How do I enable keep-alive on HP Officejet Pro 8600?

Unfortunately, no. I have a static IP address assigned to the printer yet it still doesn't always "wake" when printing to it.

I think the issue here has not been resolved, and wont be by info like that.  What actually happens with this printer (and software is fully updated on mine) is that after the printer goes to sleep, it drops your network connection completely.  I have tested both ethernet and wireless, and it has the exact same issue both ways. The lights on the LED display show that it is still connected, and in fact if yo go into settings to view, it still has whatever IP address you gave it or dhcp gave it, same hostname, etc.  But printing is N/A, web config is N/A from your PC (tried Win 7, Win XP, Fedora, Ubuntu) so for all purposes, then printer is OFFLINE but still appears on the printer itself as if it's online. 2 ways to get it back - a) reboot, or b) disconnect/reconnect network connectivity type.  I've gone through all settings and can't see anything relating to keeping the printer on the network even in sleep mode.   My question is this HP - what good is a network/wireless/eprint printer that won't stay connected to the internet/network?  If I have to go stuff around with it each time I want o print, i'm gonna get real pissed real soon.  This printer has fantastic features, but this is the most annoying problem a network printer can have!

How do I attach a wireless scanner (HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus) to Acrobat XI Pro?

The printer status report has in line 47 the date (rounded to the week) the printhead was installed.  Except in the rare case the printhead has been replaced this would correspond to the date the printer was installed.

  • Can;t enable web service on HP Officejet Pro 8600 N911a

HP Officejet Pro 8600 N911a we have installed this printer as a network printer.  Everything works fine except that I cannot enable the Web service to EPrint or scan to an email.  It says the printer cannot access the internet.

Hello. First power cycle the printer, and the router to see if that will clear up the error message. To do that unplug the router then power down the printer using the power button. Then plug the router back in and once it is back up an running, turn on the printer and try to reconnect to web services
Then, if still unable to connect, I would set a static DNS on the printer. To set a static DNS you must access the embedded web server (EWS). You do that by entering the IP address for the printer into the address bar of the browser of your choice.
Once it brings up your Officejet's EWS, locate the tab that is labeled “Network”. From there look in the left column on the new page that will pop up and select IPv4, wired or wireless will depend on how the printer is connected to the network. That will bring up the page to set the Static DNS. It will be the 2nd portion of that page.
Set the radial dial to manual. Then, for the Manual preferred/Primary DNS, set it to 8.8.8.8 and the Manual Alternative/Secondary to 8.8.4.4; then click apply.
NOTE: if another message with an option to click “OK” appears, read that message carefully. Most of the time it is an option to undo the change you just did and you will want to avoid clicking that message. Just navigate away from that page by clicking on another tab.
Power cycle the printer. Once printer is back up and through with calibrations from being turned off and on. Reattempt to connect to web services by touching the icon.

  • How do I print grayscale with an HP Officejet Pro 8600?

I have an "HP Officejet Pro 8600 Pro e-All-in-One" printer. Can I print grayscale or black and white with it?
I'm running OS X 10.8.2 Mountain Lion. In System Preferences for Print & Scan, I chose the driver called "HP Officejet Pro 8600" (rather than the default of "AirPrint"). In the print dialog box, under "Color Matching", I select "ColorSync" rather than "Vendor Matching" and get a list of seven ColorSync profiles as shown below, none of which are grayscale or black and white.
Am I simply out of luck because HP hasn't provided the necessary feature?

With the most recent batch of printer drivers, the vendors have provided their own grayscale setting rather than creating a ICC profile and adding it to the ColorSync library. So if you set Color Matching back to Vendor and then change from the Color Matching menu to one of the HP menus, maybe there is a Grayscale option available this way.
With reference to my Canon MP990, I don't use HP so don't know the menu names, I have a Quality menu and within here is the Grayscale setting.

  • How do you wake up a sleeping HP Officejet Pro 8600 wireless printer?

The printer appears to be in sleep mode, with the power button alternating between dim and bright. Printer does not function and pressing the power button does nothing. The only remedy I have found is to unplug the power cord and restart the printer. Is it broken or is there a trick to waking this thing up?

on your printer's settings, please make sure that Schedule setting is set to OFF. If it is, your printer should wake up as soon as you touch the screen or the arrow touch buttons.

