How do I enable Adobe Reader to Sign documents?

When I open the document the signature functions are displayed but none of the are enabled.

I'm having this issue as well, looking for a digital signature in an existing signature field on a form opened in Reader XI. I am able to sign the field if I open it in Reader X or in Acrobat X Pro, but Reader XI will not allow it.
The form is not Reader-Extended, it does not include submit buttons, and the document properties say that signing form fields is not allowed, unless you open the details where it says that both filling in fields and signing fields IS allowed.
Can you offer any advice on how to make Reader XI recognize the same security as Reader X on the same form?

If I open 2 pdf documents and change the print settings on one of them (say from Portrait to Landscape), the other document's print settings also change to Landscape. Acrobat retains (most) print settings while the program is open, and many though a close.
Scaling, Print as Image, Print to File, Print color as black, Comments & Forms all are retained until changed.
Printer Features (anything set through the Properties tab), all are retained until the program is closed.
Not retained in any case is Page range & copies.

I am trying to distribute an interactive order form to approx. 50 recipients with Acrobat X Standard which I purchased recently. Computer is Windows 7.
I can go through the form editing and distribution as usual, but when I (or a recipient) opens up the distributed form with Adobe Reader, they get the message: “This document enabled extended features in Adobe Reader. The document has been changed and use of extended features is no longer available. Please contact the author for the original version of this document.”
Oddly enough, sometimes is does work, but 90% of the time it doesn’t.
And I have another, older XP computer with Acrobat X installed, and it works fine 100% of the time – weird....can anyone help?

I actually saw a solution to this earlier today. To disable PDF viewing in safari, first quit safari, then open terminal, and type in this command:
defaults write com.apple.Safari WebKitOmitPDFSupport -bool YES
To re-enable PDF viewing in safari simply open the terminal, and change the "YES" in the command above to a "NO"

It isn't signing in. I hope someone can explain this better than me but it goes something like this.
To sign you make a certificate. Either you buy the certificate from a trusted source, or you make a special public certificate, and send that to all your contacts. This sending is special - you can't just email it, because it could be a fake. People need to know it's real, perhaps by arrangement.
Anyway, people are now set to look at a PDF which says YOU signed it. They can check if the certificate you used matches the public certificate you sent. If it does, the file is unaltered. If it doesn't it is a fake. Plus, there is a third case - it might be your real signature then someone changed the PDF. But thanks to the certificate, when you validate you are told about that too.
Certificates, the law, signing and that area are complex, and you need to understand before you start. It's easy to make worthless signed documents.
By the way, I've no idea if any of this clever stuff works on iOS!!

The instructions on the Adobe site are outdated and do no longer apply to current Firefox versions and you can ignore those instructions and save the Adobe installer to your desktop and start the installation with a double-click on that file.

and then launch installer by double click on exe.
You will see 3 buttons on Install UI and the first button is "Change Destination Folder"
By clicking on it, you can change the install location.

I don't know if this will work; it will certainly not create a "portable" Adobe Reader.
But it may install on the flash driver, to be used only on the computer that installed it.

On the Reader setup panel, click on 'Change Destination Folder' and select your flash drive.

CutePDFWriter is a third-party application, which Adobe doesn't provide support for. But, I did find the following on their website:
"Requires PS2PDF converter such as Ghostscript (recommended).
You can get the free GPL Ghostscript 8.15."

So, it looks like it creates a PostScript file for you, but then you need additional software to convert the PostScript file to PDF.
