Hey geor39,
To find and remove all the songs that show up more than once in your library, follow the steps in the article below:
How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library

If you're using iTunes 11, the feature is under View instead of File.
All the best,

These applications will identify and help remove duplicate photos from an iPhoto Library:
iPhoto Library Manager - $29.95
PhotoSweeper - $9.95 - This app can search by comparing the image's bitmaps or histograms thus finding duplicates with different file names and dates.
Duplicate Annihilator - $7.95 - only app able to detect duplicate thumbnail files or faces files when an iPhoto 8 or earlier library has been imported the library.
DeCloner - $19.95 - can find duplicates in iPhoto Libraries or in folders on the HD.
DupliFinder - $7 - shows which events the photos are in.
iPhoto AppleScript to Remove Duplicates - Free
PhotoDedupo - $4.99 (App Store) - this app has a "similar" search feature which is like PhotoSweeper's bitmap comparison. It found all duplicates
Duplicate Cleaner for iPhoto - free - was able to recognize the duplicated HDR and normal files from an iPhone shooting in HDR
Some users have reported that PhotoSweeper did the best in finding all of the dups in their library: iphoto has duplicated many photos, how...: Apple Support Communities.
If you have an iPhone and have it set to keep the normal photo when shooting HDR photos the two image files that are created will be duplicates in a manner of speaking (same image) but there are only twp apps that detected the iPhone HDR and normal photos as being duplicates: PhotoSweeper and Duplicate Cleaner for iPhoto. None of the other apps detected those two files as being duplicates as they look for file name as well as other attributes and the two files from the iPhone have different file names.
iPLM, however, is the best all around iPhoto utility as it can do so much more than just find duplicates. IMO it's a must have tool if using iPhoto.

• I have been putting in a URL and yahoo snags it parses it to several words then gives me a search page... I use Google for search andf I want to go to the specific URL I entered... How do I block Yahoo from doing this crap?

I use google for my search engine. I do not have any reference to Yahoo in my plugins or extensions on Firefox. Every time I enter a specific URL in the Firefox box, Yahoo comes up, has the full URL I entered to go directly to. It has the URL in the Yahoo search entry field and it parses the name to several words that make up the entire URL. Asks me if I only want the name I entered and lists every site that contains the words it parses... Yahoo is really screw up if it hijacks the browser. How do I prevent them from doing this...

Hi,
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
#Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
Further information can be found in the [[Reset Firefox – easily fix most problems]] article.

Hi gunnermac,
You should take a look at the Knowledge Base article [[How to set the home page]]. Your homepage might have been changed by a particular site. Sites like MSN, Yahoo, etc have been know to ask to become your homepage.
There are steps in that article to reset your homepage preferences to default. I would try that first to clear out any strangeness. If that works, you can try setting your homepage again to your personal preference.
If Yahoo has been set as the default search in the search bar, you should take a look at the Knowledge Base article [[Search bar]].
If the address bar search has been changed as well, you might want to take a look at [[Location bar search]].
If that doesn't work you should look at the article [[Preferences are not saved]].
Finally, your issue may be because you've been hit with some [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Is%20my%20Firefox%20problem%20a%20result%20of%20malware?s=malware&r=0&e=sph&as=s#w_how-do-i-get-rid-of-malware Malware].
Hopefully this helps!

• How do I eliminate "Faces" from iPhoto?

I hate the Faces part of most recent iPhoto. How do I eliminate it? The faces are mostly not even of good quality, and it is filling my computer with junk. I just want to have good photos, not play games!

A poster called lopezio claims the following will do the job:
This is how you can disable (turn off) Face detection, without deleting faces found so far (just in case you want to restart processing at another time):
1. Quit iPhoto
2. Open Terminal Application (Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app)
3. Type the following (exactly as is):
defaults write com.apple.iPhoto PKFaceDetectionEnabled 0
(then return)
4. - Start iPhoto - Faces stops getting on your nerves...
If you ever need to re-enable faces, just do the same again and replace the 0 with 1.
I've not tested this so I'd offer a significant warning to back up first and even if it does work then to be wary if you're updating or upgrading as it may have an impact there too.
What definitely works, and safely, is to upgrade to Aperture as that has an option to disable faces. Pay more get more options.

• How do i eliminate yahoo search totally and forever.

I want to eliminate Yahoo resetting itself to be my default search engine. Every time I shut down, Yahoo repositions itself and takes over. The only thing I use Yahoo for is the mail and messenger. I do not use Yahoo search because there is no way I can see that allows control of what history it keeps. I usually use Bing.

Which search engine do you mean?
Is this:
* searching via the location bar (pref: keyword.URL)
* search bar on the Navigation Toolbar
* search bar on the about:home page
* other search bar (e.g. added by extension)
If you do not keep changes after a restart then see:
Try to reset some preferences to the default with the SearchReset extension:
Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the "Firefox > Add-ons" page (about:addons).
If there is a problem with searching via the default about:home page then try to reset the search engine used on the about:home page.
Reset the browser.startup.homepage_override.mstone pref via the right-click context menu to the default on the about:config page and close and restart Firefox to restore the about:home page to its default.
#Open the about:config page via the location bar
#Type in the Filter bar: mstone
#Right-click the browser.startup.homepage_override.mstone line and select: Reset
#Close and restart Firefox
If this didn't help then delete the delete the chromeappsstore.sqlite file in the Firefox Profile Folder and repeat the above.

• How do you eliminate photos from your hardrive?

after trying to move my library i accidentally have created lots of dupes of photos and their thumbnails.
is there a way to clean out dupes and just plain bad photos from the actual harddrive? i worried that i'm using up alot of storage space unnecessarily.
I currently have iphoto 2.0.1

You're going to have to clarify what it is that you've done. You say you were "trying to move your library" which suggests you didn't simply just drag the iPhoto Library folder (in its entirety) to a new location. Using the prescribed method would not have created any duplicates unless you moved it to an external partition (and, it would have immediately been successful).
Where exactly are these duplicates you're trying to eliminate?
