How do I execute/add a 3rd party extension into a script?

I was wondering if someone could help me run a copyfit extension by MPS at the end of my findchangebylist script? I'm using InDesign CS4/CS6 running on Windows. I'm using the sample script that came with InDesign. Thanks in advance for any and all help.

No. I need to know how to get a script to run MPS CopyFit tool. I can get a script to open the panel for the tool. I need it to actually run the tool itself. Right now we have to click the button and the following dialog boxes.

Not sure if that helps at all. I know it seems trivial but we make close to 100 files a day, everyday and it would be nice to have this included in our find/replace script. This way our files would be "cleaned" and ready to print with minimal room for human error. Skipped steps hurt us big time. Trying to make it as simple as possible by having one script take care of most of our problems all at once. Thanks again for any and all help.

Can I add a 3rd party SSD to a dv7 that has the 750GB Hybrid drive?

I have been given contradictory answers from 2 different HP sales reps.
I am looking to purchase a dv7 with a single storage drive, and will at some later time like to add a second storage drive to the empty bay. One rep told me that both the dv6 and dv7 have 2 empty bays, and I am nearly certain this is incorrect as I've read that people were removing the optical drives of their dv6 in order to add a second disk storage drive. I was also told that if I purchase the laptop with the hybrid drive, I would NOT be able to add a SSD later on down the road because of incompatibility. Another rep told me that if I started with the hybrid drive, I COULD add a second storage drive, in the form of either a SSD or HDD.
I realize that when trying to customize the laptop, it won't allow me to choose both the 750GB hybrid AND the 32GB SSD together, as it forces me to choose either the hybrid alone, or the regular HDD and the 32GB SSD...so perhaps there is some truth to a hybrid and SSD not being able to function together properly???
So my question remains, if I customize a dv7 with only the 750GB Hybrid drive, could I later add a 3rd party SSD without issues?

The hybrid drive is physically just a 2.5 inch laptop hard drive and will leave a bay open. The 32 gig ssd is an mSATA module and is located far away from the hard drives so even if one is present it should not block use of a second hard drive. Here is the most recent dv7 manual. Look at pages 47 and 70.

I believe as long as you have only one 2.5 inch standard SATA drive the second hard drive bay is available for an additional drive. You may need a caddy and cable, however.
What exact model of the dv7 are you looking to purchase? This would help answer more definitely I think. The dv6 definitely does not have 2 hard drive bays, just the dv7.

Sending call to 3rd party VRU from ICM Script

3rd party extensions not working in 2014.1 -seeming disaster!

When I updated to 2014.1 my 3rd party extensions will not activate in Live view. Yes I am using fluid grid layouts. Does anyone know a quick work around? I could not have imagined this happening!!

Previously I was able to create a template with a fluid grid layout, use the extensions to create a menu, etc. and then click on the extension item (in the menu pull down) and make updates from the third party screen. Not having design view, I cannot access the extensions in live view. Regrettably, I have built many sites using these extensions and now it is very cumbersome to edit and create new menu items. The extensions do work fine in sites that are not fluid grid layout, but most of the sites I have created are FGL.

How to add new third party jars into JDev - quick question

Hi All
We have some additional jars needed to include for use with our current ADF application.
These jars are not for ADF components.
These jars are for API calls to other 3rd application.
We're using standalone weblogic to run our ADF app.
How do we include our 3rd party jars in JDev ?
Do we need to include new paths in standalone WLS to pick up these new 3rd party jars in order for our app to work ?

You can add libraries to WLS classpath, but this is not good approach if you need to replace them later(because you must restart WLS to pick new version)
To include jars to ADF deployment, open Model or ViewController project properties and include path(s) in Project Source Paths->Java Source Paths.
Then edit your deployment profile (right click on application -> Application Properties... ->Deployment -> Your Deployment Profile), go to Application Assembly and mark these libraries(also, for each library you can specify target folder, for example "lib")

How do you install and delete 3rd party plugins from Logic 9?

