How do I enlarge font in toolbars?

I have a visiion problem and suddenly all the font  toolbars and icons decreased.  There used to be a plae in System Prefs called Appearance where I could change it but it is not there now. I downloaded  a Safari updaate recently....is this what caused the change?  I am desperate to get this font enlarged.  Thanks for your help.

Well, oldster, I'm 72 1/2, so using the Terminal is relatively simple.
Launch Text edit, copy & paste in these four separate commands, substitute the font name and size you want to use, including the single quote marks so fonts with spaces in their names work. Then, quit Safari, launch the Terminal app in Utilities, copy & paste, each of these from TextEdit into the window that pops up, following each with hitting the return key, and then quit the Terminal app.
defaults write com.apple.Safari com.apple.Safari.ContentPageGroupIdentifier.WebKit2StandardFontFamily 'Lucida Grande'
defaults write com.apple.Safari com.apple.Safari.ContentPageGroupIdentifier.WebKit2DefaultFontSize 14
defaults write com.apple.Safari com.apple.Safari.ContentPageGroupIdentifier.WebKit2FixedFontFamily 'Monaco'
defaults write com.apple.Safari com.apple.Safari.ContentPageGroupIdentifier.WebKit2DefaultFixedFontSize 11
Relaunch Safari and those should be new font settings. This restores the font options that Apple's engineers stupidly removed from Safari 6. That's one reason Safari 6 won't be installed on my Lion volumes, among others, such as the unibar URL/search window

    While in Mail, go to the main menu (upper left next to the Apple icon).  Click and go down to "Preferences.)  There, you will see this pane.  Go to Fonts & Colors, and select larger sizes of fonts til you find the one that works for you.

    Well, I did change to a lower screen resolution (1600 X 900) and that helped somewhat.

    How do I enlarge the font in messages received and sent?  I have the font set at "13", but the appearance on my screen is very, very small.  When I try to "customize the toolbar" to look like the tool bar above this message, I am unable to do so.  Please advise.  Thank you.

    Thanks MartinR, yes the Toggle bars can be adjusted so that I can see all the tracks - just in the smallest setting - however this also creates a huge area of grey which serves no other purpose than to "use up screen space". If this is deliberate then there is nothing one can do - since presumably the additional profit made on screen sales is more important to Apple, than the combined annoyance to those working on a 13" laptop. Of course a 15" screen or even 17" screen may make this wastage less obvious. Please indicate that this is all incorrect and explain why it is important to have space waiting "for additional tracks", even if I have no intention of making additional tracks. If that is the answer then perhaps additional space to the left and right of the timeline would be useful in case I wish to make a 30 minute film, so that it could be placed there without having to drag anything. It may be that I am expecting software than can be tailor adjusted, each parameter to the desired level as in professional items and since this is a cheap consumer program it is not possible.
    I bought Final Cut Pro for a lot of money (when it first appeared it was thousands and not just hundreds) but never used it since it was too complicated and tedious, but maybe there, this problem of screen wastage does not occurr, perhaps someone can advise! I could go back and reinstall it, but it was made for 10.2.8 and not 10.6.8 so it would not run on this macbook. I recently bought an old 15" TitaniumPowerbook (from 2005) and despite running at 1MHz the response time on it is "instantaneous" - amazing to not have the almost half second delay on many commands - graphics appear nearly immediately (just 5 milliseconds delay) and this makes working so much more enjoyable, not having the (350ms) stutter of 10.6.8 which we all get used to after our initial disappointment.
    Thanks for your help!

