How do I edit my reply-to address in Mail?

Recently upgraded to Yosemite. Previously in Mail, I had my reply-to address as a different address from my primary account (I use a forwarding address from my alma mater).
I can't figure out how to do this in Yosemite.
Any help?

Hi KoreanIan,
You can set a reply-to address for each email individually by using the steps in this article -
Mail (Yosemite): Address an email message
Specifically -
Set a Reply To address: Click the Header Fields button  in the toolbar of the message window, choose Reply-To Address Field, then enter the address where you want to receive replies to your message.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
Best,
Brett L

How can I edit my recovery email address if my password had been locked? I couldn't receive the reset my password email because I think my recovery email address was invalid.

The idea of a Recovery email is so the rightful owner accomplishes the recovery, so I don't know of a process to edit that address if you don't know the Apple ID and associated Password.

  • How do I set a 'reply-to' address?

We've got a main email address that gets forwarded to several sub-accounts to each of our computers/devices. When someone replies to an email I've sent from iphone or ipad I want the message to go back to the main email address.  Is there a 'reply-to address' setting that I'm just not seeing?
    Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the quick response Matthew, that's good to know.  I've got so much to learn about iOS.  I don't think it applies to my current situation, however.  I'll give an example:
Let's say my company email address is [email protected] (fictitious addresses for the example). There is no outgoing server from that address. From there, it gets instantly forwarded to mail accounts for all our devices, like [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], etc. When I send someone a message and they reply to that message, I'd like the reply to go automatically to [email protected] so that the reply shows up on all the devices.  We respond much quicker when it works that way.
All the mail programs I've used, Outlook, Gmail, etc., have a place to put a 'reply-to' address for that specific purpose but I can't find it in iOS...
    Thanks!

  • How do I change the "reply to" address for an account?

When I try to change my reply to address it shows "recipients will reply to this other address" and I can't change it. I get this even when I try to add a new identity. Thanks.

''re: When I try to change my reply to address it shows "recipients will reply to this other address" and I can't change it.''
So the 'Reply-to Address' is empty. What do you mean by 'I can't change it' ?
You do not say what you did.
Tools > Account Settings for the mail account
    or
right click on mail account name in Folder Pane and select 'Settings'
Reply-to-Address: 'recipients will reply to this other address' will be in a greyed font.
You put the mouse cursor in this text box and over write with the email address you want to use.
click on 'OK' to save changes.
You can also get access to the various options and text boxes by using the 'Tab' key on your keyboard.
Right click on mail account name in Folder Pane and select 'Settings'
Then press the 'Tab' key to move the focus to different sections, it should start with the focus on the mail account name and after pressing 'Tab' it will move to 'account actions', press again to move to 'Account Name', then 'Your Name:' then 'Email Address' then 'Reply-to-Address' so that you can type the email address.

  • Broken reply to address in Mail

    Hi guys..
Here's the issue I'm having. I receive an email from [email protected] When I press "reply" to this email, the Mail application splits the email address up in two.
So suddenly in the new reply that I'm composing, the recipients are:
firstname, lastname (or sometimes it just does their first name), see the screenshots.
(Above is me receiving an email that I plan to reply to)
(When I reply, it turns her name into just this... which doesn't work)
Neither of them work. I've searched all over for a way to stop this, but can't find anything.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks!
    Drew

Okay, I've got a couple ideas about what you're saying is happening. So, I'm going to mention a couple of things as I think they both have some relevancy.
First off, there's a setting in iPhone's "Settings" app in the "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" section that allows you to set the "Default Account". However, there's a note under that which says it's used when email is created from outside the Mail app, but it may still help out. (Also, I have notice this get reset to the first account listed, and so I had to set it to my preferred account again.) Somehow, though, I don't think that's going to do it completely for you, but I thought I should mention in case it helps later, too.
The other thing to know is how to change you're outgoing email address when writing an email, reply, forward, or anything outgoing. You'll notice in your outgoing email on the second line from the top, after the To: line, it has a line for the "Cc/Bcc, From:". After the From: will be your current outgoing email address and you can change that by tapping on that line. It'll expand into three lines: one for the Cc:, one for the Bcc:, and one for the From:. There's nothing that makes it obvious, but if you tap on the From: line, you'll be given a menu to choose any of your outgoing addresses. Tapping anywhere else besides on those three lines (Cc, Bcc, From) will cause them to collapse back into one line, saving space once again.
    Any luck?