  • I cannot "scan to computer" with my HP Officejet Pro 8600 N911g ) - The option has been enabled

I cannot "Scan to Computer" with my HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 N911g - The option has been enable in the HP Utility - but I receive a communication error message  - I'm connected to the computer using a Linksys Wireless Router and I am using OS X 10.5.8 - I can print wirelesly and I can use Web Scan, so the connection is good.
How do I resolve the issue?

    petergole,
To make sure we aren't dealing with a software problem lets try to uninstall with the 'scrubber option' like this:
    1. Go to Applications/Hewlett Packard/ click on HP Uninstaller and click Continue
    2. Highlight your device on the left pane
    3. Hold the Ctrl, Opt and Cmd keys and click on Uninstall
    4. There will be a pop up that asks if you are sure you want to uninstall ALL hp software. (At this point, if you continue, any HP printers you have installed will need to be reinstalled)
    5. Click Continue and let it finish
Now, run a Software Update. This can be done by clicking the Apple in the top left of the screen then clicking Software Updates.
Next, let's reset the printing system:
Go to System Preferences > Print & Scan
    - Right (or control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
    - Select the plus sign to re-add a printer. Select the Default tab on the top of the window. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.
Finally, use this guide to reinstall: http://goo.gl/Na4Qm

  • How do I print as a "reverse or mirror image" on the HP Officejet Pro 8600 model # N911a

How do I  print as a "reverse or mirror image" on the HP Officejet Pro 8600 model # N911a

I have spent hours figuring out how to print a t-shirt transfer since my new HP printer doesn't seem to allow for mirror image printing (yet my old HP printer easily let me select this feature).   Here's what worked for me, using Word 2010:
Create the text and insert any images  into the document as you normally would.
Go to Insert / WordArt and chose a style of lettering (I don’t think it matters what you choose since you will be cutting and pasting the data from 1 above).   A text box will appear and a new "double-decker" tab will appear at the right (Drawing Tools on top and Format below).
Copy what you created in step 1 and paste it into the text box.
Click on the Format tab (the cursor must be inside the text box for the Format tab to be visible).
Choose Text Effects / 3-D Options and then 3-D Rotation Options.  A dialogue box will open.  For the X value, enter 180.  Do not enter anything for the other values.  Your image should have rotated to mirror image.
Click Close and save your document.
You should now be able to print your document as usual.
    Good luck!

  • How to print on envelopes C6/C5 with HP OfficeJet Pro 8600

With my printer HP Officejet Pro 8600 I want to print on envelopes C6/C5 (229 mm x 114mm or 9.0 inches x 4.5 inches).
The Officejet Pro 8600 support C5-envelopes and C6-envelopes but I could not find a comparable format C6/C5. Is it possible to make your own envelopes format and print on HP Officejet Pro 8600?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Grepolis,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you would like to be able to print on  C6/C5 envelopes.
I will be happy to help you.
You could install the Deskjet 9800 as a generic driver which you would have different features available to you.
    Making custom size prints.
Depending what operating system you are using. Here are the steps for Windows 7.
On the computer, go to start, devices and printers, select add printer.
Follow the steps, select HP and Deskjet 9800 from the list.
Set this one as the default printer.
Try creating a custom size envelope now with the generic driver.
Please let me know if you are not using Windows 7 and you need different steps.

  • Has anyone figured out how to scan from an HP officejet Pro 8600 after upgrading to OS 10.9.4

Has anyone figured out how to scan to  a MacBook Pro with 10.9.4 from HP officejet Pro 8600?

iMovie acts as it does, I suspect, because it's so much safer (and easier) to program.
As iMovie is now structured, each clip has a startFrame and an endFrame. They show the starting point and ending point of that clip in its source file. There's only one of each. Simple.
For us to remove a portion of the middle without splitting the clip in two, iMovie would have to allow each clip to have multiple start/end points. So iMovie would have to "remember" that the clip starts playing at frame 100, stops at frame 120, starts again at frame 150, stops at frame 200, and so on. Very complicated.
The amount of data that would be required to undo a change, for example, could become quite large, and be very, very complicated. Lots of opportunity for errors. Imagine what iMovie would have to "remember" if we could remove the middle, added a title to the clip, remove part of the title, then split the clip and applied a slow motion effect to the second part of the split.
This way is simpler, and not all that inconvenient for users, in my opinion. I prefer simple when it adds to reliability.

  • HT4356 I have two printers on my network.  Does anyone know how to change the printer nomenclature - Officejet Pro 8600  (0B54AF) to a recognizable name...like Brad's Office?

I have two printers on my network.  Does anyone know how to change the printer nomenclature - Officejet Pro 8600  (0B54AF) to a recognizable name...like Brad's Office when you use Airprint?

You would have to change that in the printer's settings on the printer, if that option is offered by the manufacturer. The iPhone just finds printers on the network and uses the name they have given themselves or that were given to them when they were set up.

  • How do I tak out the ink cartridge on HP Officejet Pro 8600?

Need to remove my ink cartridge to buy a set backup.  How do you remove the old cartridge?

The HP Office Pro 8600 series consists of 3 model variations. I have the Plus version. All functions similiar.
With the power 'ON', grip the side of the front panel (left handed) just below the HP logo. The entire panel will swing down. The ink cartridge bay will move from the right to the left. Push on the cartridge, and it will pop-out.
Manual, see pg 13 and 92.    WARNING per HP:    Never turn off the printer when ink cartridges are missing.
