How do I empty my Photo library on my iPod Touch 5th Gen?

Hi! How do I empty my Photo Library on my iPod Touch 5th Gen? It says I have 10.7 GB of photos but I've deleted all photos and videos from all messages, Photo Stream, etc. Accessing it via a laptop and the DCIM folder is also free. Where do I find what's taking up that space and then removing it?

- Backup the iPod and then restore from backup since synced photos are not included in the backup

ICould is forcing songs from my library onto my iPod touch 5th gen, and they can't be deleted or removed. How do I fix this?

I share a library with my parents, and some of their songs are apparently stored in the iCloud. These songs are showing up in the library on my device with the cloud image next to them, giving me the option to download them from the cloud, but they are already on my device. They play when I shuffle through my library, which is something they shouldn't do if I haven't downloaded them, right? I've tried going to the setting and shutting off the show all songs and all that does is show the same songs as of they are downloaded onto my iPod (which they are). I just want these songs off of my device. How would I go about accomplishing this?

Welcome to the Support Communities! If the songs reside on your iPhone, you should be able to delete them per the instructions below. If you see the download icon, you may need to actually download the song before you can actually delete it from your iPhone. Click on the link below for complete details. How can I get autoplay to work again? ipod touch 5th gen, ios7.1.1, windows vista and 7

I've had this ipod for almost a year now and a few months ago my autoplay suddenly stopped working on both my laptop and my desktop. Laptop runs Vista (and is where my ipod is synced) and the desktop is Windoes 7. Since it still syncs fine I've been ignoring the problem but now i've got too many photos and need to make room. I've tied uploading through the dropbox app but there's a LOT of photos so it takes too long and the app crashes often. Even when autoplay would sometimes not work, the ipod would still show up in My Computer. Now there's noting. My computer isn't even recognizing it as a device. Only iTunes still notices it. I've gone through the support FAQ already but none of it works/applies. My ipod recieves a charge and the "Do you wan't to trust this computer?" dalouge shows up when it's unlocked. It sees the competer at the least.
Deleting photos is NOT an option since they have no backup. This also means I'm trying to avoid reseting to factory settings UNLESS the backup of my ipod includes all my photos. I'm not sure if it does or not and there's thousands of photos at risk so I' not making that move unless I know for sure that they're safe.
I would really appreciate any advice anyone has.

Try on another computer. Just do not sync with that computer.

For those of you having issues with dark photo using the camera on the listed devices, try this. I was having exactly the same problem even when there was background lighting and the flash was on. By chance! while playing around with the camera I have found touching the screen on either product improved the poor quality and enhances the contrast and brightness. If backlight is making the object you want to photograph too dark, touch the screen where the object you want to photograph is. It will set the focus and light meter in that area. A white square will show up to show you the area it's focusing and setting the light adjustment on.

You can also do it from your iPod. First you go to your photos then click edit and select all the pictures

I can't. The storage requied for apps varies greatly. Some apps only need/use 10 or so MB. However, some apss need like 5 GB.

Is it possible to add a playlist from my desktop iTunes library to my ipod touch 5th generation. I've tried dragging it but this won't work - it seems that I have to put the playlist in the box and then press autofill which then means the songs in the playlist now become part pf the library on my ipod touch and I have to make up the playlist again on my ipod touch!
With the older ipods it was possible to drag a playlist directly onto them.
Am I missing something?

If you want to be able to just drag playlists or tracks to the iPod from iTunes, you need to turn on manual management in the Summary tab, and my guess is that this is off. Otherwise, set the playlist to sync in the Music tab.

The reason i asked this question is because i have been wondering this a lot ever since i got an exchange on this ipod (and ive only had it for a few weeks now) because my last ipod had a lot of problems. so after i restored my ipod with my computer/itunes, i downloaded apps that i wanted, and then when i went to the storage to see how much storage was left, it said 0 bytes. i was freaking out because i didnt know how that could be, i mean, cause like, that is impossible when i just 'purchased' it, that the space was full but i looked and all my pictures were on this ipod and i already put them on my computer so i dont need them anymore thats why i wanna reset it now so there is nothing on it so i can have more space for stuff to do and download on it.
it is updated to iOS 8 but that happened when i purchased it, so i didnt have a choice to update it even though i didnt want to update to iOS 8...

