How do I download iphoto 9

I have a MacBook Pro with iOS 10.6.8 and iPhoto version 8.1.2. I would like to upgrade my iPhoto '09 (8.1.2) to a newer version that supports PhotoStream.
I read somewhere that I have to upgrade to Version 9.0 of iPhoto.
Where can I purchase and/or download iPhoto version 9?
Also, what is the latest/newest version of iPhoto I can run on iOS 10.6.8? I know there are later version but I think I have a limitation with my iOS version.

PhotoStream requires iCloud > Apple - iCloud - Learn how to set up iCloud on all your devices.
For the latest version of iPhoto, you would have to upgrade your Mac to v10.9 Mavericks.
Make sure your Mac meets the requirements > OS X Mavericks: System Requirements
Mavericks can be downloaded from the App Store for free.
Then you can purchase the latest version of iPhoto from the App Store (minimum requirement is v10.9 or later).
You can find older iPhoto versions compatible with Snow Leopard v10.6 at Amazon. Older versions are not available from the App Store.

I've reinstalled lion os 10.7.5 and got the app store app back.
Even though iPhoto etc are purchased by me in app store, theres no way they'll download.

To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store you can find it in your Purchases List.

Is this an iLife installation disk or system install disk? In either case download the demo version of Pacifist and open the install package on the disk. Locate iPhoto and use Pacifist to install iPhoto. Then you'll need to apply the latest updater from the Apple Downloads webpage:
Apple - Support - Downloads. Just search for the iPhoto version you installed to get the updaters for that version.

iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

iPhoto doesn't come as a free app. It is part of the iLife suite. However, it may be on the original install discs of the Powerbook. If I remember correctly it was included on the Panther (10.3) and Tiger (10.4) discs. That is the original gray system restore discs that came with the machine, of course. If you don't have them you are out of luck. If you do have them you can use a free application called Pacifist to open the install disc and install just iPhoto.

I recently re-installed my OS X 10.8.5 and I find iPhoto missing. I do not have iLife backed up in a CD or USB as I downloaded OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion) using iTunes and installed it. I cannot find iPhoto in either the App Store or the iLife apps shown in App Store. Is there any way to download and install iPhoto on Mountain Lion now (since the release is quite old now)?

I recently purchased a Macbook Pro early 2008 model running OS 10.7.3. I wanted to use iCloud and needed to upgrade iPhoto from 9.1 to 9.2. The computer and the app store would not let this happen, saying that I had 9.2 already (I didn't). I was told on this forum that the only solution was to uninstall iPhoto and then install 9.2.1 purchased from the app store. I uninstalled iPhoto and tried to purchase 9.2.1, but it would not install saying "these apps cannot be accepted on this computer." What now?

iPhoto for iOS is simply incompatible with the newest version of the operating system iOS 8. It has been replaced by the new version of "Photos.app". If you have previously used iPhoto you can migrate your library to Photos. This is all Apple told us so far:

Have you tried a soft-reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider if it appears), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
