How do I erase all contents of an old Time Capsule

I have an old 500GB TC that I have replaced with a new router and a larger WD external used for Time Machine.  I want to sell the old TC but want to make sure that all my contents are gone!  It doesn't recognize it when I hook it up to the new router, with a ethernet cable directly from the Mac to the TC or with a USB cable directly from the Mac to TC.  What's going on?  How do I delete it if I can't get the Mac to recognize it?  I thought I could use Disk Utility but without being able to get to it, I am lost.  Can anyone help?

Unfortunately, AirPort Utillity on Mountain Lion and the iPad is a major downgrade in terms of what we need to do.
In other words, you cannot use the newer AirPort Utility to go into the settings of the TC without first re-configuring it all over again.
Option two is to try to install AirPort Utility 5.6 for Mac OS X Lion on Mountain Lion.  This article will tell you how:
http://www.macworld.com/article/1167965/mountain_lion_and_the_ancient_airport_ba se_station.html
Please look this over and see if you feel that you can do this.  If not, we'll have to figure out a way to use AirPort Utility on Mountain Lion "as is"

How do you erase all content and settings on my iPad? I've done this 11 time and it won't erase. I now have to wait 1 hour.

You are entering one of two possible codes incorrectly.
    1.  The device's passcode.  If you forgot it, here's the cure:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212
    2.  The Activation Lock (Apple ID and password).  Your Apple ID and password are now required to erase the device - an anti-theft measure.  Here's a writeup about that:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH13695
If you don't have the Apple ID and password, the device will never be able to be erased.

  • How can I erase all content and settings without password

I just bought this iPad from my friend, when I try to erase all content and settings, it asked me about the password of his Apple ID password. But he already forgot it! So how can I erase everything back to the factory setting, like a brand new iPad, has nothing in it. Please help and thank you very much.

That is activation lock and cannot be bypassed. He will have to remember his password, or reset it so you can continue with the restore.  There's no way around this as it is an anti theft feature to prevent thieves from being able to use the device. It would be pointless if you could bypass it.

  • How long does erase all content and setting take

    Hello,
Hi, i want to ask about "erase all content and setting", i have this ipad mini, and its already about an hour from the first time i choose that option, and till now there's nothing happened except this loading screen. Is it normal? Or do I have to connect it to my computer?
    Thank you.

Ohh, okay then, but the progress bar on my ipad hasn't appear yet, just that circle thingy going round and round again.
Do i have to let it be or there's something i could do about it?
    thank you.

  • HT201274 how can i erase all content once my service is off?

i would like to recycle phone. my service has been turned off. when i follow the directions, general/reset/erase all content and settings it prompts me to enter my apple password, then it says "verification failed - the internet connection appears to be offline. Is there no way to erase you content once your service is off so that you can recycle your phone?
    thanks!

It's asking you to sign in because you most likely have find my iPhone turned on. If you can connect to WiFi, I'd suggest turning off find my iPhone by going to Settings>iCloud>find my iPhone. Turn it off and go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and setting. That will fix the issue.

  • How do I migrate multiple sparsebundles from my old time capsule to my new time capsule?

My old 1tb time capsule died on me last week. I bought a new 2tb model. I have put the old disk in an enclosure and I can access the data on it.
The old time capsule was used to backup three Mac's. How do I migrate the three sparebundles to the new time capsule? I want to keep all the backup histories.
I found lots of sites with tips but they all assume that the old TC was used to backup only one Mac.
I run Lion on my main Mac and all time machines were configured to backup via wireless.

    It worked. Kinda. I think.
I did the steps outlined in option 3. It took 2,5 days to do it (maybe because I had already switched to wireless).
Once the copy of the files was complete I actived time machine and selected the new time capsule as my backup. It said there was no backup history. But then it started backuping. Instead of the full disk (as I thought it would do, as it said there was no backup history) it only did about 35Gb. Which was what I had expected. I had just upgraded to Lion. After that backup it immediatly started again and did a backup of 40 Mb. (Why ???).
After that was done I started time machine and all the old backups were there (eg 2010) as a test I restored a file from Jan 2010. And it worked.
So now the other two sparsebundles to do.
@Jolly Giant: Thank you for the help and advice.

    Hi there celiagromga,
It sounds like a restrictions passcode may have been set up at some point. Take a look at the article below for more information.
    iOS: Understanding Restrictions (parental controls)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4213
If you lose or forget a restriction passcode, you will need to perform a factory restore to remove it.
If you continue to experience issues restoring the device, take a look at the process outlined in the article below.

  • How do I transfer info from my old time capsule to a new one

How do I transfer all data from my old time capsule to a new? (latest model)

Are you talking about TM backups??
I would consider carefully if it is not better to start over.. TM becomes more problematic as the backups increase in age.. you can archive off the backups from the old TC if you need to store them.
    Transfer TM backups..

For data .. copy and paste.. but make sure you turn off wireless and use ethernet as it must copy files via the computer.. by wireless this is dead slow.

It should be the same AppleID and password you use to log in here.
I haven't installed Find my iPhone app on the phone?
Installing the app will simply allow you to locate a different iDevice.
You don’t need to use it to locate the iPhone in your hands. If it’s not in your hands, you cannot use the app on that device...
