How do I dump Itunes 701 and go back to using a earlier version?

The new Itunes just plain blows!!!!
How do I get rid of this piece of #@#$ and go back to the version i had before i downloaded this poorly written, crappy version they cal "new and inproved"?
Who did the get to test this junk software? IT IS HORRIBLE!! and judging from the discussions i'm not the only one having issues.
C'mon Apple...get it together...your acting like microsoft now!!!!!!!

well here is what i did. i downloaded 6 from some link i found in the forum. then i went to the itunes folder in my documents > my music. there was a folder labeled previous itunes libararys or something like that. i moved the most recent one to my desk top, then unilstalled 7. i also delted the itues folder from my music folder. i didnt have anything in there i needed like songs or anything, because thoes are kept on a seperate drive. if you have podcasts or songs, you will want to move them before you delete the itunes folder.
i then installed 6, which created a new itues folder. i opened 6, which created a new libaray folder with no songs in it. i then closed 6, went to the itunes folder in my music, and renamed the old libary file on my desck top i saved before doing the uninstal/reinstall to match the libary file that was created when i opened 6. i then moved it from my desktop into the itunes folder, replacing the file that was in there. then i opened 6 and there were all my songs in the libary prior to upgrading to 7. so i just had to add what i aquired after upgrading to 7 back into 6 and then resync my ipod.
its sooooooooo much better and faster being in 6 than 7. but here is the thing, if you dont save the old libary folder, and just try uninstalling 7 and installing 6, when you try to open 6 it will tell you the libary file was created with a later version of itunes and it wont open it. so be sure to move the file from your old libary folder!

  • The upgrade to Firefox 4 is causing massive problems with my computer. How do I uninstall it and go back to using the previous version?

Firefox 4 is absolutely awful - it is causing massive problems with my computer. How do I uninstall Firefox 4 and go back to the previous version of Firefox?

According to the instructions given on the Norton Community forum under "Other Norton Products/Comcast-Customers - Norton Toolbar Problem in Firefox 10", I have done everything necessary. And I do have a Norton toolbar (Safe Web and Identity Safe) when I open Firefox 10. As was mentioned in the previous posts here, you need to run manual LiveUpdate then reboot until you have version 5.2.0.13. Then reboot and run manual LiveUpdate again and reboot once more. One thing that I noticed is that Norton never told me that it had updated the patch for Firefox 10, so I didn't know. I guess if you have the toolbar when you run Firefox 10, then you have done it all.

  • How do I remove iTunes 11 and go back to iTunes 10?

I truly dislike iTunes 11, for reasons I won't bore you with. How do I remove it and go back to iTunes 10?
    Thank you!

    =Downgrading from iTunes 11 to iTunes 10.7=
Try activating the sidebar, menu bar, and status bar and see if this is close enough to the previous version to make you content.  It is easier than downgrading and eventually you will be forced to run a newer iTunes unless you have an endless supply of the model computer you currently own.
You may be able to go back with Time Machine but this may involve restoring other items too (https://discussions.apple.com/message/20441404).  Alternatively:
Back up your computer first, in case the unexpected happens.
    Quit iTunes.
Get iTunes 10.7 from http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1576 or the direct download link at:  http://appldnld.apple.com/iTunes10/041-7195.20120912.d3uzQ/iTunes10.7.dmg
Do a few preparatory steps by making sure all iTunes components are not running and cleaning old files.   See https://discussions.apple.com/message/20475394.  Do steps 3 and 4.  Steps 6-8 may be also useful but I don't know if they are essential.  Some of the other steps are not necessary, duplicate steps listed later in my post or are perhaps even unhelpful in the process.
Replace the iTunes 11 application with iTunes 10.7.  Simply dragging the application to the trash may not work. Lion (OSX 10.7) and newer systems have iTunes integrated into the operating system and deleting is a bit more involved.  Two ways to do this are:
    1.  (Easier) Use the shareware Pacifist utility (http://www.charlessoft.com/) to install iTunes 10.7 including all associated system files. Details at http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=16400819&postcount=6
    2. (More work) Check this reference on how to delete the iTunes application itself:
Delete iTunes in Mac OS X 10.7 Lion - http://osxdaily.com/2011/09/13/delete-itunes-in-mac-os-x-10-7-lion/
After deleting the application there may be other files that need downgrading too. See the note about error -42408 at the end of this post. You may want to tuck these away somewhere safe until you have completed the installation of iTunes 10.7.  I have not tested this but ideally if newer versions are not found then the installer will put in the old versions. This may include these files in /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/ which apparently get updated by iTunes 11:
    AirTrafficHost.framework
    CoreFP.framework
    DeviceLink.framework
    iTunesAccess.framework
    MobileDevice.framework
After doing one of the two procedures above you will have to rescue the most recent old iTunes library from your iTunes > Previous Libraries folder. Rename it "iTunes Library.itl"  and replace the existing one in the iTunes folder. A newer version of iTunes irreversibly updates your library file so you have to replace it with the old one or you will get an error message. Note, this will revert your library to the version at the time of the upgrade and you will have to update any changes made since.  See:

