How do I eliminate random squares from pdf output?

When I create a PDF from FrameMaker 8, random squares appear in the output.  How can I eliminate these squares?  And is the issue with the Distiller, Distiller settings, or with FrameMaker or what?  The squares do not replace characters, but are overtop of them.
Thank you,
Erin

Arnis,
The squares are only appearing on the copyright page.  I don’t know why this would be.   It only has text.  And the fonts used on that page are also used in the rest of the book.  Here is an example of the squares I am seeing.  Are you able to see this?
The rest of the document has step by step instructions, some pictures and tables, paragraphs....I don't know the original source of the content in the files.  It could have started in Word.   There are some coding examples in the text (Monotype), but that font is not used in the file that has the issues.  I guess the copyright page that has the issues could have been copied from another document at some point.  Would I need to do anything to that content to make it acceptable?
Thank you,
Erin

  • Script or way to delete or export random pages from pdf...

    hello
    I have many request to export random pages from pdf doc. etc.. 1-3,51,63,78-92...I think that easy way is to have some script which will open dialog box and ask for which pages I want to export or delete from pdf. Anyone have something for this?
    thanks

    I find way for this on adobe blog. I am so stupid that I miss this "choose pages" button!!! You can combine more files and in list select pdf, and choose which pages from individual doc you want. Great

  • How to read line number text from PDF using plugin?

    Hi, I would like to know how to read line number text from PDF using plugin?
    Thanks in advance.

    Ok, some background reading of the PDF Reference will help you understand why this is so difficult. PDF files are not organised into lines. It is best to think of each word or character on the page as being a graphic with its own position. The human eye sees lines where a series of graphics (words) are roughly in the same horizontal region.
    In the general case it is difficult or even impossible to answer this. You may have columns with different spacing (but the PDF stores no information on what is a column). You may have subscripts and superscripts. You may have text in graphics coinciding with other text. Commonly, there may be titles, headings or page numbers which are just ordinary text and might count as lines.
    That said, what you need to do is extract the text on the page and its positions. The WordFinder APIs are the way to do that. Now, sort all the words out, using the Y coordinates and size to try and guess what makes a "line". Now you are in a position to find the text (divided into words, not strings) and report the "line number" you have estimated.

  • How to remove new line character from query output?

    Hi,
    How to remove new line character from query output?
    have tried select replace(column_name, CHR(10), ' ') from table_name.

    Please consider, that windows uses a sequence of chr13||chr(10) Unix uses only one character chr(10).
    The new line character(s) may be OS-dependent.
    You could consider both with:
    replace(replace(column_name, CHR(13)||CHR(10), ' '),CHR(10),' ')

  • Exporting to PDF with hyperlinks, how do I keep the squares from showing around them?

    I have a document Im creating and I have ads created in graphics, other PDFs, and text which all have hyperlinks in them that I want to be clickable.  the JPGs with them, I put an invisible square over the link and assigned the link.  For most of the PDFs I got, the hyperlinks were already clickable.  When I export the final document to PDF, all those links are carried over just how I like, and no squares are shown over those links...perfect.  For all the typed text that has hyperlinks, those show a square going around those links.  Its VERY ugly!  How do I keep it from doing that and keep everything clickable that needs to be?

    The following simple Javascript should set all of  document's hyperlinks to "invisible rectangle":
           var myHyperlinks = app.activeDocument.hyperlinks.everyItem().getElements();
    for (i = myHyperlinks.length - 1; i >= 0; i--){
           myHyperlinks[i].visible = false;
    (save it as "HyperlinksInvisible.jsx", or whatever, put it into the Scripts panel folder, and double-click its name in the Script Panel to run it.)

  • Eliminate specific separations from PDF

    Hi guys,
    I am trying to create a plugin for Acrobat 9 Pro that will eliminate the content from specific separations( like varnish, diecut marks and so on ) from a PDF. And then save the result as a TIFF file.
    PDF to Tiff export I already achieved, but there is no option to say what separations to include in the composite file.
    The plugin can access the number of visible inks in the AVPageView, but this result is only on screen and I think it is not applied when exporting the file.
    I thought of printing to another PDF excluding some of the separations. But when I am printing composite output I cannot exclude any of the separations. Separations can be excluded only if I print separations each one per page. But then I don't know how to combine them.
    Now I am thinkig to set the unwanted spot colors with color conversion to alias to a non printable spot color. Still struggling on this.
    Any other suggestions?
    Best Regards,
    Nikolai Tasev

    I can think of a few ways to do this...but if it were me writing it I would put all the objects drawing in a specific separation color (or whatever your criteria are) into a new Optional Content Group and then set which groups to turn off when rendering for TIFF/output.
    You can either do the first part yourself (the hard way) or let Acrobat 9's Preflight do it for you via the Preflight APIs.  The second is just changing the values you pass to the PDPageDraw call (or switching to the more advanced version of the call) - unless you are using AVConversion in which case you would need to change the current OCGs before export.

  • How to get font's information from PDF of page item?

    The PDF file is placed in a document of InDesign.How to get the list of font's name from the PDF.I would like to know the font which is used in the PDF file.

    Thanks, Michael 2 James
    I try it.The IFontNames interface's "FontsSupplied" Function can't got the name of fonts from PDF file. This PDF file was created by InDesign.
    If the PDF file had be created by Adobe Acrobat and some fonts had be embedded,the "FontsSupplied" Function would have gotten the name of fonts.
    There other ways?Thanks

    You shouldn't have to.  Time Machine will delete them automatically when it needs room for new ones.  If you're running Leopard, though, and have the Warn when old backups are deleted box checked in Time Machine Preferences > Options, it won't.  Just remove the check and run a backup.
    If you have other data on the TC's internal HD, that's going to cause trouble sooner or later.  See #Q3 in Using Time Machine with a Time Capsule for some possible workarounds.
    If you still want to delete individual backups, or all backups of selected items, do not use the Finder.  See #12 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions, and note the pink box there.
