How do I edit a name on Ichat?

When I added a name to Ichat it was the wrong name. I would like to edit the name, but I don't see a way to do that. I would appreciate anyone help.
Thank you in advance,
Walter

Hi,
I must admit I tend to run some Contacts and Buddies with multiple Cards (Various and variation on real names)
so that I keep some email separate for iChat or Screen Names separate.
We found early on you could add several Screen Names to one Address Book Card and iChat would show the person as On line if they were logged in.  This could be AIM Express or similar with one of those names when in fact they could not chat.
Another point of confusion is that fact that some @mac.com names are not in fact Emails  (And with the exception of Google and Facebook most Jabber IDs are not either).
Certianly for the Apple type names the Address Book will put them in the Email Section rather than the Screen Name/IM service name spot and can lead to the need to move them about.  (If they are not going to be emails that Mail can use).
At present I am having issues syncing the template I am trying in the Address Book on my Mac with that in my Phone.
It has reverted all contacts back to the one on the phone.
I am expecting that when I have sorted this and then restarted it my be picked up by Messages so I can see the titles I have put in the Template (iMessage, Facetime as Custom for email Home and Work)
I do have one buddy at least at the moment how has several email they use only one of which I know to be a Valid ID they use in iMessage/FaceTime (And in fact not for mail)
But their plain email that is email only shows up as a possible iMessage contact in Contacts in Messages.
As this Buddy already has 3 cards to keep other test account separate I am reluctant to create more.
I expect we may have to create Groups within the Address Book for iMessage names as at present Messages does not give them a separate "Buddy list"
At present I can not see a way around this.

How can I edit author name in my podcast after publishing...now it shows "unknown"...thanks a lot for help^^

The author's name is carried in the 'itunes:author' tag. You will need to enter it in the appropriate field in whatever program or online service you are using to make your podcast.

Hi it's probably appearing from your Previous Recipients List...
In Mail Click on Window... Select and Click on Previous Recipients...
Click on and Delete the Names and Addresses you no longer want...

  • How do I edit the name of a Bookmarks Toolbar folder?

I want to change the name of a folder in my Bookmarks Toolbar. I tried opening the 'show all bookmarks', then clicking Bookmarks Toolbar, and then clicking once on the present name with hopes it would allow me to edit it. But it didn't work.

You need to open the Bookmarks Toolbar folder in the left pane in the Library.<br />
Then you can select (highlight) that folder in the right pane and edit the name in the Details pane at the bottom of the right pane.

  • How do I edit my name/alias in profile??

My name contains the letters Æ (æ) and Ø (ø) [Norwegian], and after I registered my account these letters came out as ? and ? in my alias; ¨ and É in my profile name. My alias looks really stupid as " B?rre S?thre ", and my name looks no better: " B¨rre SÉthre "..
I have read everything about how and why Apple Discussion no longer allow users to edit name/alias, but as long as the discussion SW can´t deal with language differences, there has to be room for some exceptions.
Æ Ø Å works perfectly well on any Mac out there, and I see no reason why it shouldn´t be possible to make this work in Apple Discussion.
I know that Spanish natives in here had a similar problem.
If anyone from Apple is in here and reading this, can you P L E A S E work out a fix - or maybe at least tell me what to do or where to call/email to get my name/alias right..?
I know this is probably not on top of the priority list, but it is stupid and annoying, and seems like such an easy thing to fix. How would you guys like to be called J¨hn StÉphen$Én, Br?*n Sm´th or ScØtt McD¨nnÆll ?
    Any input appreciated !
regards, Børre Sæthre - ( or BØRRE SÆTHRE, if you prefer capital letters

