How do I enable plugins during Private Browsing sessions?

I sometimes use Private Browsing. However, I noticed that when Private Browsing is enabled, plugins are disabled. I assume this is because some of the plugins maintain personal data, so Firefox cannot guarantee that the plugins will not store personal data during the Private Browsing session.
Still, I want to enable plugins during Private Browsing and I accept the risks involved. But I have not yet figured out how to enable plugins during Private Browsing.

Or, are you talking about certain '''''extensions''''' or their features being disabled??
That shouldn't happen either, unless a particular extension uses or extends the features in Firefox that are disabled in Private Browsing mode. I imagine that an extension that deals with Passwords, any type of History ''(like Download List, Forms, or Search)'', visited pages ''(browsing history)'', the Cache, or Cookies isn't going to work as it would in the "normal browsing" mode.

Try putting the "SCGIMount /RPC2 127.0.0.1:5000" line in your httpd.conf file right after the LoadModule lines (it's line 124 for me).
I seem to recall it not working when I put it at the end of the file.

OK, if I'm in a private browsing session and completely close FF (without first ending private browsing), the next time that I start it, the tabs that were open prior to starting private browsing are restored. I have it set to open my home page (yahoo) when starting Firefox.
How do I change this?

It sounds as though Firefox is treating it as a "crash" when you don't return to non-private browsing before shutting down. I don't know whether there is a way to change that: nothing in the browser.sessionstore.* preferences jumps out at me as controlling that behavior.

Please note that cookies '''are '''created during a private browsing session. However, they are deleted once the session is ended or when you exit Firefox application.
Also note that other applications on your computer might be tracking which sites you visit (firewall, antivirus etc). They will still be able to collect your browsing related data even if you have activated private browsing in Firefox.

I encountered the same problem in my iPhone 4S. You can try this. Remove the plugins that you have installed, sync your iPhone, and then restart. You'll be able to watch vedios using safari.

Accepting cookies during private browsing

According to Danish internet legislation, you are always prompted to accept or decline cookies whenever you visit a website. These cookies may be from the website itself, or they may be third party cookies.
Normally my Firefox browser is set to 'Never remember history' in the privacy options, but what happens if I accept cookies from a website during private browsing, or simply with the privacy options set to 'Never remember history' ?

Yes. Cookie exceptions should work in Private Browsing mode just like in normal mode and you should be able to create an allow or block exception that persists.
You can inspect and manage permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab via these steps:
*Click the "[[Site Identity Button|Site Identity Button]]" (globe/padlock) on the location/address bar
*Click "More Information" to open "Tools > Page Info" with the Security tab selected
*Go to the Permissions tab (Tools > Page Info > Permissions) to check the permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab
Note that you won't be able to view (inspect) cookies in the Cookie Manager while in PB mode.

How to change language during a browsing session

Hi everybody,
We need an implementation where a user can log in with a guestuser (which is shared with different real persons).
So we have user "Guest1" being used by x number of persons.
During their browsing session there persons need to be able to switch the language of the portal between English, French and Dutch WITHOUT changing the language attribute of the portal user "Guest1" in the UME.
Does anybody know how we can achieve this?
I already thought about changing the browser language using javascript but I cant find a way to do this...
(tried navigator.userLanguage = "EN" but this gives me nothing)

After Firefox crashes, how do I restore a Private Browsing Session, or the tabs?

Windows XP, Ser. Pk. #3, FF Ver. 20.0.1, I think that's all of the information that would be needed . . . if not, just ask me for anything else that you need. I'm going to refrain from restarting FF, or shutting down my computer until someone replies. Hopefully that'll help. I haven't restarted my computer or FF either since the crash. But here's what happened. I was browsing, clicked on a link, and the page was loading. Then both the reg. FF window, and the Private Browsing Session window closed. Then, the box asking what you want done, because FF crashed window appeared. I chose to send all of my information to FF, the web URLs, along with my email address, [email protected], to FF, and chose the restart FF option. The main FF window appeared with the white page, and the option to disable any previous tabs in case they're the reason FF crashed with the restart previous session, or start new one. I chose to restart the previous session. My main stuff all restarted, but the private browsing window, and tabs did not. I'm hoping there's a back door way, or some other way to get into the FF files and restore that private browsing session. Perhaps there's a way to at least get access to the URLs. That's all that I really need. I'm not going to restart anything as I said above, and I'm hoping that someone will be able to help me out. Thank you in advance.

