How do I download newer version of Safari than 5.1.10 (6534.59.10)
When I try to enter certain sites, I get a message that says I need to update my Safari browser. I have a MacBook Pro (Mac OS X version 10.6.8) that has Safari version 5.1.10. I check for updates regularly but have not had a Safari update. I can't figure out how to update it. I've gone to the Apple support for the download but all it has is the same version I have. But when I google Safari download for Macbook Pro, I see listings for higher versions. But I can't get them to work either. So, is there a newer version? If not, why am I getting these messages, especially anything to do with art, saying my browser needs to be updated? If there is a newer version, then how do I get it?

You need to upgrade the computer’s OS to get a newer Safari. Back up your data, check your applications for compatibility, and download Mavericks from the Mac App Store.

Now on Mountain Lion; how do I download new versions of Numbers, Pages, and Keynote?
Just installed Mountain Lion.
In checking out the iCloud features, it works fine for Preview and TextEdit.
But Numbers and Pages do not seem to be integrated with iCloud. Then I noticed that my version of these is out of date. There are new updates which I need to download to take advantage of the new iCloud integration. But I cannot seem to download them. When I run Software Update, nothing needs updating.
So how do I download these updates?iWork '09 installed from the retail disk or from the downloaded trial must be updated through Software Update. In Mountain Lion Software Update has been "rolled into" the Mac App Store. Choose Software Update from the Apple menu just like you always have & the Mac App Store will launch. Depending on what you have that needs updating you may see two sections in the MAS window.
But, as always, if you're not running the latest versions of the iWork apps installed from a retail box or the downloaded trial & Software Update says your software is up to date, make sure the applications are where the installer initially put them. The updaters are very picky. If the location is not where the updater is programmed to look or if the folder doesn't have the name the updater looks for, it will not work. The applications cannot be renamed or moved. If you installed from the downloaded trial or the retail box, they must be in the iWork '09 folder in Applications. That iWork folder must be named iWork '09. If it doesn't have the '09 Software Update won't find them & the updaters won't work.

How do I download new version of itunes?
Hi, probably a really stupid question but I too have had all the problems with itunes not showing tracks etc in lower hal; of screen and now gather that I need to download new itunes 6.0 - only problem is that I have no idea how to! Do I save or run the file? If I save, where to?

IMPORTANT: You should always back up your music!
There have been quite a few instances of the library not getting recognized, but the music wasn't deleted....they just had to tell iTunes where the songs were.
Three cases so far of people losing purchased music and not having backups. -

How can I download a version of safari for 10.6.8?
I trashed Safari because it was not running correctly and now I can't find a version that will work with my OS 10.6.8 on an old iMac. Can anyone help? I tried restarting and holding down command R at the grey screen but never got the option to reinstall the OS
There is no such option for Snow Leopard.
Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed with reinstalling OS X. Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files. After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.

How do I download new versions of tracks that are already in my Library?
I downloaded about a hundred songs from iTunes between last night and this morning. A number of the tracks do not play to the end of the file, cutting off in the middle instead of playing to the end. I tried making an .mp3 copy of several of them, and they all generate a file error in iTunes. Obviously the tracks that I downloaded are corrupted in some way, so they need to be re-downloaded. The problem is that iTunes says they are already downloaded, so it won't let me re-download a new (hopefully clear) copy. Is there any way I can do this without having to pay for the tracks all over again?
What country are you in ? What you can re-download, and where, is listed on this page.
If you are in one of those countries where you can re-download music then delete the entry for them in iTunes (you don't have to delete the actual files, just the 'entries' for them in iTunes) and see if you can then re-download them - I think that if there is an entry for them in iTunes then it doesn't think that they need re-downloading as they are already there. I downloaded and installed the new version of Safari. I HATE IT! How do I uninstall it?
I am finding it impossible to scroll on any website with the new version of Safari I downloaded and installed. I have to switch back and forth between tabs to make the scroll bar appear on the right side. Then, I have to rush to click on it or it disappears and I have to start all over again. Most of the time I get the horizontal arrow which doesn't help.
As an example, I want to go to the bottom of this page, but cannot find a scroll bar to scroll to the bottom of the window. I want to uninstall it and go back to useAwesome, it surely pays off to have a son who knows his way around a Mac. I simply assumed that you are using OSX Mavericks, but I am pretty sure that one always had some control over the scrolling preferences. If you get tired of two-finger scrolling, see screenshot below using OSX 10.9.2.

How to install new version of safari and delete old one
I am not sure what pieces of info are needed to help me so please be patient. Basically my hotmail is no longer working, telling me I need to download a new version of safari so I downloaded safari 3.12 however it is still not working on hotmail. I am not sure how to apply/install the new version of safari and get rid of the old version. As far as I know, you cannot download Safari and reinstall it successfully. Install Safari from your software install DVD and then run software update.
I do not use Hotmail, so I have no information about that platform.

Not if you first do a sync and have iTunes make a backup. However, if your only copy of the iTunes data is in the Touch, then you need to first copy the data to a new iTunes Library using third-party software such as Phone To Mac.

Why does Firefox insist that I'm still using version 3.whatever when I have faithfully downloaded new versions when it tells me to do so -- most recently version 8.whatever (today). If "downloading" isn't enough and there's also an "install" step, I have yet to find anywhere in the Firefox that tells me how to do so. I have restarted my computer, but that doesn't seem to make any difference. It still tells me I'm using an outdated version that soon will not be supported.

This is the same as has occurred when prior versions were nearing their end-of-life. Support for Firefox 3.6 versions is likely to end in the first quarter of 2012.

If you are talking about Safari on the iPad, there is no version of Adobe Flash for iOS and there never has been. Clear Safari, close the app and reset the iPad.
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History and Website Data
In order to close apps, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If you are talking about Safari on your Mac, you are in the wrong forum. But I would still clear the cache, quit Safari and restart the Mac.