  • Reply to Address on Mail

My wife and I each have a folder in the Inbox.  When I create an email, her address is always the reply to address, even when I select my address on the 'From' drop down menu.  I have configured composing prefererences to send email from the selected mailbox, but this isn't working. What I want is the reply to address to be mine when I send things from my folder or when I select my address from the 'From' drop down.
    Any suggestion?

    I have a similar problem.
I purchased a domain name (we shall call it mycompany.com) and the service includes e-mail forwarding. So, anything sent to [email protected], will in fact fo to [email protected]
What I would like to do is to reply and for the reciever to actually see [email protected], instead of [email protected]
To me, the solution was very simple as to go to account information in Mail and change the e-mail address to [email protected] As it turns out, it is not as simple as I thought. Everytime I try to reply to a message with this settings, I get an error message asking me to choose an SMTP server from the list, and even after choosing the right one, the mail wont be sent.
Now, the weirdest part of all this is that with my previous ISP I used to be able to send e-mails with [email protected] with no problems at all! It worked like a charm and never had the SMTP issue.
I changed ISPs because the Cable service was getting too expensive and the tech support is horrible. Now I use DSL and everything seems to work nice, except for this little bump.
So, do you think this had something to do with Mail or is my new ISP's deal?
    Thanks for your time guys!

  • How do i erase a bad email address from mail?

    Hello,
I once miss typed an email address in mail and it haunts me everyday. If I type the first three letters of the persons name, which is my habit, the bad address is attached to the mail. The result is that I get a server error when i try to send the mail. Then I have to save it as a draft in order to change the address to the correct one by typing fewer of more letters of the recipients first name. I would save myself allot of frustration if I knew where mail stores address shortcuts.
    Thanks very much

Start by making a new message. Now type in the start of the mistake. When you see the mistake allow it to be put in the To: line. It should appear as a normal address with the little blue button around it. Now right click on the address and pick the choice *Remove From Previous Recipients List*. This should clear that mistake out. I just tried it and it worked for me.

  • HT4436 How can I edit my Icloud email address using the same Apple ID?

How is the best option I have to edit or change my Icloud email address?

Unfortunately, you cannot change your primary @me.com or @icloud.com email address, you could however create an alias or create a completely new account.

  • How can I change the return email address in Mail?

    Hi
Having just switched to a Mac and just got broadband I was quite pleased with myself managing to download an email into Mail....
However, we use a forwarding email address at bigfoot.com so that we can always quote the same email address whatever our ISP given address. How can I make this the default return email address on emails I send, rather than the [email protected] that we have been assigned?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Stuart.
Open /Applications/Utilities/Terminal, type the following command (you can just copy it here, paste in a text editor, modify the email address, then copy the whole command again, and paste in Terminal), and press <Return>:
    defaults write com.apple.mail UserHeaders '{"Reply-To" = "[email protected]";}'
The following article contains a more thorough description of this technique that takes into consideration the possibility that you might inadvertently overwrite other default headers by doing that:

  • How do i change the sender / from address in mail? (MS Exchange)

I have set up an MS exchange account in Mail. In OSX Snow Leopard I could change the from address. This is necessary because my account username address is not the main address I use (I work in a company's sub division). So my from is not correct generally, and it's also annoying because my own address pops up when I do a reply all.
    Any suggestions?

You can fix this problem by adding an entry into a file on your mac. You have to add an alias, but manually so by editing this file below:
I finally found a solution. You can edit this file where USERNAME = users acutal account on the mac:
    Close Mail.
    Go to:
    /Users/USERNAME/Library/Mail/V2/MailData/accounts.plist
    Under this:
                <key>EmailAddresses</key>
                <array>
                    <string>[email protected]</string>
                </array>
    Type:
                <key>EmailAliases</key>
                <array>
                    <dict>
                        <key>alias</key>
                        <string>[email protected]</string>
                        <key>name</key>
                        <string>Name 1</string>
                    </dict>
                </array>
    Save version of file.
    Open Mail.
I hope this helps - it seemed to work for me.