    Only by dropping the resolution in the System Preferences which has limited results.
    With Safari there isn't a whole lot of choices, just a increase in the text on web pages which doesn't hold and tends to distort pages.
    A better option for surfing is Firefox and the Add-ons: NoSquint and Theme Font & Size Changer.
    NoSquint puts two zoom in/out buttons on the toolbar, you can set a global whole web page increase (not just type) and best of all it remembers that zoom setting for that site forever (unless you clear it out)
    Now the other Add-on: Theme Font & Size Changer, allows you to increase the font size of Firefox itself, so the text buttons, google search bar and URL bar is all at a increased font size, making it easier to read.
    On my 17" I got Firefox font size set at a 24 pt and web pages globally set of a defualt zoom of 170%, which appears to me to be twice the size of the type in OS X.
    I also have a deep blue Firefox "persona" that colors the toolbar area, with white type the contrast makes it easier to read for me as well.

  • I have poor eyesight, thats why I use FF, but how can I enlarge icons in FF and Google toolbars in FF5?

    I've had FF5 2 days - OK, but preferred FF3, because the icons are too small, especially Gmail on Google bar. Reload page arrow is too small - and in wrong place!
    I have new add-on which enlarges text on toolbars to 24. That's the size I use to browse too, using Contr. & mousewheel.
    I've seen the instructions on how to make icons smaller, but not larger. I've taken off a lot of icons, hoping the others would grow
    I don't want to go back to IE, hope you can help.
    Many thanks, Ann.
    ps Be nice if you could sort out Realplayer too.....?

    You can look at this extension:
    * Theme Font & Size Changer: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/theme-font-size-changer/
    You can use one of these extensions to set a default font size and page zoom on web pages:
    * Default FullZoom Level: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/default-fullzoom-level/
    * NoSquint: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/nosquint/

  • How do I enlarge the font on web pages

    how do I enlarge the font on web pages so that it stays that way all the time

    Funny thing today Thomas,
    Someone had a link to your site which you mentioned your first virus, the WDEF, and I chuckled as we both had the same experience all these years.
    Anyway Thomas, I call it as I see it and like any IT professional, use the best tool for the job.
    Did you know Steve Jobs used Linux on his renderfarm at Pixar?
    So really what the problem is people's sensibilities, which they shouldn't be worried about because like IE, because of Safari being included on hardware, automatically is the first browser of choice and in no danger of losing market share on Apple hardware.
    However if Safari isn't quite cutting the mustard for a particular person's needs, like this person's situation, they should be informed of a alternate solution.
    Safari doesn't have nearly the amount of customization as Firefox nor the zillions of add-ons to solve just about any issue.
    If people decide not to take my advice that's their choice, and they choose not too, but likely, just in this case, will come to realize the same problem I had with increasing Safari's text size and distortion of web pages.
    Soon as Apple starts paying attention to their needs of their hard of seeing customers better, like myself and others, then I will most certainly recommend Safari over Firefox.

    How to enlarge font in ios6 for mail?  Email was easier to read on ios5.  I can't find the font setting on ios6.

    From the Mail menu bar click Mail > Preferences then select the Fonts & Colors tab.
    You can reset fonts sizes from there.
    Another way to open Mail Preferences, with Mail running, press Command ,  (comma) on your keyboard.
    The Mavericks upgrade may have reset that data to factory settings.

    How can I enlarge the font size in ical which became smaller overnight?  We have a MacBook Pro.  Why did this happen?
    Ruth and Roger

    I finally got the font size issue remedied. I somehow had an add on to make the print large in the address bar. But I have saved your tip to a folder for future reference and thank you so much.
    Now if someone could just help me with this crashing business. I can't isolate it because nothing is constant. I unselected hardware acceleration and this is the longest I've gone without a crash, but I'm not thinking I've got it solved.
    This is on an old laptop running XP. Firefox was running just fine until yesterday morning when I uninstalled RoboForm and installed LastPass. After that I started getting the crashes, yet I'm not pretty sure they have nothing to do with LastPass itself.

  • How do I enlarge my display screen? Not the font, but the displayed screen itself.

    How do I enlarge my display screen? I'm not talking about enlarging the font, but just want the displayed screen to be larger. Thank You.

    Do you mean you'd like the display at a higher resolution?  It should be displaying the default, which is also its physical maximum resolution, unless you set it lower in display prefs.
