How do i download icloud on my macbook pro

How can I add icloud to my macbook pro, the icon is not in my preferences or apps.

You need Lion (10.7.2) or greater to run iCloud, if your Mac is up to it I would suggest that you upgrade to Mountain Lion (10.8.2) from the App store.

Unless you have the 10.7.2 or better operating system you cannot use Icloud, if you already have the operating system you already have icloud.
So far as finding your phone goes, you would need to have activated "find my phone" on your phone already, if you haven't you will be unable to locate your phone. If you have you can go to the icloud.com website and locate your phone, assuming of course it is turned on and connected to the network.

Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard — Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service — this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.

Go to a Office type store or online and buy a copy of Windows  7 Home Basic, Home or Pro  (whatever) and stick the 64bit DVD into the computer.
You'll have to first learn about Bootcamp  if your going to want to dual boot, it's complex and a hassle, but gives full hardware performance.
    https://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
Another way is to first install VMFusion, Parallels or VirtualBox and then install Windows into that, Windows runs like a file in a window on OS X. You can run Windows programs in that, but it's not as powerful as BootCamp method, but more convenient for most normal (non-hardware taxing) programs.

I filmed a short video on my iphone4 and saved it on icloud. However, even though I see it on photo stream on my phone, it does not give the option to download or the email. In addition, I can not see the video in iphoto on my laptop. (MacBook Pro 10.9.5). How do I access this video and share it?

  • Cannot download iCloud mail to Macbook Pro

Having upgraded to Lion and moved from mobile me to iCloud a few weeks ago everything seemed fine but for the past 48 hrs I've not been able to download my mail to my Macbook Pro. Also for a short period I was not able to log on to the icloud site and check it there.  My iPad and iPhone seem to be able to get mail so why can I not get my mail app to connect with the server and pull down my emails !!
This doesn't seem to be a new issue as many other posts repot similar issues. Is it me or have Apple taken their eye off the ball over the past 12 months?
Any thoughts on how to rectify this would be most welcome.

Are you really running 10.4 Tiger? You need at least 10.6 to sync an iPhone with a MacBook Pro.

  • How do I download iLife on my MacBook Pro (for free) after purchasing a new iOS device

    Hello,
I watched the most recent keynote address just like everybody else and was very happy to hear that Apple was going to provide the new iLife and iWork software for free with the purchase of a new Mac device or iOS device. So, I went and purchased a new iPhone 5S. Now how do I get my free copy of this software on my MacBook Pro (Mid-2010) running Mavericks?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Marcus

You must be running Mavericks and have purchased the iLife 11 apps, either they came with the Mac or from a purchased iLIfe 11 disk, in order to upgrade to iPhoto 9.5 for free.
The following came from this MacWorld article: What you need to know about Apple's free apps policy | Macworld
If you own iLife '11 or iWork ’09 apps (or v1 iOS apps) and you got them from the Mac App Store or iOS App Store: You should be able to download the latest versions for free by going to the app page on the Mac or iOS App Store.
If you own iLife '11 or iWork ’09 apps for the Mac but did not purchase them from the Mac App Store: You should be able to download the latest versions for free by going to the Mac App Store and tapping Update, though you may need to first visit the Purchases screen, where you might see a box called “You Have [number] Apps to Accept.” This ties apps you have on your computer to both your Apple ID and a hardware identifier on your computer, and it should allow you to download free updates to these programs from any computer associated with your Apple ID.
Some users (including yours truly) are reporting issues where the Mac App Store doesn’t recognize their copies; when they click on an iLife or iWork app’s price, they receive the following alert: “[App] is already installed and was not purchased from the Mac App Store. Do you want to buy [app]?” Macworld spoke with an Apple spokesperson who noted that there’s currently an issue with some legacy customers, and the company is working on a fix. That fix appears to have been implemented; on Thursday, several users told Macworld that they were getting the Accept Apps prompt.
If you don’t own iLife '11 or iWork ’09 apps (or v1 iOS apps), or own older Mac versions: On the iLife side, you’ll have to buy iMovie and iPhoto at full price ($15 or $5, depending on platform). GarageBand is free for everyone to download, though the app does offer in-app purchases. Apple’s iWork apps are each $20 for the Mac, $10 on the iPhone or iPad.

  • How do i get icloud on my Macbook pro?

My macbook pro is updated and running the newest software. I just noticed that i couldnt find my icloud on my macbook. Maybe i have never had it but i thought i did. I have icloud for my iphone, ipad, and itouch but for some reason it just not on my computer?
Any help i could get i would greatly appreciate

Install 10.7.2 or greater which is required for iCloud.
If you need to purchase Lion call 1-800-692-7753 or 1-800-676-2775. Ask for a Sales Representative. They will check your Apple ID, and email you a code and instructions.  The cost is $29.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download.
Be sure your computer meets the minimum requirements:
    Lion System Requirements
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space
Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
Or you can upgrade to Mountain Lion:
Apple - OS X Mountain Lion - Read the technical specifications.
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
You can purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store.

  • How do I download ichat onto my macbook pro?

I just got a macbook pro and I have imessages, not ichat. How can I replace it or download ichat?

    HI,
    Messages is iChat+
iChat "Stopped" at version 6 in Lion and Messages in Mountain Lion is version 7
It will do everything iChat did/does and it does the iMessages bit as well.
Upgrading form Lion normally has your Jabber and AIM valid IDs and Names in System Preferences > Mail, Contacts and Calendars and enabled for Messages
They should also appear in Message Menu > Preferences > Accounts and have their "Enable this Account " box ticked.
Buddy lists are brought to the Front (and on view) from the Window Menu > Buddies  (By Default a combined list)
In the Preferences > General Section you can unlink them by Unticking "Show all Accounts in One List".
The iMessages account takes an Apple ID and does not have a Buddy List
The Messages Window is a interface and tabbed Chat window.
Click the New Message icon top left
Then the Blue + icon top right that appears
    Select Contacts
Select "Contact" that has either Apple ID or iPhone Number  (they need to have registered with iMessages as well).
