How do I eject a disc when keyboard won't?

I was trying to update to snow leopard and am now stuck on apple symbol with twirling status and cannot eject the disc. Any help?

I saw my question elsewhere and tried the suggestion and it worked.
Rebooted Computer and Held down the mouse button at the same time... it worked!

    How can I eject the disc and start over and get into the OSX system?

    XP isn't supported in BootCamp, you'll have to use the free VirualBox or one of the other commercial virtual machine softwares to run it in a window on OS X. The performance isn't going to be good enough for 3D games or heavy CPU ones, but good enought for most general use software.
    Apple doesn't supply the hybrid MBR and hardware drivers required to run XP in BootCamp any longer. If you were on Snow Leopard 10.6 it's still possible, but not Lion or Mountain Lion.
    This is what you do to resolve your problem.
    1: Hold the power button down to force a hardware shutdown (emergency use only use the Apple Menu > shutdown all other times)
    2: Press and hold the option/alt key on the keyboard.
    3: Boot the computer and enter Startup Manager
    4: Keep pressing the eject key on the keyboard, the disk will eject.
    5: Select OS X to boot from by clicking on the volume and the little arrow that appears.
    6: Set Startup Disk in System Preferences  to OS X.
    7: Head to BootCamp Utility and use it to remove the BootCamp partition.
    8: If you used Disk Utility, then use that to remove the second partition and absorb the remaining space back into the OS X partition.
    9: Install VirtualBox, if on 10.8 you migh have to control/right click and "Open" to bypass Gatekeeper controls for the installer and/or program at least once.
    10: Read the instructions how to setup and use VirtualBox.

  • How do I eject a disc

    Really stupid question, but how do I eject a disc from my iMac?  On my PC, there was always a button to press and the disc would pop out.

    Five ways to eject a stuck CD or DVD from the optical drive
    Ejecting the stuck disc can usually be done in one of the following ways:
    1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the left mouse button until the disc ejects.
    2. Press the Eject button on your keyboard.
    3. Click on the Eject button in the menubar.
    4. Press COMMAND-E.
    5. If none of the above work try this: Open the Terminal application in your Utilities folder. At the prompt enter or paste the following:
      /usr/bin/drutil eject
    If this fails then try this:
    Boot the computer into Single-user Mode. At the prompt enter the same command as used above. To restart the computer enter "reboot" at the prompt without quotes.
    On your keyboard in the upper right-most corner is the Eject button. Above the Delete key.

  • How do I eject a disc stuck in my drive?

    How do I eject a disc stuck in my disc drive?  I have tried all the normal eject methods.

    Hello stewmail,
    Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with the disk that will not eject.  I recommend the following steps:
    If you can’t eject a CD or DVD
    Choose Apple menu > Log Out, and then log in again. Try to eject the disc again.
    If you still can’t eject the CD or DVD, choose Apple menu > Restart. While your computer restarts, hold down the mouse button or trackpad button until the disc is ejected.
    You can find the full article here (the article title refers to Mountain Lion, but these steps will work for Mavericks too):

    how do i fix my printer when it won't show the print preview for web pages?  it worked for a while and now it doesn't.  printer is an hp officejet 7310 all-in-one.

    I would suspect this is a hardware issue.  The rollers are probably having issues picking up the relatively smooth thick media.  You might have better results be cleaning the paper pickup rollers with a damp paper towel.  Also make sure the paper is snugly loaded and the paper guides have been correctly positioned.

    Hello 123ol,
    Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    To eject a disc from your iMac, simply follow the directions below to get the disc out.
    If the disc will not eject, try pressing the eject key on the keyboard. Some older keyboards may use the F12 key to eject discs.

  • How to make view automatically scroll when keyboard show up

    Hi all
    I'm like a totally noob for objective-c coding, let alone the iPhone programing. :P
    Anyway, I somehow manage to create a simple application that receive input via UITextField, do some simple math, then display the result in other UITextFields (which can act as a input vice versa).
    Problem is, when I use the UITextField at the buttom of the screen as an input, the keyboard will block that text field out of my view, so I could not see what I'm typing at all.
    That's the question. How to make my view scrollable, and make it simply scroll itself out of the way when the keyboard is shown? I already inherit my view from UIScrollView, but don't know what to do next. Can you guys help enlighten me, please?
    Thanx

    Of course, if you're dealing with textFields, you should change a few things try something like that in your .m file :
    - (void)textFieldDidBeginEditing:(UITextField *)theTextField
    if ([theTextField isEqual:yourTextField])
    // Restore the position of the main view if it was animated to make room for the keyboard.
    if (self.view.frame.origin.y >= 0)
    [self setViewMovedUp:YES];
    // Animate the entire view up or down, to prevent the keyboard from covering the author field.
    - (void)setViewMovedUp:(BOOL)movedUp
    [UIView beginAnimations:nil context:NULL];
    [UIView setAnimationDuration:0.3];
    // Make changes to the view's frame inside the animation block. They will be animated instead
    // of taking place immediately.
    CGRect rect = self.view.frame;
    if (movedUp)
    // If moving up, not only decrease the origin but increase the height so the view
    // covers the entire screen behind the keyboard.
    rect.origin.y -= kOFFSETFORKEYBOARD;
    rect.size.height += kOFFSETFORKEYBOARD;
    else
    // If moving down, not only increase the origin but decrease the height.
    rect.origin.y += kOFFSETFORKEYBOARD;
    rect.size.height -= kOFFSETFORKEYBOARD;
    self.view.frame = rect;
    [UIView commitAnimations];
    - (void)keyboardWillShow:(NSNotification *)notif
    // The keyboard will be shown. If the user is editing the author, adjust the display so that the
    // author field will not be covered by the keyboard.
    if ([yourTextField isFirstResponder] && self.view.frame.origin.y >= 0)
    [self setViewMovedUp:YES];
    else if (![yourTextField isFirstResponder] && self.view.frame.origin.y < 0)
    [self setViewMovedUp:NO];
    #pragma mark - UIViewController delegate methods
    - (void)viewWillAppear:(BOOL)animated
    // watch the keyboard so we can adjust the user interface if necessary.
    [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self selector:@selector(keyboardWillShow:)
    name:UIKeyboardWillShowNotification object:self.view.window];
    - (void)viewWillDisappear:(BOOL)animated
    [self setEditing:NO animated:YES];
    // unregister for keyboard notifications while not visible.
    [[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] removeObserver:self name:UIKeyboardWillShowNotification object:nil];
    be sure to invoke the method when you dismiss the keyboard, so that the view "falls back" to its normal state:
    if (self.view.frame.origin.y < 0)
    [self setViewMovedUp:NO];
    Of course, declare the method
    (void)setViewMovedUp:(BOOL)movedUp;
    in the .h file
    and the #define you will use in you .m file :
    // the amount of vertical shift upwards keep the text field in view as the keyboard appears
    #define kOFFSETFORKEYBOARD 50.0
    // the duration of the animation for the view shift
    #define kVerticalOffsetAnimationDuration 0.30
    good luck !
