How do I ensure my book's images are 300 dpi?

Hey everyone,
I need to submit a book I wrote using Pages to the printer in 300 dpi. I used photoshop to adjust the resolution of the photos to ensure that they are 300 dpi. Unfortunetly when I submit the PDF at "best" quality I still get an error saying that some of my photos are low resolution. I am trying to figure out what is going wrong.
I did notice that the photos in question seem to all have a picture frame. Could that have something to do with it? Or is there something else I am missing?

The actual picture frame will be rendered at 72dpi by the ColorSync filters when generating the pdf.
Steer clear of shadows, reflections, transparency of bitmaps and transparency of vector objects overlapping bitmaps, the fancy frames and 3D charts. They are all rendered at 72dpi by default in OSX.
Pages is not a professional DTP tool. Even though it might look like one with some of the features, Apple has failed to implement nearly every technical requisite to make high quality output possible. The defaults for output are set abismally low and there are no tools to permit consistent, reliable output.
Apple's huge profits come almost entirely from people who can barely manage the basics of day to day computing. That they have not entirely abandoned professional users has more to do with sentiment and a legacy of support than any current corporate business plan.
Don't expect Apple to do anything to rectify the problems. This has nothing to do with iPhones and iPads which are Apple's present and future.

How can you save keynote slides as high resolution (300 dpi) images?

Apparently there is a way to save powerpoint slides as 300 dpi images, with some finagling, but not the mac version. Does anyone know how to do this in keynote? Or is there a relativley easy way to do it with free/cheap software? I can increase the dpi in photoshop, but it doesn't produce crisp images for obvious reasons.

You are using the wrong terminology to describe creating an image file
- dpi ( meaning dots per inch ) is the measurement used in printing to create the number of print dots per inch that will be deposited on to physical media like paper or film   This is done in the printer settings box of the print driver and is dependant on how the individual printer can print..
ppi ( meaning pixels per inch ) is the measurement you need to use when creating the number of pixels in a digital image file. You establish image resolution in Keynote using the inspector;
Keynote > inspector > document > slide size
I can increase the dpi in photoshop, but it doesn't produce crisp images for obvious reasons.
You can resample images in editing applications such as Photoshop or Painter but what you are doing is adding non image information to the image to increase pixel count, this is called noise. As you state this is not the procedure to use in your situation.

How do I create a pdf file that is 300 dpi in Adobe Acrobat XI?

PDF files do not have a "resolution" - they aren't images. The pages are a mix of vector art and text, and raster (pixel-based) graphics. The raster items on a page can (and often do) have different resolutions.

Processing images as 300 dpi jpegs, comes out at 72 dpi.

I've seen two other posts with the same problem with no answer, so I thought I try as well. I am using Ap 2.1. I've processed the images in both the preset jpeg original size with the edit to 300 dpi. I've also made a custom preset with 300 dpi jpegs. Both times the images open in PS at 72 dpi. I processed them as tiffs at 300 dpi and they open in PS at 300 dpi just fine.
I've tripled checked the file-export-versions-JPEG original size-edit-300dpi.
any ideas what's up?

I am repeating a post I made in another topic about this issue -- I would appreciate your thoughts:
I conducted a test that may or may not tell us something, but: I had a project with an imported photo scanned at 600 dpi and saved as a .psd at the time of the scan, before importing into Aperture. If I export that photo as a .psd, then PS will open it with a dpi of 72, but GC will open it with a dpi of 600. However, if I export that photo as a .tif, then both PS and GC open and report it to be 72 dpi?
I am not sure, but I think this is an indictment of Aperture?
Please tell me about the possible impact at any printers you use, since if the print size is specified, and not pixels have been lost, the image will print as you intend? I have some reports this has been seen with iPhoto, but ultimately not an issue, but I have not research with any printers.

Last time I synced my iPhone to the computer via iTunes it deleted my iPhone bookmarks (I dont have the same bookmarks on phone and computer) how do I ensure that the bookmarks that are on both don't get deleted just added

Thr bookmarks that I lost I don't need or want on my home computer and so had deleted them previously from the computer. When I synced it took them Off the iPhone. I am afraid to sync again!

Connect your Device to Computer.
Select your iPhone under "Devices" on the left Pane.
On the right Pane, select INFO tab.
Scroll down to "SYNC Bookmark with" make sure the box is checked. Then select your browser bookmark.
Scroll down to bottom and click the "SYNC" or "APPLY" button.

As far as I know, that is not a function built into Cp5. It looks like some kind of flash animation/widget built otuside Captivate and then imported.
If someone else knows otherwise, please chime in. Or if that widget can be downloaded somewhere, I'd love to take a look at it.

How to epub text on top of images.

I am trying to epub a children's book. I have an basic color and then I bring the image on the page but indented. Then I put the text on top of the image.
I have tried articles and I can't get the text to go ontop of the image. how do I do that. The images are jpegs. I tried png and psd. I tried putting the text on the image in photoshop but when I brought it over to indesign, the text looked terrible.

Text and image would have to be rasterized together, either in Photoshop or in InDesign in EPUB. There is no concept of layering in an EPUB file.
I don't think even fixed layout EPUBs support layering.

Help converting pages document with images over to a 300 dpi jpg file

I'm pretty new to using Pages. I have created a 4 page Pages document with a lot of iphoto images. It's for a elementary school yearbook. The publisher ulitmately needs a 300 dpi jpg file.
How do I convert the pages document into a 300 dpi jpg?
I tried to convert it first to a pdf then to a 300 dpi jpg but when I sent that file over, they said that when they zoomed in, the images all looked blurry.
Any ideas on what to do without having to start all over again? Worst case, I guess I can print out in best quality, scan and save as jpg but there's got to be an easier way.
I'm not a graphic designer, just trying to fuddle my way through so you'll have to go easy on me with the techno speak. Any cliff notes for mac beginners?

The conversion isn't perfect between Pages and Word. The same font is handle differently in the two applications and so are many other things too. If you are concerned about how it looks use Pdf versions instead.

Images with high dpi

I have an aplication that works like a image bank.
It´s displaying images with 72 dpi perfectly, but do not show images with 300 dpi.
There is a limitation in image field type? Can it be adjusted?
The image is being loaded with read_image_file.

Image quality cannot be greater than what your screen can do. At this very moment, I'm not sure that any screen is capable of displaying 300 dpi images.

Error message below. The preview is fine . I can discount the first 2messages as its a new computer so plenty of disk space and upload doesn't seem to be interrupted. I have uploaded to iphoto before. have tried to upload 3times with the same error message. I had to photo my slides with a Kaiser Baas photo maker , which apparently doesn't scan but takes photos in megapixels of the slides. I am wondering now if the format is incompatible though they are jpg files or the colour type wrong. The image files are around 1-3 mb each and 72 ppi. I think I will now scan them properly with a scanner to 300dpi anyway to improve quality.
Apple talks about image files not being too big for uploading but gives no sizing of what too big is?
Error message

2. Low Disk Space. If your computer is running on low disk space, your files may be assembled incorrectly. Create more space by deleting unused files.
3. Unreadable PDF file or image files. Files are sometimes assembled incorrectly due to CMYK or Grayscale color space. Use the RGB color space for best results.

In MMR you can have the price uploaded when ever the price changes takes place and it will flow from the sales order.
