How do I enable iPhoto to open when my Droid Razr M is connected?

I want to download pics and vids to iPhoto when I connect my phone, but nothing happens when I connect it!

Contact Googe - what action do you have set in the iPhoto preferences when a camera is connected? If it launch iPhoto then you need Google to tell you how to make your phone look like a camera - as long as it looks like a camera then iPhoto will do what it is designed to do

How do I stop Iphoto from opening when I plug in my Iphone?

Having the preference in iPhoto makes perfect sense to me.  After all, iPhoto is the application that opens.  You would expect that is where you should provide some guidance not to open.
What puzzles me much more is why you would post this comment more than 18 months after wjosten answered the original question.

  • How can i prevent iphoto from opening when i plug in my iphone to the computer?

    Hi There,
I have  a question, when I connect my iPhone to the computer the iPhoto automatically opens.
how can i prevent this from happening? it always slows down my computer.
    any help will be appreciated.
    thanks

Image Capture (in your Applications Folder) - In the preferences you can decide to 'Do Nothing' when a camera is connected.
Some versions also have this option in the iPhoto Preferences.

In iphoto go to preferences > general and al the bottom will be a drop down menu that will say connecting camera opens: just change this from iphoto to no application

How do i prevent tunes from opening when i plug in my ipod?

This will occur when there are photos and/or videos in the Camera Roll, which should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera.
Depending on the iPhoto version you are running, this can be done via iPhoto preferences > connected camera opens > select no application.

  • Prevent iPhoto from opening when iPhone is connected?

Does anyone know if there is a way to keep iPhoto from opening when my iPhone is connect BUT do the opposite when my digital still cam is connected? I like having iPhone auto-launch for my canon cam, but not when I connect the iPhone.

I believe I've come across an article by someone who set up a script to run when a camera is connected, and the script detects what kind of camera and then launches or not launches iPhoto as desired. Yeah, here it goes:

Seems overkill to me---I find it easy enough to manually launch iPhoto when I connect a camera, but hey, to each their own.

  • How do I prevent Mail from opening when I click an email address in Safari?

My wife and I both use Yahoo! Mail. Neither of us uses the Mail app to manage our email. How do I prevent Mail from opening when we click an email address in Safari?  Is it possible to direct Safari to open a separate web browser prompting us to log in to our Yahoo! Mail?

    Hmm.. probably not.
You want to open Mail. Then go into Preferences > General and you will see something similar to this:
In the area marked Default Mail reader click on the pull down and at the bottom of the list it will say Other. You can see if you can select Safari here and if that will open up Safari.
    Good luck.

  • Itunes doesn't open when my ipod touch 4g is connected, consequently it won't charge or sync

itunes doesn't open when my ipod touch 4g is connected, consequently it won't charge or sync

I was surprised too, but I guess nobody gave a cr*p. I figured it out on my own. Basically, sync, then uncheck the box for the option to open iTunes when that iPod is hooked up, sync again, then check the box, and sync one last time. A dialog box pops up that asks if it's OK to install "iTunes Helper". Say "yes". Now it works.

  • How can I keep iPhoto from opening?

I'm currently using iPhoto v5.0.4 and Panther 10.3.9, and am fairly new to both. My question is how can I get iPhoto to stop automatically opening and loading my photos into it when I insert my memory stick into the card reader attached to my Mac mini via USB? I want to just load the photos onto my HD, and not into iPhoto.
I've looked at the iPhoto preferences and can't find anything to turn off the automatic opening up of the application.
If I can't stop if from doing that, how can I copy the photos in iPhoto to a separate file on the HD?
    Thanks,
    Esther

Oh wow! Worked like a charm. I never would have figured that out. Thanks!
If you have time, could I ask you another question? If I've gotten the photos onto my HD, and decide I want to copy them into iPhoto so I'll have them in both places, how do I do that?
    Thanks,
    Esther

  • How can I stop iPhoto from opening everytime...

