How do I erase all pics and contacts etc on my iPhone 4?

My sister has given me her old iPhone 4, how do I erase all her pics and contacts etc?

In order to delete everything from your sisters iphone including contact, photos, music etc, please follow these instructions:

After restore, make sure to "set up iphone as new device" and you should be good to go.
Hope I helped.

How do you erase all content and settings on my iPad? I've done this 11 time and it won't erase. I now have to wait 1 hour.

You are entering one of two possible codes incorrectly.
    1.  The device's passcode.  If you forgot it, here's the cure:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212
    2.  The Activation Lock (Apple ID and password).  Your Apple ID and password are now required to erase the device - an anti-theft measure.  Here's a writeup about that:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH13695
If you don't have the Apple ID and password, the device will never be able to be erased.

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your phone. Only if you back up manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
    Do this:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your phone to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your device without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the iPhone for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in itunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

  • HT5661 Im trying to erase all content and settings on my previous Iphone

It is your iPhone. You should know the restriction passcode.

  • HT201274 How do I erase all content and settings on my ipod touch when I don't have my password or the original computer?  I can't figure this out and it is frustrating me.  I need to completely reset my ipod touch. I think it is in dfu mode now

How do I erase all the content and settings on my 8GB ipod touch without the password or the original computer?  This is very frustrating and I think I have it in the DFU mode.  I can't seem to figure out how to completely restore this ipod touch.  Please help.

Did you get a message in iTunes that said iTunes found an iPod in recovery mode? If not then you might have not gotten the iPod in recovery mode. Try using this program to get the iPod in recovery mode:

  • How can I erase all content and settings without password

I just bought this iPad from my friend, when I try to erase all content and settings, it asked me about the password of his Apple ID password. But he already forgot it! So how can I erase everything back to the factory setting, like a brand new iPad, has nothing in it. Please help and thank you very much.

That is activation lock and cannot be bypassed. He will have to remember his password, or reset it so you can continue with the restore.  There's no way around this as it is an anti theft feature to prevent thieves from being able to use the device. It would be pointless if you could bypass it.

  • How long does erase all content and setting take

    Hello,
Hi, i want to ask about "erase all content and setting", i have this ipad mini, and its already about an hour from the first time i choose that option, and till now there's nothing happened except this loading screen. Is it normal? Or do I have to connect it to my computer?
    Thank you.

Ohh, okay then, but the progress bar on my ipad hasn't appear yet, just that circle thingy going round and round again.
Do i have to let it be or there's something i could do about it?
    thank you.

  • How do I erase all of the contacts on my iPhone?

I have an iPhone 3GS and I am running iOS5.
I want to erase my organic contacts on my phone so that I can sync my phone with my PC contacts (from ACT! by Sage) using Companion Link/ DejaOffice software.
Does anyone know how to get the contacts off of my phone?
    Thanks!

from iTunes save all of your contacts in a vcard format. then you need to plug your iPhone into your computer it will start to sync. Select your iPhone>select the last tab at the top of the page where it say Music Photos Videos ect. Scroll Down untill you see where it says import contacts and browse to the location you have all of the contacts stored. go to the bottom and click apply and then sync your iPhone as normal. it SHOULD replace all of them but depending on your SW version you might have to manually select the option to delete all old contacts.

  • How do I erase all of my contacts at once?

I just got my phone, which I LOVE. But when I did the initial sync, I had it sync with Outlook only to realize that it would be pulling all my work contacts in to my contacts on my phone. This is a personal phone and I don't need or want all the work contacts in there. Is there a way to delete all of them out at once and go back and enter the one's I need manually?

Go into your contacts in Outlook where you sync your phone and delete the ones you don't want and then resync. If you need your contacts in Outlook, but don't want them on your iphone, you will want to uncheck the sync with Outlook contacts and then delete them manually on your phone. One at a time. Sounds like you synced your work outlook along with your personal outlook at home? It's easier to go into outlook and delete them and then resync and then uncheck the sync to contacts on your work computer.

  • How do I erase all info and reset my macbook pro to original settings so I can sell it?

Im trying to get my laptop ready to sell and need to erase all my info.  its running 10.6.  Thanks

Follow these instructions step by step to prepare a Mac for sale:
Step One - Back up your data:
           A. If you have any Virtual PCs shut them down. They cannot be in their "fast saved" state. They must be shut down from inside Windows.
           B. Clone to an external drive using using Carbon Copy Cloner.
              1. Open Carbon Copy Cloner.
              2. Select the Source volume from the Select a source drop down menu on the left side.
              3. Select the Destination volume from the Select a destination drop down menu on the right
                  side.
              4. Click on the Clone button. If you are prompted about creating a clone of the Recovery HD be
                  sure to opt for that.
Destination means a freshly erased external backup drive. Source means the internal
                   startup drive.
Step Two - Prepare the machine for the new buyer:
              1. De-authorize the computer in iTunes! De-authorize both iTunes and Audible accounts.
2, Remove any Open Firmware passwords or Firmware passwords.
              3. Turn the brightness full up and volume nearly so.
              4. Turn off File Vault, if enabled.
              5. Disable iCloud, if enabled: See What to do with iCloud before selling your computer.
Step Three - Install a fresh OS:
         A. Snow Leopard and earlier versions of OS X
              1. Insert the original OS X install CD/DVD that came with your computer.
              2. Restart the computer while holding down the C key to boot from the CD/DVD.
              3. Select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu; repartition and reformat the internal hard drive.
Optionally, click on the Security button and set the Zero Data option to one-pass.
              4. Install OS X.
              5. Upon completion DO NOT restart the computer.
              6. Shutdown the computer.
         B. Lion and Mountain Lion (if pre-installed on the computer at purchase*)
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because
it is three times faster than wireless.
              1. Restart the computer while holding down the COMMAND and R keys until the Mac OS X
                  Utilities window appears.
              2. Select Disk Utility from the Mac OS X Utilities window and click on the Continue button.
              3. After DU loads select your startup volume (usually Macintosh HD) from the left side list. Click
on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
              4. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Optionally, click on the Security button
and set the Zero Data option to one-pass.
              5. Click on the Erase button and wait until the process has completed.
              6. Quit DU and return to the Mac OS X Utilities window.
              7. Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Install button.
              8. Upon completion shutdown the computer.
*If your computer came with Lion or Mountain Lion pre-installed then you are entitled to transfer your license once. If you purchased Lion or Mountain Lion from the App Store then you cannot transfer your license to another party. In the case of the latter you should install the original version of OS X that came with your computer. You need to repartition the hard drive as well as reformat it; this will assure that the Recovery HD partition is removed. See Step Three above. You may verify these requirements by reviewing your OS X Software License.

    Hi there celiagromga,
It sounds like a restrictions passcode may have been set up at some point. Take a look at the article below for more information.

    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4213
If you lose or forget a restriction passcode, you will need to perform a factory restore to remove it.
