How do I encode DNxHD at 1080p/59? seems like ONLY 1080i/59 supported...help

Help; Avid DNxHD 145 Codec appears to only have 1080i/59.94 - my original footage is 1080p/59.94.
I tried playing with the codec settings but seems missing 1080p/59.94
(gh3 panasonic camera)
any Suggestions.

Averdahl wrote:

Yes, I am using PP CC and AME CC on Win 7 Pro 64.
@pointbob, sorry I didn't think to ask which version of PP/AME you are running as it does make a difference. As Averdahl said only the CC version of AME has DNxHD bundled in it. I am able to transcode my native AVCHD 59.94 media to DNxHD 59.94 smoothly with no issues at all either going directly through AME or going through PL>AME.
The only thing I don't like is the very large file sizes it produces compared to the native AVHD.

    If you are using AIA, then you will have MDS deployment scripts. Check this link for details - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23549_01/doc.1111/e17361/ch18.htm#BABGHIGG
    If not AIA, then you need to build custom ant scripts which will use the api "com.soamds.util.MdsImportTask" for mds deploy and "com.soamds.util.MdsDeleteTask" for mds undeploy.
    Hope this helps.

  • Premiere CS3: How can you encode xml cue point data in the chapter section of a marker for FlashVid?

    Hi there,
    I'm a total newb to this forum, so hello adobe premiere community! I'm perplexed by Adobes documentation on Premiere (and I'm sure I'm not the first ) anyway on the live documents page below:
    http://livedocs.adobe.com/en_US/PremierePro/3.0/help.html?content=WS9390BED7-9466-46ea-A0E A-3240F1AFC36C.html
    it states that:
    “The cue point data in the Chapter field of a sequence marker in Adobe Premiere Pro will be encoded as Flash XML. For the XML protocol required, see Flash Help.”
    Which is great…except this information doesn’t exist seemingly in either the Premiere documentation or Flash either for that matter, but as I’m interested in working with the chapter/marker area in Premiere – should I really be told to go off and search the documentation for another application, probably not!  What would have been useful would have been a code snippet saying you do it like this, but of course, that would make things too easy!
    Basically, I understand that in After FX you can add Flash marker information specifically for interpretation when exporting to Flash Video (i.e. name, type and parameters etc) and it suggests that you can do the same above in Premiere CS3 using some kind of concatenated string in the chapter area…it just doesn’t tell you how anywhere seemingly – WHY ADOBE!
    Currently when I export markers as cue points based on the advice in the page above, anything I put in the chapter section to force Premiere to create a cue point is converted to a string, which becomes the cue point ‘name’.
    This cue point name is then automatically appended to the ‘time’ the marker was inserted at and is always encoded as type ‘navigation’, with no obvious means of adding ‘parameters’ into the equation.
    So (finally) does anyone know if you can insert this information into the chapter area for correct interpretation by flash (i.e. thus allowing you to choose between either 'navigation' or 'event' types, and pass as many 'parameters' as you wish etc) or are you just limited to supplying a name, and it being automatically set to the navigation type with no parameters?
    I’m sorry for this long essay but at least the issue is well defined for you to answer, honestly any help you can provide what so ever would really be most appreciated!
    Best regards,
    Kat
    PS – I have utterly no knowledge of XML either just in case you were wondering – and my only interest in XML is getting this basic information encoded into the FLV file from Premiere Pro CS3! Please help, pretty please with daisy’s!!!

    Hi dradeke,
    Thanks for your reply, which is indeed useful as clearly Adobe have made this task easier and less obscure in CS4 by adding simple interface functionality, however I'm stuck with using CS3 for the moment.  Its not majorly a problem as the video material in question can be exported uncompressed then setup with cue points using the Flash encoder as an alternative (i.e. or even After FX CS3 also) which both provide the same features as Premiere CS4 seemingly. It is just that it would be much easier to be able to drop in simple markers whilst working with Premiere CS3, as this is what we are going to be using primarily, I just wondered if anyone knew how to invoke this in CS3 - its possible you can't, the documentation is vague at best!
    However I really appreciate your response and help, thanks

  • How to detect encoding file in ANSI, UTF8 and UTF8 without BOM

    Hi all,
    I am having a problem with detecting a .txt/.csv file encoding. I need to detect a file in ANSI, UTF8 and UTF8 without BOM but the problem is the encoding of ANSI and UTF8 without BOM are the same. I checked the function below and saw that ANSI and UTF8
    without BOM have the same encoding. so, How can I detect UTF8 without BOM encoding file? because I need to handle for this case in my code.
    Thanks.
    public Encoding GetFileEncoding(string srcFile)
                // *** Use Default of Encoding.Default (Ansi CodePage)
                Encoding enc = Encoding.Default;
                // *** Detect byte order mark if any - otherwise assume default
                byte[] buffer = new byte[10];
                FileStream file = new FileStream(srcFile, FileMode.Open);
                file.Read(buffer, 0, 10);
                file.Close();
                if (buffer[0] == 0xef && buffer[1] == 0xbb && buffer[2] == 0xbf)
                    enc = Encoding.UTF8;
                else if (buffer[0] == 0xfe && buffer[1] == 0xff)
                    enc = Encoding.Unicode;
                else if (buffer[0] == 0 && buffer[1] == 0 && buffer[2] == 0xfe && buffer[3] == 0xff)
                    enc = Encoding.UTF32;
                else if (buffer[0] == 0x2b && buffer[1] == 0x2f && buffer[2] == 0x76)
                    enc = Encoding.UTF7;
                else if (buffer[0] == 0xFE && buffer[1] == 0xFF)
                    // 1201 unicodeFFFE Unicode (Big-Endian)
                    enc = Encoding.GetEncoding(1201);
                else if (buffer[0] == 0xFF && buffer[1] == 0xFE)
                    // 1200 utf-16 Unicode
                    enc = Encoding.GetEncoding(1200);
                return enc;