    Hi mgguy!
You can make changes to your Discussions ID here My Info. But you can't change your Alias.
Although you can't change the Alias of the account you are using, you can create a new Discussions Account, with an Alias that you prefer.
You cannot delete your present account. Just stop using it, after you have created a new one.
You can use all of the same info in the new account, Email address, User name, etc, just be sure to insert a new Alias of your choosing.
But your Level(0), Points(0), Total Posts(2), Total Posts Online(2) and Registered Date(11/12/06), will not be transferred.
In the new account, your Post Counts, Points, & Level Status will all start at 0. Your Registered Date will be the date you create the new account.
Your old account, with your previous counts & level, will still be viewable, under the old Alias.
After you quit using the old account, those posts, will be archived. What that means is, that if there are no additional responses in the Threads they reside in, the Topics will get continually pushed down on the Topics list. After a certain amount of time, maybe 2 to 6 months, the Threads will be locked, so no responses can be entered. But the Threads will not disappear.
Threads in heavily trafficked Forums, may be archived more rapidly than those in areas, with less activity.
The Topics that you started using the old account, will show your Old Alias, in the Author field of a main forum page, but eventually, readers will have to keep going to the succeeding pages to view them.
If someone were to do a Discussions Search, using these parameters:
Restrict by Category or Forum: All Categories
    Restrict by Date Range: All
Restrict by Username: Your Old Alias
all of your posts, created since about 11/13/05, would be found.
But you only have two posts, so this shouldn't be a factor for you.
    To create a new account,
Log out of Discussions. You also may have to delete the Apple Cookies in your browser preferences, but I'm not sure this is necessary. Then follow either of these instructions.
-How Do I Create My Account?
If you haven't signed up for an Apple ID for the Apple Store or AppleCare Support website (or forgot your old one), you can create a new account on the My Info webpage. Just click the "create one" link on the right side of the My Info page. Choose your country location and preferred language from the appropriate pop-up menus, then click Create Account. In the resulting page, enter a unique name (such as your email address) in the Apple ID field and fill in your other relevant information accordingly (fields marked with * are required). Click Continue to complete the process.
-To register, click Login in the sidebar on the right side of the Discussions page. In the resulting page, click the "create one" link at the bottom of the page, then click "create one" in the subsequent page and follow the instructions to create an Apple ID. For more information, see the Apple ID FAQ page.
Those instructions, and more info, can also be viewed by clicking on ?Help & Terms of Use, in the right column of Discussions pages.

    Hi,
There is Headings Type radio buttons above report column attributes.
Select Headings Type "Custom" and then you can change Headings.

  • How do I add Skype names to iChat?

I thought I read on the Apple site that with Lion, that iChat would find all the names in my Skype list and allow me to use iChat for contacting people who use Skype.  Am I mistaken, or is there a way to do that.  It did not happen automatically, so I am looking for an easy way to add all the Skype names to IceChat.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
If the Address Book cards have the Screen Names the potential Buddy uses then yes you can select one or many Names and drag them to iChat.
The most I have done in one go is 249 names.
I used it to transfer names I had gained over time to Add them all to another Buddy List.
People's @mac.com and MobileMe Email Addresses may be their Screen Names but in many cases are not.
AIM ore recently seem to be encouraging people to Register for an AIM Email address or substitute a third party one rather than using the Screen Name only method.
Mine is really old and is just ralphjohnsr gained from using Netscape but is a valid AIM name.  (no @whatever.com)
In iChat you can create an Address Book Entry.
Click the Add Button at the bottom of the Buddy list
Select Add Buddy from the menu
Add their Screen Name in full in iChat 5
Add First Name, Last Name details
(You can at this point use the Blue arrow thing, next to Last Name, to link to an Existing Address Book Entry)
You Cannot create two Address Book Entries with the same details. (First Name, Last Name
iChat does make it look like they are being added (the fading in and out)  but then they don't appear in the Off line or Online sections - but then does not tell you why.
iChat lets you create Nicknames in the Buddies Info Card (When you have Buddies select one and do a Get Info)
Nicknames get added to the Address Book and again you cannot have two the same (if using Nicknames only)

Im completely new to the iMac system thing so when I signed into ichat, everything worked fine. But then I wanted to sign out and switch to a different screen name and couldn't do it. It just kept signing into my screen name without asking my password. How do i change this?

Go to iChat Preferences>Accounts and click on the account you want to use, then check "use this account" or click on the + sign at the bottom and create a new account if that's what you want.

  • How do I delete old email addresses that pop up in the log?  A few have childhood nicknames that appear on the To line of an email.  I need to change them to grownup names.  How do I edit that log?

How do I delete (or edit) the email addresses that show up on the log of prior sent items?  Several of the names are for childhood nicknames, and I need to have them updated to show adults--e.g., no more "Susie," but now should be "Susan."  How do I edit (or delete and start over) with this log of outgoing addressees?

You can edit in Contacts.app. After editing, delete the contact in Previous Recipients
Under Window in the Menu bar when Mail is open, select Previous Recipients.

How can I edit the file name of the home page?
    Gr Ammani

I have a similar issue with regards to the filename...
When I navigate to my website, it doesnt work unless I actually type the filename at the end of it. Example: type in "www.whitelion.com" (this is my real domain name) and it doesnt work. When I type in "www.whitelion.com/index.html" then it works.
This is obviously inconvenient because my clients will never know to add the filename to the end of the site.
Is there any setting or way to get the page to appear by just typing the original domain name without adding the extension?
    Thanks,

  • How do I edit the search engine name in the Search bar?

I just added the Oxford Dictionary to my list of search engines in the search bar. Only problem is that it doesn't say Oxford Dictionary. It says ONO.
How can I edit this list of search engines so I can change the name to something more descriptive?
Is there not an XML file or such somewhere that contains these entries?

the following extension might be usefull for this purpose: [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/organize-search-engines/]
