How do I download an actual MAP?

Hi ... When I go to "Download OVI Maps" and select my phone (7230), it says "You're Good To Go" ... Your mobile has Nokia Maps preinstalled. But while the Map app IS on my phone, there's no actual MAP. It seems like it thinks I want to install the Maps application, rather than simply a map - and then tells me 'go away, the app is already installed'. I don't see any place where I select my actual map (ex, Canada, Newfoundland, etc)
I've installed PC Suite ... does that make a difference?

Not knowing which version of Ovi Maps you have installed on your phone, I suggest you install Ovi Suite on your pc. Once installed, connect your phone to the pc and use the Maps Option in Ovi Suite to download and install map data to your phone.

I have just purchased an N95 and it came with a 4gig card upgrade. I want to use the GPS mapping system but although it works it seems only to have the detailed maps (street names etc) for a small area. If I select a different area of the country eg by postcode large scale map is there but no detail. If I let it it then connects to the internet and downloads that bit of the map. This is not a problem when I am at home as it connects via my local wireless network - on the move it could get very expensive.
I have already been to the Nokia site and downloaded and installed Maps v2 but it is only about 3.5 Mbytes while my TomTom 5 map is nearer 100Mbytes. How do I download the whole of the UK map to my Nokia in one go??????

Nokia's Map Loader sometimes drops your maps into the wrong folder.
On most phones the maps are in:
[memory card]\cities\diskcache\,
but on the N95 they're in:
\Private\20001f63\diskcache\.
Check if your phone has both folders. The \Private\20001f63\diskcache\ folder is hidden, so you'll need a program like ActiveFile or X-Plore to see it.
Try to install a map from http://nokiamaps.moo.no into one folder, and a different map into the other folder, and then check where your copy of Nokia Maps looks for maps.

How do i get to the actual map for Find my IPod

I am hearing lots about how amazing the Find My Ipod app is, but it's useless if I can't get to the map.
So i'm hoping someone can tell me how to view the actual map, not send me to different links that show you how to install or get the app for finding your IPod.

Firstly, FindMyiPod is not amazing. It only works in limited circumstances. In any case, to use it, first you have to turn it on in your iPod. To do this go to Settings > iCloud and switching On FindMyiPod. Then on your computer go to https://icloud.com, enter your userid and password and your iPod should be located on a map.

How can I download Blackberry Maps in my 8800?

It appears that my Blackberry 8800 device did not come with the pre-loaded Blackberry Maps, as I cannot activate the Maps (GPS) or find the Maps in the Service Book list. Is it possible to download the Maps into my phone? If so, how do I do it? I contacted my service provider (Thailand) and its technician advised me to wipe out the device and reinstall the applications from the CD rom included in the product package. I am wondering if there is an easier way to download the Blackberry Maps. Please advise.

You should be able to get the maps application on yoru device by going to the below link from your device

Once you are on the page you should see a Download BlackBerry Maps now option.

Which operating system are you using? For Windows you go to Start>All Programs for Mac OS it is located in your Applications folder.

When you download something from the iCloud, it is a brand new licensed copy. Your iCloud account just contains a notation that you have this app. It isn't storing an actual copy of the app from your Mac.

Unless you've done anything to change it, Google keeps every email that ever passes through their server in your All Mail folder/mailbox/label. Even if you delete stuff, they hold onto it, there. You have to go out of your way to actually delete anything permanently.

This is asking you to store persistent Flash Cookies (meaning, they are not deleted when you delete your ordinary cookies.) Some sites will not work unless you allow them. Here's how to prevent them from getting on your computer in the first place, while keeping Flash and these sites working.
If you use Firefox, get the Add-on Better Privacy, which will delete them when you quit Firefox.
Or, trick these sites into thinking they are actually storing this crap: (These directions are for Flash Player 10 and above.)
Using the following, no LSOs (Flash Cookies) will be stored and yet Flash is tricked into thinking they are. As far as I can tell all sites employing Flash will function properly; nothing will be broken, including Comedy Central with its streaming video content. (In the directions above, I had mistakenly recommended setting the Storage panel in the local Flash Pref Pane to not allow. It must be left as "Allow sites to store...." This was why the Comedy Central clip I had been trying to play wasn't working.)
First, to get a new, clean folder, start by trashing the Macromedia folder in ~/Library/Preferences. That's in your user Library. Next, do not visit the local Flash Pref Pane in Sys Prefs. Instead, go directly to Adobe Global Privacy settings in the Adobe Settings Manager and set Camera and Mic to "Always deny." Visiting the Settings Manager will automatically create a new, clean Macromedia folder.
(If you first visit the local Flash Pref Pane, the new Macromedia folder will lack the empty default #shared objects folder and its also empty enclosed folder (this is the one with a combination of characters and numerals.) I haven't tested to see what will happen if those two folders are not present. I assume, providing the Macromedia folder is unlocked, they would be created as soon as one visits a Flash site, but they will not be empty and this would defeat the entire purpose.)
If you visit the local Flash Pref Pane now, all the defaults will remain, except for the Camera and Mic panel, where "Always deny" will be checked. Next, it seems prudent to go to the Playback panel and check "Block all sites from using peer assisted networking." But, important, in the Storage panel, you must leave the default "Allow sites to save...." checked. This is how sites using Flash are tricked into thinking storage of Flash Cookies is being allowed when they are, in fact, not.
Next, go back to the Macromedia Folder and, using GetInfo/CMD-I, recursively lock all its enclosed folders. This means starting from the back working ones way up to the front. And, finally, lock the enclosing Macromedia folder itself. Nothing gets stored and everything keeps on working.

EDIT: Maybe something I don't know, but I don't think AdBlock in Safari will defeat Flash Cookies. There may be some Safari extension that will.

I accidentally bought the HD version of a movie for my daughter's nano. you can't watch HD on a nano. So I'm trying to figure out how to re-download the SD version. This help screen makes it seem like you can just correct the problem and just "download" the lower version. But when I follow the steps, I basically get to where I'm just having to actually purchase the other version. Do I have to pay to get the lower quality version after I've already paid for the HD version?

When you purchase an HD movie or show, in most cases the SD copy can be downloaded from your purchases area in iTunes. On the main iTunes Store page, go to Purchases under the Quick Links and then select Movies or TV shows as appropraite. Click the "Not On This Computer" button. Uncheck the "Download HD when available" box and you should then see the SD copies of the movies/shows and be able to download them.
Note that with digital copies from a Blu-Ray or DVD, if it comes with an HD copy, you normally cannot get the SD copy as well and have to purchase it separately if you want it.
