How do I download pictures from a Canon 5D Mark III to my Mac mini (mid 2010)
Got a Canon 5D Mark III and I was wondering how I'm going to download the pictures to my Mac mini (mid 2010). Would I need any special software and a card reader? Saw a 3.0 USB card reader for sale but didn't think that would work on my Mac mini. Please confirm.
If the USB 3 card reader states that it is backwards compatible with USB 2, it should work. Otherwise, purchase a USB 2 card reader.

If you have a mac, transfer the photos from your camera to iphoto. Then, open itunes and connect your ipad. Under your ipad, go to the photos tab, and select albums/photos from there, and click sync. Hopefully this Helps!!

I've tried changing USB ports, switching the camera on and off, trying a different USB cord, tried a different camera, but nothing. Please help! Can you see the Canon EOS camera and image files using Windows Explorer? If not disconnect the camera, close all applications' shutdown Windows, and TURN OFF the power to your system and ALL connected devices. Disconnect all phones, iPads, and any other USB devices and restart your system.
Retry Windows Explorer and see if your camera is showing. If so try LR import again. -
This cause me a problem when using the app Photosmith which cannot found the pictures...
The pictures are in RAW.
Any idea ? could I be doing something wrong ?

Either the missing images have not been uploaded or they have been uploaded to the wrong directory on your server.
PS: %20 in a file name is a space (as in pressing the spacebar on your keyboard). Best to avoid spaces in filenames on the web due to the different ways in which different servers handle them. Worst case, your webpage fails in whole or part. Use hyphens (-) or underscores (_) in place of spaces. -

Not sure what you mean by view the photos? Are they showing in the camera raw dialog when you choose a CR2 file from the menu in expert mode:
File >> Open
What computer and operating system are you using?
Can you try shooting a couple of new CR2 files and then put them into a folder on your hard drive rather than the external drive. Can you import from that location using the Organizer menu:
File >> Get photos & Videos >> From Files & Folders -

From the iPhoto menu bar click File / Import to Library.
Navigate to the disc icon, click Import.
For printing, select a photo then go to File / Print.
You can click Order Prints if you want Apple do the job for you.
They do an excellent job. -
I have Lightroom 4 installed. I cannot download my CR2 files from the Canon 5D Mark III camera. I have downloaded Lightroom 5 thinking it was an update but it appears I have to pay for the program. Any ideas how I can get lightroom 4 to accept my CR2 files ?

The iPhone should appear to the computer as any other digital camera would. Photos are not extracted using iTunes. You need to use your photo management program.
