I have a large pdf file. I need to break it down into "x" numbers of pages.
Must I convert to Word?
I do not wish to edit the content, simply need certain pages in the pdf saved alone and not in master pdf.

I suspect that your Excel file is too complex--at 173 pages--for ExportPDF to convert before timing out. You can try converting via Reader with OCR disabled as described in this document: How to disable Optical Character Recognition (O... | Adobe Community. Disabling OCR can simplify the conversion process. (However, this option isn't optimal if your PDF was created from a scanned document.)
Other things to try are clearing the browser cache or trying a different browser.
I think, though, with a file that large, you would probably have the most luck saving directly to Excel from Acrobat. If you don't have Acrobat, you may try it for free for 30 days. See www.adobe.com/products/acrobat.html for more information.

I'm unable to print or save pdf documents without losing text. Margins are not maintained page to page and text size might not be maintained either.

Printing within Firefox is untenable. I lose text at page break or a right margin. This happens when printing or saving as "pdf" file. Everything works fine in Safari.

You are getting such output because you have checked ON the setting 'Print to file' in one of your previous prints. For resolving this issue, kindly uncheck option 'Print to file' present in bottom left corner of print dialog and then click on 'Print' (See attached image for reference).

ill try to explain this as clearly as i can.
i have got a 2 page pdf document, that has data on both sides.
i need it to be 4 A5 pages at the front and back, so it folds neatly together.
so currently it prints like an duplex A4 page, and i just wondering how i can change it to be more like the flyer i have in mind.

You may have to crop pages to get the effect that you want. If you have the original, it would probably be easier to edit that and create a new PDF.

Editing a multi-page .pdf document

Running PSE9 under Mac OS X Mavericks.
I have a 49-page document as a single .pdf file. I'm looking for the easiest way to:
- Select all the pages so that I can edit any one or more pages in the file.
- After editing, I want to save the entire file to a new file similar to the original, keeping the original as a "version".
I've tried working with this, and I get hampered with the individual pages acting like separate files.

I am also looking for feedback. Although having a PDF copy of a document is wonderful, long term and efficient archival for my workplace is tif or tiff.
Very frustrating that the PDF to tiff creates a separate tiff file for each page of the multi-page PDF document. Are there any options or work-arounds?

Are you sure? I believe the mail program only previews the first page for you, but sends the whole attachment. Try opening the attachment (e.g., select and hit spacebar for a preview of the whole thing, or by double-clicking it, or control-clicking then "Open...") You should see the whole document.

I have a OSX IMAC Version 10.8.5. I got pages at the same time I purchased this computer. I use a document to write all my passwords. Seems like when I E-mail myself the document from pages, I have not been able to type in the document, it acts like it is locked. How to move pages between documents WITHOUT elements shifting

Hi everyone! My team members and I are so frustrated over what I think should be a really simple issue: copying/moving/dragging pages between documents and NOTHING CHANGING.
Whenever we move pages between documents (which we have to do on a monthly basis - moving content into client branded files), at least ONE thing will shift and it usually has to do with overset text and/or text wrap. We have googled our brains out. We've tried everything on this list How-To: 10 Techniques for Copying Pages Between InDesign Documents | CreativePro.com and in the various Lynda tutorials we've looked at. We have combined our powers and still can not solve this problem so now I come to you, hoping that you can please please please help us figure out this issue before one of us throws a computer out the window.
We have this one document. And this is what one of the problem pages looks like. Everything is on one layer. (look at the section marked 5)
Then I move the pages (copy/paste the content; drag and drop the pages; etc.) into the destination document so we can apply branding.
AND THIS HAPPENS.
WHY does this text suddenly become overset?
The preferences of both documents are IDENTICAL. In fact, Document B was originally created from Document A.
AND FUN FYI: I took Document A and Saved As a new name. Opened it the new name. And tried moving the pages into the newly named document -- and the SAME EXACT THING HAPPENED.
I am going to bash my head into a wall. Can someone please shed some light on this? Have you seen this before? How do we fix it??

That's not something that I have ever heard, but since I haven't heard everything, I suppose it's possible. What you may be thinking of is that some people use idml to migrate a file to a lower version, and if that lower version lacks a feature of the version that created the file, you will either lose or modify the way that that feature worked in the original. I don't think that even in that scenario that a feature that was present in both versions would go away just because it took a trip through idml to get to an earlier version. And if idml botched shadow or effects, nobody would use it, and I don't think Adobe would have it.

The thing that Save-As does is remove little bits of data associated with undos that a normal Save retains. Sometimes this data can lead to problems, so any time you do it, it will help, but if you do it at stage 37 and you hand off at stage 38, you will have cleared out most all of anything that may have built up over time. I don't want to give the impression that it is required, but it certainly doesn't hurt, and is probably a good idea to Save-As periodically.

Why can't I print a 3 page pdf document?

I have an HP Laserjet P1102W. I am trying to print a 3 page pdf document. The print preview looks correct but when I go to print it prints a blank first page. The second page prints correctly but the 3rd page won't print at all and I get a error light on the printer. I think it might have something to do with the spooler settings but I don't knowthat much about it. Does anyone have any ideas?

It sounds like there may be some confusion on your system about what application should be associated with PDF files. You can reset filename associations by following the steps in these articles (depending on your operating system):

Figured it out. It had nothing to do with the software levels of Safari or Adobe Acrobat. Here's the fix:
Open Finder/Applications
Search "Internet Plug-Ins"
Move any Adobe plug-ins to the trash
Quit Safari
Launch Safari
Your pdf document should now render in Print Preview and print properly.

I'll guess that you've used a page layout document & pasting created a text box. You can add more pages & create linked text boxes, but I think you'd be better of using a word processing document. In word processing documents there is a basic text layer & additional pages will be created as needed to fit the text. Take a look at the toolbar of your document. If it says "sections" for the +page icon it's a word processing document, if it says "pages" it's a page layout document.