    OMG this is maddening.
    I am a photograher.
I shoot tethered to a MBP in lightroom through a Canon 5D Mark III; I recently upgraded to YOSEMITE.
Every lovingtime I plug the camera in to the MBP, IPHOTO starts, reads the contents of my 16GB card which of course takes time, during a photoshoot, and then want to import 500+ images- I of course cancel or close the window down. But in the event I have to reconnect the camera or restart something- I get the annoying  IPHOTO program doing the same ^&$&^% again.....it does it on my MAC MINI in my office when I bring the images home for editing...
The fact that the iphoto window is buried under another window and I can't &^%&^*$  figure out what is holding up my work flow while still looking composed in front of clients is MADDENING.
THIS IS CRAZY,,, How can I stop it

There are two places you can set iPhoto to not open when a camera is connected:
    1 - iPhoto's General preference pane:
2 - (if iPhoto continues to open after #1) - with the camera connected to your Mac launch Image Capture and in the lower left hand corner of the widow set No Application in the dropdown menu provided:

  • How can I prevent iPhoto from launching when I insert an SD card

I recently upgraded to a new iMac retina and am having trouble disabling iPhoto from launching when an SD card is inserted.
I have gone to iPhoto setting and disabled iPhoto from launching when a camera is connected.
I have also gone into image capture and selected no application as the hidden option for SD card actions when inserted.
Unfortunately the issue persists... two questions: can I do a terminal level disable to prevent iPhoto from launching or can I remove iPhoto from my computer?

    Have you tried this?
    Open the Image Capture app
    Select your SD Card
Click the little widget in the bottom right corner of the window
Select the program to launch, or "No application"
    it worked for me

  • How do I enable the Move Option When Importing (It's Greyed Out)

    Bonjour,
I am trying to figure out why Aperture 2 does not ask to delete photos from camera (Canon SD950 IS) after import or why the "move" option is 'greyed' out. I have searched the forums here and have only seen people offer advice why this is not good. Not to be an A##, but I don't want advice. I need an answer to my question. How do I enable this functionality? I know that it is technically possible as the simple app "Image Capture" that comes with Leopard does exactly this.(Imports then Deletes from my camera) It's just that Aperture cost too much money in my opinion to force one to use an external app to do what you want done, especially since it is not a difficult function to perform as evidenced by aforementioned app in Leopard. TIA.
Hardware: 17' Glossy HiRes Mac Book Pro 3.1 Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 Ghz 4GB Ram
OS: Mac OS X 10.5.3 All updates applied
    App: Aperture 2.1
    A bientot,
    William.

Please don't take the following as a flame...
<quote>The move option is grayed out when importing from a card to save you from yourself. At least that's what I've always assumed.</quote>
That's a bit draconian don't you think? Why have the option greyed out if you don't want the user to be able to do this. It's kind of like saying hahah, this is possible to do, but, you, the user, are a moron. Why even place the option on the page in the first place.
<quote>It just happens to be a bug that few on this forum care to see fixed because most of us feel that using it is unwise due to the danger of lost images and corrupted cards.</quote>
Again, why put it on page as an option if it weren't intended to be enabled in a plist somewhere for those who wish to be 'unwise.'
My logic is as follows: If Apple provides software that is more accessible to the 'unwashed masses' (because it's included with Leopard ie. Image Capture) and it deletes images directly from the camera, then why would a professional package (Aperture) limit the so called 'professional' from designing and using his/her own workflow governed by their own experience. Which could include first a backup to dvd or other device of your choice (keyword here: CHOICE) THEN import images and delete directly from the camera. Logically this is completely BACKWARDS, the app available to the 'masses'(Image Capture) should NOT let the user delete images directly from the camera and the 'professional' app (Aperture) should allow more flexibility for the advanced user who understands the implications of his/her work flow and adjusts accordingly.
Besides, And I quote myself "I have searched the forums here and have only seen people offer advice why this is not good. Not to be an A##, but I don't want advice. I need an answer to my question. How do I enable this functionality?"
Therefore, respectfully, your answer is: non sequitur.
    Best Regards
