    Hello lynette_007
Check out the article below to walk you through importing photos from the Camera Roll on your iPad to your computer. If the photos are in albums that are outside of the Camera Roll, you will need to save them to the Camera Roll.

  • How do I download pictures from my IPad to a thumb drive?

When I try to connect the msg -the connected USB device uses too much power- appears.

You can't, the camera connection kit only supports the copying of photos and videos to the iPad's Photos app, not copying anything off the iPad (and a lot of flash drives require too much power for the kit). If the photos weren't originally synced from a computer then you should be able to copy them to a computer : copying photos.

The iPhone should appear to the computer as any other digital camera would. Photos are not extracted using iTunes. You need to use your photo management program.
Refer to your Windows user manual or help files.

Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

how do I download pictures from the computer to the ipad?
I want to temporarily put pictures that I took from another camera that's on my desktop into my IPAD so I can carry it to another location and show off my pictures to friends and family?

Connect and select your iPad on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes, and on the right-hand side there should be a series of tabs, one of which should be Photos - if you select that tab you can then select which photo folders to sync to the iPad. There is a bit more info on this page. You will need to sync all the photos that you want on the iPad together in one go as only the most recent photo sync remains on the iPad - synced photos can't be deleted directly on the iPad, instead they are deleted by not including them in the next photo sync.
If you want more control over your photos (e.g. being able to sort them directly on the iPad and delete synced photos) then there are third-party photo apps such as Photo Manager Pro.

  • How do I download pictures from my camera XD card to my Ipad?

How do I download pictures from my camera using a XD card to my Ipad?

You you mean "xD" like from an Olympus camera?  If so, then you have three choices:
Sync camera to your computer by either USB or xD card reader.  Then sync pictures to iPad by USB cable.
Attach camera by USB cable to iPad Camera Connection Kit.
USB xD card reader inserted to iPad Camera Connection Kit.  Many readers will give an error that it draws too much power so this may or may not work.  (With a powered USB hub, then it may work, if you can deal with the inconvenience.)
1 & 2 are arguably the simplest ways.  If you can find a card reader that does work with the CCK then 3 may be useful.  But all the xD card readers I can find are "multicard" readers and all the multicard readers I've tried will give the "too much power" error.  The only card reader I've gotten to work is a very old "single slot" CF reader.  It was USB1 and I suspect that was why it used less power and so no error message.  So 3 will probably be a lot of trial and error.

Is it possible to download pictures from the iPad to a pc?

Yes as long as they are the pictures that you took with the camera. Any pictures that are in the camera roll can be imported to the computer.
You need some sort of camera application like iPhoto on a Mac or Windows Explorer or Windows Live Photo Gallery on a PC.
This article explains how to import the photos.

how do I download pictures from our PC running Windows XP?  our PC is not a MAC.

Its done via iTunes with your iPad connected to it. Select the iPad on its left-hand side, and then select the Photos tab on the right and decide what you want to sync. There are instructions/help on this page http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4236
You need to sync all the photos that you want on the iPad together in one go, as not including photos in a subsequent sync is how you delete them from the iPad. So if you want to sync multiple folders to the iPad they will need to be off the same parent folder - each folder will then get its own album on the iPad