Alternatively, check https://discussions.apple.com/message/20441424 which requires you have a Time Machine backup (though possibly if you remove the newer version of these files old ones may be installed with the iTunes 10.7 installer - untested).  A  variant of this is at: https://discussions.apple.com/message/20448184

  • I have a used mac computer. I want to sync and update my iphone. Currently itunes tells me that my iphone is connected to a different itunes account. How do I make itunes sync and update my phone without deleting all the current information on my phone?

I have a used mac computer. I want to sync and update my iphone. Currently itunes tells me that my iphone is connected to a different itunes account and will sync, but delete everything from my phone. How do I make itunes sync and update my phone without deleting all the current information on my phone?

Iphone will sync with one and only one cpomptuer at a time.  Syncing to another will erase the current content and replace with content from the new computer.  This is the design of the  iphone.
It will erase the content when you sync.
Why not update from the comptuer with which you normally sync?

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping.  Note that in iTunes 11 an "empty" library may show your past purchases with links to stream or download them.
In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
Alternatively, depending on exactly when and why the library went missing, there may be a more recent .tmp file in the main iTunes folder that can be renamed as iTunes Library.itl to restore the library to a recent state.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

  • How do I delete iTunes 12 and reinstall 11? 12 installed itself and updated a Library.

How do I delete iTunes 12?
I want to use iTunes 11 to access an older Library on its own Hard Disk Drive.
iTunes 12 installed itself, and the moment I opened it with one of my music Libraries, it updated the Library on that disks (and took forever—I have 27,000 tracks). (I thought I had automatic updates turned off. They are now! It has been listed at the App Store before this, but for some reason, this time it just installed at a Restart though I believe I never clicked on its Update button.)
I tried deleting 12, but it complains it is part of Mac OS! (I didn't really know this.)
I tried changing 12's permissions via Get Info, so I could Read & Write to the application. Nada. I also tried adding myself, and doing the same. Nothing.
And I tried to install  iTunes 11.4 for OS X 10.6 after downloading it, but the install complained I had a newer version, and then quit.
It seems I am stuck with iTunes 12, and have no other options.

If you have a Time Machine backup or a clone from before the time you updated, you may be able to restore from there. The iTunes 11.4 download works only for Snow Leopard.
---| I want to use iTunes 11 to access an older Library on its own Hard Disk Drive.
If that library is an .xml file you can move it to your desktop and in iTunes you can choose Import Playlist and select the Library.xml file. That will give you all the playlists on the old library.

can anyone tell me how to restore my itunes library and playlists? After I downloaded mountain lion my library is missing and my devices can be synced to only one library ...the missing one

That .itl file actually is the library -- at least the critical part of it although the library is actually many files and folders.
Try starting iTunes and immediately hold down the option key.  When it asks, guide it to the .itl file.
It's really hard to say without being able to poke around your computer.  Upgrading should not delete the old library, but still it happens to the very, very few which is why we make backups before updating.  If the old library file is gone then so are your playlists.  You can always see if the following is of any use:

I will soon be purchasing a new PC running Windows 7. I need to know how to migrate my iTunes Library and apple devices to the PC. Is there a previously published support document on this topic? Thank You.

Connect a blank powered external drive to the PC.
Right click on the Disk in the File manager and choose format: exFAT
(if it's a XP machine, first install exFAT from Microsoft and reboot)
navigate to your user account folders on the PC and drag and drop copy (or copy and paste) to the external drive.
(if a program has your files, then export them out first)
Hook up the drive to the Mac, and transfer files to the desktop or to their same appropritate folders.
Import photo's into iPhoto program, import music into iTunes etc and they will manage those files.
You can continue to use the external exFAT drive between Mac's and PC's
Do not format the drive NTFS or FAT, NTFS can't be written too by the Mac and FAT can't hold over 4GB sized files.
If you format exFAT on the Mac, it likely won't work correctly on the  PC.
"Migration" type programs are a utter waste of time and effort between PC's and Mac's for the fact that only certain files (and no programs or anything else) will work between them, also it's a hassle and takes too long. So don't even bother with it.
