How do i edit a flashdrive usb power point presentation with a pptx file

My son has brought home a flashdrive USB from school (where they use Macs) with a power point presentation that needs to be edited but I can only open it up as a read only file. It has the suffix of .pptx. Does anyone have any suggestions to gain access to edit it? Thank you

My wife and I have lots of Power Point slide shows with audio from the days when we were windows users. We have downloaded a trial version of iWork 09 and would like to know how we can play these .pps files that contain audio in Keynote.

That's interesting about NeoOffice. I keep a copy of it up to date but don't use it too often.
This may be too involved for the OP but I would play the file in NeoOffice and record the audio with WIreTap or similar, export it as an MP3 file and then import it into Keynote.
WIreTap can have its input source set to Mac Audio so that it will record from any application that is capable of producing sound.

Adobe Reader X embedded files in Power Point Presentation

receive power point presentations with embedded pdf files. After installing Reader X these files no longer open. I
see that other people have this problem but i have yet to see anyone say they have solved the problem. I have switched off the protected mode.

On any machine, please try:
Click the "Options" tab on the PowerPoint toolbar,
then select "Play Full Screen" from the "Movie Options" group.
The "Options" tab is located directly underneath the "Movie Tools" button.

I can see no way to edit a Power Point Presentation received as an email. As explained above, I opened it in Google document, also tried both Windows document & Open Office document without being able to find a way to edit Power Point. There is no application called "Adobe" - you are either working with Adobe Acrobat or the free Adobe Reader. Open up the preferences for the application (Edit>Preferences), then go to the "General" category and modify the settings for "Scale for screen resolution". You will have to restart the application after you do that. Does that fix your problems?

One way friends of mine have done it....use iTunes to burn a music CD with the songs (presuming it can still do that, haven't tried it in a while)
THen close iTunes and open windows media player. Use that to convet the CD file to MP3 (media player's default is to pull things in as wma, so you may need to change the preferences to mp3, or i'm pretty sure wma's work in power points)
Once media player converts the format you can insert it into your powerpoint.

I am not aware of a control you can put in PowerPoint, however, you can insert a web browser control and reference a page in SPO (or maybe even directly the path to the workbook, didn't try that).

You would have to purchase, install, and update them first.
They would be installed into /Applications, probably into an MS Office folder. The installer may have placed aliased copies of the icons in your Dock, or if not, use the Finder > Go menu > Applications, and have a look around. When you find the applications, you can drag/drop the principal three onto your Dock — where a single click can launch them.

It appears that a PP presentation has completely disappeared, giving only the error that the file has been deleted or moved (which it hadn't). Is there a way to retrieve it.
It is visible in 'All my Files' but when clicked says that PP cannot be opened

Have you run all the office updates? We have to assume this is a proper copy of Office 11 of course and not one 'from Hxxx-Kxxx'. I would also consider re-installing Yosemite-something is screwy on your installation of something if its picking up China..unless of course it is true that the Chinese have been hacking into iTunes and are secretly trying to make you into an agent of the state..you will speak Mandarin..you will speak Mandarin

Only Microsoft's Office for Mac 2011 14.4.8 will work on your Windows Office files in their native document format. Anything else, and particularly Apple's Pages, Numbers, and Keynote will perform translation on open, and export. This can, and will, introduce differences to your original documents, especially when sharing with others in the Windows Office 2010/2013 applications.

The free LibreOffice is aggressively developed and designed as an MS Office replacement suite. There are occasions where it can open documents that Office for Mac, and Apple's products ignore. Extensive PDF manuals for the individual applications. Unlike Word, you can have two-up page viewing with a button click, or edit multi-page PDF. There is a forms designer. You must be right based on that article (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1353). The latest model of iPod touch is referred to as "iPod touch (Late 2009)" -- and NOT "iPod touch 3rd generation", as I erroneously assumed.
