You did not provide any information about your computer or Operating System...
For Windows 7:
Windows 7 comes with Windows Media Center. You can use Media Center to "Rip a CD" and place the contents of the CD onto your computer.
To see your computer's help files on how to do this:
Click Start > search / type "help and support" > Click on program "Help and Support" to open Help
in the search bar, type: Rip CD
Alternative:
You can download and install Apple iTunes
Once you have it installed, you can Import your CD contents into your computer.
It is pretty easy to do; the help files are onboard the iTunes program..
Essentially, after iTunes is installed:
you load the CD into the player, open iTunes and it asks you if you want to import the CD.
Once the CD is imported, the music is available all the time. You just open iTunes and you can listen to the music by selecting it.

Use the backup of the media and other important files from the old computer to put them on the new computer.
iTunes only syncs with one computer/library at a time.
If you have failed to maintain a backup or no longer have the old computer, you may be out of luck.
iTunes purchases can be transfered from the iDevice. Connect the device, do NOT sync. Select File > Transfer Purchases.
This will only transfer iTunes purchases. All other media will not transfer and will be wiped from the device when it is synced with a new computer/library.

Thanks for the excellent advice, all! I started with BitPim, and have hit a bit of a deadend with the application not being able to detect the phone - I can manually set the port location to the phone (and it shows up as an LG device), but then get a "false" and no connection. So I suspect that's something on the phone end blocking access from a computer via USB... I'll dig around on that a bit.
Thanks, also, for the suggestion to buy a BlueTooth adapter - that's my next step in this... although after reading the link/review about Verizon's attitude toward open file transfer, I may be severing my ties with them. I've been happy with the phone service, but this is really annoying.
This is what happens when you assume that Mac people exist in the rest of the corporate sphere..! To think that I would assume that a phone/camera with a USB cable would actually be capable of connecting to a computer and transferring files!

You can also use an app like My Contacts Backup to back up the contacts on your phone as attachment to an email that you send to yourself. If you need to, you can later open this email on your new phone and tap the attachment to import your contacts.

Ive got my music tracks i want from my pc onto my mobile (6230) using the nokia audio manager but now i cant get them off of the memory onto my music player so that i can play them whilst putting the phone back to the wallpaper page.Ive managed to put 1 onto the music file but then it says theres not enough room to put any more. Hello can some one assit me please. I have purchased a new lap top and copied my old itunes files accross so i do not loose all my music, and have to start again. I can play and see allof my tunes and play these. However I am unable to access the Itunes store through my itunes files. It will not interface at all. I can access itunes store through the Web, but not through the my ituntes file. I have gone in and authorised the laptop through the various process. Highly frustrated already paided a computer person to fix this. However hed deleated all files and started again he had it work and then I turned computer on again and it will not interface from the itune file to itunes, So if I copy a CD it will not tell you the name of the track. I cannot asscess the itunes store to action anything. Please assit me

I am not an expert, but assuming that you have a Windows or Mac folder with music in it and want to move that to a new laptop, I think you have to import it into iTunes. iTunes needs to associate each file with a link, so copying it over will not associate a link.
Delete the files and try importing.

Does anyone know how to get music from real one player into the ipod? I am an idiot when it comes to techy stuff, so now i've got a new nano, but I don't know how to extract music from realone player. I tried add file to library option, but that didn't work...

Your iPod cannot play a Real-format file, nor can iTunes, so you'll have to convert it. There are no tools for Mac I know of that can directly convert a Real track, so you'll need to capture the output of Real Player using a utility such as Audio Hijack or Wiretap. Either of those utilities can save the captured audio in a format that iTunes can import and transfer to your iPod.

Welcome to the forums!
iTunes is the only way I know of to get songs into your new iPod. SO the trick is to get your old libraru into iTunes.
So you have to know what format they are in now. Maybe WMA or mp3. iTunes works well with mp3 and I think it can convert non-protected WMA as well so you have to find a way to get the files into a format that will work.
Once you have a method you can just drag the files into iTunes and it will do the rest.