  • How to send 1 email to all addresses in Mails memory......

    without using the address book.
Ya' know how "Mail" keeps all of your sent-to addresses, noticable when you start to type in an address and it finishes it.......
I need to send one "change of contacts" email to everyone who has sent and received an email from me. Any easy way to go about it?
    Thanks Much!
    Chris

Following on with Austin's reply, if you don't want to permanently add all those folks in Mail's Previous Recipients list to your Address Book, open up your home folder's Library folder's Application Support folder and copy your AddressBook folder to your Desktop. Then in Mail's Previous recipients window, when you select all entries and add them to your address book, and then in Mail, new message, address book, select all and drag everybody from the list into your To: (or maybe better, BCC:) field, and send your email.
Then throw away the newly modified AddressBook folder (in your home folder's Library folder's Application Support folder) and drag the wanted AddressBook folder now on your Desktop back into it's rightful place (into your home folder's Library folder's Application Support folder).

  • How can I edit the 'from' field at e-mail receipts

I tried to add my own name in the 'from' field in the section 'e-mail receipts', but the system won't let me edit the field. It always sticks with the standard 'from' name Adobe Forms Central. I have a Plus Subscription package.
Please advise how to proceed. Thanks.

    Hi,
To customize the name in the "From" field used for email receipts, you must first select an address other than "[email protected]".

  • How to delete the log of sender Addresses in Mail?

When I am sending an Email with iPhone 4, and I start tipping the address I want to send, it starts to list used addresses in order to autofill. But some of those I want to delete. How can I do that? Even, if I had to erase all, would be fine but HOW? Thank you for your answer.

The only way to purge this data from your phone is to restore your phone as a new device in iTunes. Otherwise, you either live with it or over time the data will be overwritten as you use your phone.

  • How can I edit received emails in Apple's Mail app? Also, delayed sending of replies?

I finally switched to Apple's Mail app 4 months ago after 12 years of using Eudora (because of the inevitable - that Lion or Mountain Lion, when I upgrade, will not support the foundation architecture that Eudora is built on).
There are (AT LEAST) two functions available in Eudora that I very much want to do with Mail and currently cannot figure out how to do. I'm hoping that someone knows of a plugin that will do these functions, or will write such a plugin, or will tell me how to make this suggestion to Apple to include in a future update.
    1) I want the freedom to EDIT a received message - to correct a subject line, or make it more relevant for my reference, or add a key word/prefix to the subject for future searching and archiving, along with being able to edit the message itself, so that it is the equivalent in a book (or an eBook) of adding comments/marginalia for future reference. (In my opinion, once I receive an email message, it is MINE - so I should be able to do what I want with it (which includes the responsibility of not rewriting a message to resend to appear as deceptive or fraudulent).
    2) Write up a draft email, that would reside in the "Send" folder of Eudora, and for which I could select a time in the future that it should be mailed (dependent on the fact that Eudora would be running at that time, else it would send the next time Eudora was opened. I would LOVE to be able to do that in Apple Mail. Rationale: Often, when I receive an actionable email, I want to respond at that moment while the subject is fresh, but due to priorities or scheduling reasons, I don't want the response to go out just then. Maybe I want the response to go out after an event three days from now, but I want to process the message right now, and I don't want to have to remember to make a ToDo item to remind me in 3 days.

    Thanks, a brody.
That tip takes me further down the field. And, I am able to do stuff like indent and change font color of my comments which is very helpful.
However, the big disappointment is that by dragging the original message to the Draft mailbox and then back to the original one after the edits is that it removes the original sender's name and puts mine in along with changing the heading info on date and time. That is, it creates a new message, rather than allowing me to modify the original one to suit my needs.
All the same, this was a very helpful tip. Thanks again.
Anyone know of a plugin?..............or two?....

  • How to work seperately with 2 MobileMe addresses in Mail?

    Hello!
I have several MobileMe addresses I'd like to add to Mail. I'm already working with one (private), but would like to add a second one (business). I don't want the mails to show up together, but keep both adresses seperate in Mail.
Can anyone tell me how to do this?
    Thanks!

Just create another MobileMe account in Mail. Go to Mail -> Preferences, click the Accounts icon and click the + button at the bottom left corner of the window. Enter the requested info.
