Do you mean from the organizer? Right click one (shift-click or
ctrl-click to select multiple photos first if you want to do more
than one at a time), then choose "delete from catalog". A window
will pop up asking if you also want to delete from your hard drive.
If so, then turn on the checkbox there.
If you just mean from the editor or the mac version, just close the
file(s) there.

How can I find photos that are not assigned to any collection?
Hi !
I'm using LR 5.7.1 on a Mac.
When I've retouched raw pictures with PS CC (and do not need the PSD file any longer) I export the PSD (that is in my catalog) as JPG and let it add to my catalog automatically. After that I delete the PSD file. That works fine.
But .... the new JPG file is not assigned to any collection. That's no problem unless I forget to do it manually after that export (and import).
That brings me to my question.
How can I find photos that are not assigned to any collection?
I tried it with a smart collection after I found nothing suitable in library filter. The search criteria I tried are Source -> Collection with any of the conditions. One with an empty value field, then with just a space and so on.
Has anybody a good hint for me?
ThomasYou can also add numbers if you have collections that don't use alphabet characters.

HT201317 How do I delete photos that are stored in ICloud as Albums?
When I plugged in my IPhone to my computer my photos in albums duplicated several times. How do I delete photos that are stored in ICloud? It's really frustrating since I am having several copies of photos on my phone. Please advise..thank you. Judy

For example, if I delete a photo from my iPad, doesn't it stay in the cloud?
If you have let your device upload the photo from Camera Roll to your Photo Stream in iCloud, then yes it will remain in iCloud even if you remove it from Camera Roll. If you want to delete the photo from Photo Stream too, see my first post.

You cannot edit or view the contents of a backup. If your device has things on it that you don't want backed up to iCloud, delete the items from your device and the next iCloud backup won't contain them. Or change your backup routine to back up to your computer instead of iCloud. -
How do you view photos that are backed up on icloud
How do I view photos that are on icloud on my personal computer
Photos in an iOS backup cannot be viewed, not until you've restored the backup to a device, and they can't be viewed on a computer.
I'm assuming you are refering to photos in an iOS backup from a device and not photo stream, which is not a backup. -

How do you remove photo that are synced to your phone
How do you remove photos that are synced to your phone
Hi amandafromcroydon,
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
To remove synced photos, you sync again without those photos selected for sync.
iTunes: Syncing photos
To delete synced photos and videos from your device
In iTunes, click the Device button in the upper right corner. (If viewing the iTunes Store, click the Library button in the upper-right corner first.)
Click the Photos tab in the resulting window.
Choose "Selected albums" and deselect the albums or collections you want to delete.
Note: To delete all synced photos, deselect "Sync Photos from" and, when asked, click "Remove photos."
Click Apply.
Take care,

I have lost my iPhone 5. How can I get photos that are backed up on iCloud?
Hello,
I have lost my iPhone 5. How can I get photos that are backed up on iCloud?
Thanks!I wish, essentially you have an image file of your personal information integrated with parts of IOS in the cloud server. If you had it on your computer - you could use one of the software extractors (bunch with google search, paid and free). From icloud server it can be restored to other iphone, ipod touch, ipad - then backed up or imported to computer for you. Then that other device can return to your friend or family member. That is the only way I can think of.

Is it possible to move all my photos , Tags and folders in Photoshop Elements 5 from my Vista machine to my new Apple iMac desktop?
You will need to upgrade PSE in windows to at least PSE 9, then do a full backup using the organizer's backup command to a removable drive, then restore to the mac. The mac organizer can only understand windows catalogs from PSE 9 or later.
You can download a trial version here to get the catalog updated:

How can I find photos that are not in any event?
Help! I have finally, after a decade or so, organized my events and emptied out the trash and gotten rid of duplicates. Round of applause, please. How can I find out if there are sneaky pictures that are NOT in any particular event (please dont say by showing all photos and just going through each one!)
You can't because every photo is in an Event already. That's how iPhoto works. Every photo is in the LIbrary. The Library is built upon events. SO if it's in iPhoto, it's in the Library and in an Event.
Albums are different, as they refernce photos in the LIbrary. It;s perfectly possilbe to have a photo in the Library but not in an album. -
IMovie 11 how do I import photos that ARE NOT in iPhoto
If I don't use iPhoto, how can I import photos into an iMovie 2011 project?
As far as I can see, you have to put your photos into iPhoto first. I don;t use iPhoto, I use Lightroom and it would be a pain if the only way that I could get photos into an iMovie project was to have to load them into iPhoto.
thanksI finally figured it out myself. You can drag photos from Finder into the project timeline.
I couldn't find this docuemented anywhere and every tutorial only talks about using iphoto. -

How can I save photos to iPhoto direct from Photoshop Elements
Does anyone know how I can save a photo direct to iPhoto after editing in PSE? Currently I save to the desktop and then "import". Its a bit of a fiddly way espectially if you are editing a number of photos direct from iPhoto. It would be nice to save them back to the relevant Event or Album.
RegardsThis may help:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window
that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 9 or later the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always. In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
Note: to switch between iPhoto and PS or PSE as the editor of choice Control (right)-click on the thumbnail and select either Edit in iPhoto or Edit in External Editor from the contextual menu.

How do I import photos from Adobe Revel to Photoshop Elements 12?
I have Photoshop Elements 12 on my PC, and the Adobe Revel app on my Samsung Galaxy Tablet. How do I import photos taken with the tablet and stored in Revel to Elements?
Don't do any of that. Just export the photos from iPhoto
File -> Export
to folders in the Finder. That's the supported way and has the added advantage that you can use the names you've given to your Events or Albums as well.
This User Tip

has details of the options in the Export dialogue. -
How do I get Photo Editor to work in Photoshop Elements 12?
My Photoshop Elements 12 (PSE-12) worked fine until I recently had to repair/recover my (only) PC (Win7prof, 64bit, 2 TB HDD, 8GB RAM). I didn’t then know about any de-activationsif in case that might be the cause. Now I have done all ‘Adobe’s ‘formalities’ (AdobeID, AdobeAccount, installed CreativeCloud) and tried to ‘sign-out’ in CreativeCloud to de-activate according to instructions in Help – and then re-installed the PSE-12. But only Organizer seems to be installed, not PhotoEditor, the module I really need.
How shall I get PhotoEditor to work again? Helo asap is much appreciated. Pertti Rönnbergreset your preferences -

IPhoto : how to recover imported photos that are now "*.ipmeta" files
Yesterday I imported photos from my Nikon camera in iPhoto. I imported them in an album. Then I deleted all photos from the camera and empty the trash (mac book).
Today I open iPhoto and I don't find the photos any more : neither in iPhoto nor in My Pictures.
Using the Finder (search on Yesterday), I found is a list of files such as "photo.002723.ipmeta". It looks like these files may correspond to the photos, but I cannot open them with iPhoto.
How can I recover my photos ?
I understand my mistake was to import the photos in iPhoto without first moving them to My Pictures.Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
I understand my mistake was to import the photos in iPhoto without first moving them to My Pictures.
It wasn’t, unless you’re running a Referenced Library. Are you?
Then I deleted all photos from the camera
You can probably recover the photos from your camera card with an app like MediaRecover.
Today I open iPhoto and I don't find the photos any more : neither in iPhoto nor in My Pictures.
Are you sure you don’t have a damaged database file?
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the apple and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
photo.002723.ipmeta
These are database files of about 4kb each. They are not your photos and your pics cannot be recovered from them.