Hey Sierra, You can do just what you have stated. My question, what is your "other"? If it is over 1.5 GB you most likely have corrupt files. Doing a Restore to New, Factory restore should correct it. Just make sure you make a full backup of all information on your iPod to your computer before you restore, so you don't lose your stuff, contacts, videos, pictures, non-iTunes music, etc, use the cable and connect with your computer. Then, via cable, connect to your computer, run the Restore to new, don't use your backup. Treat this iPod as if it was your first one ever. When restore is done, set up and add what info you wish to install on this iPod. The music apps etc you purchased should be on your computer, if not you should be able to retrieve purchased apps and music from iTunes. Any music, videos, apps not purchased from iTunes will be lost to you if you do not save them to your computer or the cloud first. When your done, make a current Backup and you should good to go. IPod Touch 5th Gen. Music Library is screwed up

I have an iPod Touch 5th Gen. 32 GB that runs on IOS 8.1.2: One of the artists in my iPod library is categorized under two different letters but they are not even in the right order and the list navigator thing on the right with the letters isn't working it just skips from letter A to like letter P, which are also the letters that the artist I just mentioned is falling under. All the other artist in my library are in the right place and when I delete all the songs by that particular artist everything goes back to normal and the navigator starts working again. If anyone has any wisdom on this subject it would be greatly appreciated.

My iPod touch 5th gen won't turn on past the apple logo, do I need to restore to factory settings? If so, is there a way to save my photos?

I've had my iPod touch 5th gen for a little over half a year now, haven't had any issues until now. Yesterday it randomly shut down, and when I try to turn it back on, the apple logo shows up but the iPod just stays on that screen, it doesn't turn on any further. I think I might need to restore it to the factory settings to get it to work again, but I'm concerned that I'm going to lose all my photos. I found the backup folder in my computer but it doesn't have any files in it. I have over 600 pictures on my iPod and I really don't want to lose them all. Is there a way that I can either get my iPod to work again without restoring, or a way that I can extract the photos without the iPod actually being in functioning condition? The computer doesn't recognize the device when it gets connected via the USB. Thanks!

and try making a backup again. If you can't then there is no way of getting the info off the iPod unless data recovery company can do it. Not cheap.

The newest version of iTunes deletes all of my iPod Touch 5th gen audible and visual media when I delete or add music or video to my library and add it to my device manually. Why? I guess the question speaks for itself. I have the latest version of iTunes and iOS 8.2 on my iPod Touch.

If it's any consolation i've just had a similar thing happen. Went to add a playlist and it wiped 35 gig of music off my iPod touch 64g in a nanosecond. I've got the latest iTunes and osx but do not back up because i keep different styles of music (and loads of it) in separate libraries and devices which i don't want mixed together. All my stuff is burned from cd so it's not lost for good and i've got a hard drive with the "lost" mp3 music on it but even so it will take literally weeks to prune the tracks for my iPod to be the same again. Why do they make it so difficult to manage your music on these things. I have massive amounts of music on my computer so autofill is a disastrous unusable gimmick to me. The whole thing seems to be aimed at 9 year old kids with about 6 mp3's on their phone rather than serious music lovers (for example accessing EQ is a joke let alone the lack of a manual option). I'm a dj and use apple for that reason but to be honest i'm beginning to wonder why. I'm absolutely livid. The weird thing is that my mac still shows the titles of the missing tunes in the 'on my device' window but as my macbook storage display shows no increase i'm pretty sure it's all gone. Nightmare. I have no confidence in this device anymore and could barely use the previous osx 8.2 anyway. Why they have to change it every ten minutes is beyond me. As the old saying goes 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' but this format just gets more broken every time they update. An absolute disgrace. Why not just drag and drop or delete. No wonder the iPod is said to be a dying device, it's for music, it is not a phone. Not fit for purpose anymore. I can't be bothered to read a massive 'how to use' article every update. Good technology should be easier and more intuitive with each new version. I suppose i'll have to phone apple at my expense to find out what's going on, or maybe that's the whole idea. Very very very not happy.

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order. The hotness suggests a battery problem
