How do I eliminate firefox from my computer

I need to have a master password again and the only way I can get one is to start all over with a brand new fresh copy of firefox. my computer keeps remembering it no matter how many times i try to uninstall.

"in the url bar go to "about:support" where it says profile directory click "open containg folder" delete the folder it opens"
1. is the url br the place that starts with https? 2. I am using a Mac Book Pro and I don't see" support" when I click on "about" and I don't see profile directory anywhere. hence i don't see the rest either.
I'm self-taught and about at the end of what I can figure out alone!!

  • How do I eliminate firefox from remembering user name and/or passwords on certain web pages that I have PREVIOUSLY checked to REMEMBER usernames, settings, and/or passwords?

I have selected "remember" when the question was "Do you want Firefox to remember the password for "__________" on ___.com.
I NO LONGER want firefox to remember the password on some of those sites. HOW DO I CHANGE THIS so that the password IS NOT REMEMBERED?

Options > Security - click the Saved Passwords button. You should be able to remove anything there that you want.
By the way, Firefox 3.6 is now up to version3.6.20. It would be a good idea to get 3.6.20.

Well first off you'll need another browser, Firefox allows many other search engine choices, Chrome is made by Google so that's no help really.
    https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/
Once you have Firefox installed (and check the status of your plug-ins) you can search online for alternate search engines, there are hundreds.
Duck Duck Go is very privacy oriented.
    https://duckduckgo.com/html/
    You can find more here
    https://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/top_10_alternative_search_engi.php
Once you find one you like and visit the site you can add it to the Firefox search selection like this
You also can remove Google if you wish totally or just not use it.
Firefox also has Ad Block Plus, Ghostery, BetterPrivacy add-ons which combined and enabled will stop the trackers of Google and others.

  • How do you remove Firefox from computer, will not delete from "Add/delete hardware"

Have tried to remove firefox from computer. Tried "add/remove harware, programs" from control panel, won't do anything keeps popping back up. Several months ago firefox crashed and computer would not let me log on to the internet. Went back to internet explorer works great. But now I can't seem to get rid of firefox from my computer. My internet carrier (cox.net) say that firefox is not compatible with their internet system. How can I remove firefox from control panel, is taking up space in my computer?

Try Programs or Programs and Features, Firefox is software not hardware.
Look in there for Mozilla Firefox not Firefox.

I have tried everything I could to fix this, but some things require actually being on Firefox, and since I cannot get on, I cannot click on the tabs to do it. I have even totally uninstalled firefox, and that has not fixed this. I still get the same message that firefox is running and I need to close it or restart (which I have also tried dozens of times). I have removed things like Java, and that has not helped either. If I cannot even get on line in firefox, how can I fix this. I am not crazy about using internet explorer, but right now, it is my only option. I even tried to start in safe mode, and the same message box pops up!

How do I stop Firefox from doing this?

Make sure that Firefox closes properly and that there isn't a hanging Firefox or plugin-container process left in the task manager.
Use "Firefox/File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit") to close Firefox if you are currently doing that by clicking the close X on the title bar.

  • How do I completely delete firefox from my computer and then reload it without losing settings, background, toolbars, etc.?

I need to completely remove Firefox from my computer and then reload it because the current one on my computer is compromised... I don't want to lose my settings, background, and toolbars if at all possible... my computer has been having a lot of problems for a long time, finally got a hacker and viruses removed but programs and apps are still having problems and all have suggested a compromised browser along with the browser itself having issues with "stop script", "not responding", freezing, crashing, and blue screen...

    ''Duplicate post, continue [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/746670 here]''

Firefox has no option to launch at startup, it will be an operating system setting that is launching Firefox.
    # Log in as the user who wishes to have a login item or as an admin user.
    # Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu.
    # Choose Accounts from the View menu.
    # Click the name of the user.
    # Click the Login Items button
    # Select Firefox in the list of startup items.
    # Stop Firefox launching at startup by clicking on the minus sign.