    what you want is to get the encoding utf-8 without bom which can only be detected if the file has special characters, so do the following:
    public Encoding GetFileEncoding(string srcFile)
                // *** Use Default of Encoding.Default (Ansi CodePage)
                Encoding enc = Encoding.Default;
                // *** Detect byte order mark if any - otherwise assume default
                byte[] buffer = new byte[10];
                FileStream file = new FileStream(srcFile, FileMode.Open);
                file.Read(buffer, 0, 10);
                file.Close();
                if (buffer[0] == 0xef && buffer[1] == 0xbb && buffer[2]
    == 0xbf)
                    enc = Encoding.UTF8;
                else if (buffer[0] == 0xfe && buffer[1] == 0xff)
                    enc = Encoding.Unicode;
                else if (buffer[0] == 0 && buffer[1] == 0 && buffer[2]
    == 0xfe && buffer[3] == 0xff)
                    enc = Encoding.UTF32;
                else if (buffer[0] == 0x2b && buffer[1] == 0x2f &&
    buffer[2] == 0x76)
                    enc = Encoding.UTF7;
                else if (buffer[0] == 0xFE && buffer[1] == 0xFF)
                    // 1201 unicodeFFFE Unicode (Big-Endian)
                    enc = Encoding.GetEncoding(1201);
                else if (buffer[0] == 0xFF && buffer[1] == 0xFE)
                    // 1200 utf-16 Unicode
                    enc = Encoding.GetEncoding(1200);
               else if (validatUtf8whitBOM(srcFile))
                    enc = UTF8Encoding(false);
                return enc;
    private bool validateUtf8whitBOM(string FileSource)
                bool bReturn = false;
                string TextUTF8 = "", TextANSI = "";
                //lread the file as utf8

               TextANSI  = srFileWhitBOM .ReadToEnd();

    How To: Get encoding of a remote file
    Java EE
    URL url = new URL ("http://www.someSite.com/myCsvFile.csv"); // comma separated
    InputStream is = url.openConnection().getInputStream();
    InputStreamReader reader = new InputStreamReader(is);
    System.out.println("reader.getEncoding(): " + reader.getEncoding());
    For both an ISO-8859-1 file and a UTF-8 file I get the following print out:
    reader.getEncoding(): Cp1252
    Could it have something to do with this warning during boot the .war?
    [WARNING] Using platform encoding (Cp1252 actually) to copy filtered resources, i.e. build is platform dependent!
    If I use local files it prints ISO8859_1 for one of the files.

    All of that is because the HTTP server attaches a charset to every response. That's what you are seeing. The server may be using some logic to determine the actual encoding of the file it returns, or it may simply be using a hard-coded charset which may or may not be suitable for reading the file. The latter is unfortunately more likely.
    By the way if you receive an XML file over HTTP, and the HTTP charset differs from the encoding declared in the XML document, there's a rule which says the HTTP charset takes precedence. (I don't know where that rule is documented, but I have encountered that situation in real life -- the data came from a Google application -- and that rule was indeed the right thing to do.)
    If you're still under the impression that there's something which can look at a file and determine what encoding was used to produce it, let me tell you that there isn't. Sure, there's that XML prolog thing which works for XML files (if they weren't botched by the producer), but for text files in general there's no way to determine their encoding. Short of asking the person who created them, that is.

  • How to export using DNxHD

    I've seen many recommendations to use DNxHD for editing purposes.
    However, being new to PrPro, I don't know how to export to DNxHD. In the Export Settings window, what option(s) should I choose from the Format drop-down list?

    1. You need to familiarise yourself with the interface. See e.g. this help section.
    2. Proxy is usually a lower resolution or a lower bitrate footage, with which you temporarily substitute a source footage. Speaking in general terms, PrPro creates proxies under the hood when and editor chooses to render a timeline preview.
    Currently PrPro has some flaws in proxies workflow (e.g. it's impossible to relink a video file to an image sequence). Unlike PrPro, After Effects has a nice Placeholders and Proxies workflow, and some time ago I even posted a feature request proposal to introduce similar workflow in PrPro. Fortunately Adobe seems realised that proxy workflow doesn't harm native editing and is about to introduce some enhancement in the upcoming October release.
    3. Motion check is a check on your story telling (whether you cut your timeline properly, whether motion graphics elements are animated properly etc.), within which details precision is not crucial.