I suspect that Firefox doesn't store session history for private windows, but you could try rescuing all the sessionstore files in your currently active personal settings folder (also known as your Firefox profile folder) just in case.
Help > Troubleshooting Information > "Show Folder" button
That should take you to the critical folder. Try copying all sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak files to a different location (e.g., Documents) where there's no danger of Firefox overwriting them.
If you check the timestamps, can you tell which one has the best chance of having your old windows and tabs? Open that one in a text editor. You may need to turn on text wrapping. If you can remember any text from the URL or title of the page you were viewing, try searching in the text to see whether you can find it. If not, the quest may be futile.

After quitting a "private browsing" session, and I quit togo back to previously open tabs/pinned sites, 40% of the time, the Browser does not restore all previously open tabs/pinned apps/sites

Using HP Pavilion Dv7 with Windows Home Premium, 64bit, and only now and then will FF4.0.1 restore previous (normal) session after returning from a private browsing session, )I use the Quit Private Browsing menu item from the Toolbar right-click menu to go back).... In addition, previously Pinned sites (apps) are lost also, and all must be re-added.
Inconsistent failure and I've not been able to reliably reproduce-- sometimes (about 4-6 times in 10) it just loses all previous information.

I would add that bookmarks may be organised into folders and subfolders. You may wish to make more use of bookmarks if only to ensure you do not loose everything if your session restore becomes problematic.
Bookmarks are a bit more robust than the session restore system. Firefox backs them up automatically and you may do so manually. Possibly Firefox will behave better and faster with hundreds of bookmarks but only tens of tabs open. There is also the tabs groups, but that is something I think development has ceased on and may have similar issues to session restore / or open tabs.

Two Firefox Private Browsing sessions are sharing data.

I launched Private Browsing Firefox session & logged in to gmail then, I launch another Private Browsing Firefox session. This time, again I visit gmail.com & I got logged in to my gmail inbox without authentication even though I am in two different Private Browsing sessions. Then, again, I launched 3rd Private Browsing Firefox session, this time I visit google.com & I can see my gmail ID on right hand top corner.
I have opted “Automatically start Firefox in Private Browsing” as I don’t want to let google search keep my search history.
It seems like Firefox do share cookies & other data in Private Browsing sessions. So how these sessions can be called Private Browsing if they are sharing data?
Note: I have tried “Start Private Browsing” manual command as well but found no difference in behavior.

Dump firefox and use the File->New Session option in Microsoft's IE browser. I am a software developer and from my personal experience I can say that firefox sucks, and is the least secure browser out there.

Attempting to do private browsing session froze Firefox, then won't restore one of the 2 windows I had open (with multiple tabs in each). Only 1 window is able to be restored now.

I then attempted to do private browsing session, but then a pop-up box appeared asking me something about a script (related to private browsing). This froze Firefox. So I had to close Firefox using ctrl-alt-del. I tried to re-open Firefox, but only one of the windows will restore now (with the tabs that were previously open). I clicked on "History" in the menu bar and the "Recently Closed Windows" phrase is grayed out. Is there a way to go about restoring this window? I considered doing a restore to 3 days ago in my History tab, but I am worried that this will erase all the bookmarks I've made in the past 3 days. I've also considered going manually into history and trying to forage through each, but many of these tabs have been open for about a 3-4 weeks now as I've been keeping them all open for research. So they would be buried under hundreds-thousands of other pages. (I've done a lot of browsing). Should I just call it a loss? I appreciate any help.

I removed add-on BetterPrivacy. No problems since then anymore.

There are services that will encrypt all of your web browsing so that intermediate computers and firewalls don't know what you're doing. (However, this will not fool a company proxy server.)
At this point, lots of secure traffic from your PC would look ''very'' suspicious. If your job is important to you, you probably should do your NSFW browsing from outside the company network.
