-server cap) AND still be able to load pages hosted on the same server, *because*...?

I'm aware that, by setting "network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server" (in about:config) to 1, I'm effectively preventing myself from being able to download a single file from a server AND load a page hosted on the same server simultaneously.
My question is, why can't Firefox tell the difference between a file download and loading a website?
The reason I ask is that I feel I should be able to create a download queue and have my browser download one file at a time (to minimize the impact downloads have on available bandwidth and my own downstream, while allowing me to set up a long chain of sequential downloads), YET still be able to browse websites hosted on the same server.
I do not want to use an add-on or a separate download manager to solve this problem. I think that's stupid. Firefox should be able to tell the difference between a request to load an html file and a request to download any other type of file.
After all, I can already configure Firefox's file handling behavior for each type separately (I have, for example, previously set PDF files to prompt me to "Save as...", in order to prevent exploits from triggering when I click on a link, by preventing Firefox from opening them in-browser).
There is no reason I shouldn't be able to do what I have said I would like to. I should not HAVE to limit the number of max server connections in order to ACHIEVE filling a simple download queue with a 1-file-at-a-time limit.
