How do I eject a CD in Solaris 10?

The only way I have discovered so far is to start the CD Player application and use it's eject button!

Yeah, it seems that life outside the M$ world is a bit hit-and-miss.
I absolutely hate where they are going with Vista and I have vowed that there is no way I'm going there (or helping any of my friends or family go that way) but what is the alternative?
If you could run OS X on non-Apple hardware i would go down that route. It's not 100%, but it is good enough - this is being posted from an iMac.
I have tried many Linux distro's and they generally suck as far as end-user usability is concerned (but they are getting better).
Ubuntu is the easiest I have found so far - but even that required some hacking to get my NVidia 6200 running above 1024x768.
I was hoping that Solaris was the solution to all my woes! But, after wasting an entire 2 days trying to get it to install I gave up. I couldn't even get it to read a standard 1.44Mb floppy (required to try and install some drivers that prevented the network from working). The CD and DVD-ROM drives were patchy and so infuriating (eject wise and manual mounting required sometimes). Maybe with "approved hardware" it would have been easier - but then if i need special hardware I would rather buy a Mac.
Maybe this is yet another case of "your mileage may vary"

You don't need to eject the iPhone after importing, if it has vanished from iPhotos's source list in the sidebar. Then it has been dismounted.

  • How to find out the info regarding Solaris, server hang or shutdown.

    Hi
As I am handling the Solaris 9 Server remotely.
As in last week the server has stopped to respond suddenly, we have tried to ping, ssh which was not working. As ultimately we have asked the Data Centre Team to hard reboot the same, to resolve the issue.
In the same ref I would like to know how we come to know the reason, what caused to reboot the same, i.e . any log file, etc..
I have check /var/adm/messages, but not found any detail for the same.
    Thanks

    No core files?
    No hope for an answer.
As you learned in the other Internet forum.

    To get such corefiles analyzed,
you would need to use your service contract and log a support case with Sun.
They have the special software tools to do that.

  • How to manually eject a CD on my 24" iMac.

    Dear guys,
Can anyone help to answer my question on how to manually eject a cd on my 24" imac. I inserted the Window XP Pro SP3 into my imac. Its started to run the os now cannot boot the system. Actually can anyone help to advise how to go about do the boot camp process. Great thanks.
    Please help....

If the mouse routine does not work. on some Macs, there is a little manual trigger in the extreme top of the disc slot. Carefully trip it with something like a straightened paperclip. It is just a fraction of an inch inside.
Your post is a bit cryptic. Did you actually follow the BootCamp process or just insert this Windows disc?
There is an entire Apple Discussion forum dedicated to Boot Camp and Windows.
Whereas, not everyone here with an Intel iMac has installed, tried to install or has experience with BC & Windows, everyone there has or at least has an interest. You may attract help more quickly there.
    The Forums are at the bottom of the main Apple Discussions page under Windows Compatible Technology. Here is a link;

    Complements of Kappy:
    Try:
    1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
left mouse button until the disc ejects.
    2. Press the Eject button on your keyboard.
    3. Click on the Eject button in the menubar.
    4. Press COMMAND-E.
    5. If none of the above work try this: Open the Terminal application in
your Utilities folder. At the prompt enter or paste the following:
    /usr/bin/drutil eject
If this fails then try this:
Boot the computer into Single-user Mode. At the prompt enter the same command as used above. To restart the computer enter "reboot" at the prompt without quotes.

  • I'm trying to install bootcamp and XP, but when keyboard does't work. How can I eject the disc?

How can I eject the disc and start over and get into the OSX system?

XP isn't supported in BootCamp, you'll have to use the free VirualBox or one of the other commercial virtual machine softwares to run it in a window on OS X. The performance isn't going to be good enough for 3D games or heavy CPU ones, but good enought for most general use software.
Apple doesn't supply the hybrid MBR and hardware drivers required to run XP in BootCamp any longer. If you were on Snow Leopard 10.6 it's still possible, but not Lion or Mountain Lion.
This is what you do to resolve your problem.
1: Hold the power button down to force a hardware shutdown (emergency use only use the Apple Menu > shutdown all other times)
2: Press and hold the option/alt key on the keyboard.
3: Boot the computer and enter Startup Manager
4: Keep pressing the eject key on the keyboard, the disk will eject.
5: Select OS X to boot from by clicking on the volume and the little arrow that appears.
6: Set Startup Disk in System Preferences  to OS X.
7: Head to BootCamp Utility and use it to remove the BootCamp partition.
8: If you used Disk Utility, then use that to remove the second partition and absorb the remaining space back into the OS X partition.
9: Install VirtualBox, if on 10.8 you migh have to control/right click and "Open" to bypass Gatekeeper controls for the installer and/or program at least once.
10: Read the instructions how to setup and use VirtualBox.

Hold down the mouse button while restarting. This should eject any disc in the drive.

  • How do I eject the install disk on the mini mac?

In wiping the mini mac, it keeps looping to the erase and install.  It won't allow me to shut down or eject the disk to put in the program disk.  When the screen gets to the Install Mac OS X, it won't show any disk (the Mac Mini) to install it.  I used the Utilities to erase and install, but I can't go any further.  It should install with a system lower than the OS X Yosemite.