I have been trying to install RX2 from iZotope with no success. I can authorize it in the standalone version but not in logic. I had a previous demo version of it installed and everytime I went to authorize it would point to the earlier version and not authorize and run in demo. I removed a number of files pertaining to it from HD & User/ Library/ Preferences and Audio/ Components and tried reinstalling. Now it doesn't even show up in the plugin list. Can anyone tell me how to clear this up? Also, how to deal with 3rd party plugins. What can I say, no problems with Reaper! Appreciate any help with this. Thanks

The Isotope website isn't very clear about it.. It seems to indicate the Windows version is 32 and 64 bit where as the AU version is 32bit and will work/is compatible with Logic 64bit.. which it will as it will run under the 32 to 64bit bridge... when Logic is run in 64bit mode..but as i said, it's hard to tell one way or the other.
The thing is, if you simply reinstall it.. and then run Logic first in 32bit mode and then in 64bit mode.. it should show up.
Where are you looking for it in Logic?
Does it show up in the AU Plugin Manager? (after, that is you have reinstalled it)

I came across iCloud Keychain, which if enabled, lets you backup keychain passwords and restore on other iOS devices. Also read that 3rd party apps can integerate iCloud Keychain to their apps in order to ensure that the app's keychain items are backed up to iCloud Keychain. Would like to know more on what 3rd party apps can do with iCloud keychain.
Even Appls's FAQ says so:
Does iCloud Keychain work with third-party apps? Yes. Developers can update their apps to work with iCloud Keychain. Passwords saved by those apps are then kept up to date on all devices that use the app and running iOS 7.0.3 or later or OS X Mavericks v10.9 or later.
I couldn't really find implementation details. Please help.

If the the data is stored in the backup, it should restore to the iPad when you restore the backup. If that's not happening, sometimes it's becuase the data is stored on the app's server.
SInce you are not having any luck restoring the backup, I would do a Google search such as this one using thses parameters - without the quotes.

Personally, I do not trust any game that has in app purchases like these games have. It is my paranoid belief that the game developers do not want you to be able to restore your progress.

How to PERMANENTLY get rid of 3rd party Plug-ins in Logic pro 9.

Hi, im trying to get rid of some 3rd party plug-ins on logic, but it only looks like i can disable them. (sweeping them under the rug isn't helpful) This is a problem because i have one version of a plug-in that doesn't work and im gonna get another of the same version (with expansions) to replace it so im concerned that the 2 versions will conflict with one another and i wont get the expansions i payed for. Anyone have a solution to permanently get rid of plug-ins? -Tim

The component files of the third party plugins are in:
Local Drive\Library\Audio\Plug-Ins\Components
You can make a backup of a given component (say in a desktop folder) and replace the component with other version etc.
You can use [Pacifist|http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/mac/12743] as well to install/extract a component from a given installation pack etc.

How to package 3rd party libs into EAR

I have an EAR I am deploying containing an EJB and a webapp. I have third party jars that I need to use from both the EJB and webapp, and so want to just package in as part of the EAR. I do not want to fuss with deploying the third party jars separately, nor do I want to duplicate them into the EJB and WAR separately...
I have the jars in the root of my EAR project, and have the build path set up in NWDS for the EJB and WAR so that the jars are referenced, so I'm ok at build time...
...but I'm getting NoClassDefFound exceptions for the classes in the 3rd party apps when I go to run them.
What do I have to do in my EJB and WAR projects to be able to see the third party jars in the EAR at runtime?

Try putting this in application.xml.
The best option for such type of problem is creating a APP-INF folder under the root.
Sample structure:
ear
      APP-INF
           classes   -- put all class files and properties files
           lib           -- put all jar files
    war
    ejb-jar
Try with this structures. Put all the jar files under APP-INF/lib folder, and the application class loader will pull all the classes and properties from classes and lib folder.
NOTE: I am not sure this folder is recognised in EP server. Weblogic recognises this folder.
Try this once.
In EP server the recommendation is to create j2ee library projects and refer them in the project descriptor files. By specifying thus the server will load them in the application class loader.

Anyone Else Notice How Tempermental the iMac is with 3rd Party RAM?

I recently upgraded my 2007 iMac so Lion could run more smoothly by adding RAM from Crucial.
The machine worked fine for a few days then I started experiencing kernal panics. I suspected my new RAM wasn't seeded properly. The last straw was when I shut down the system to re-seed the RAM and turned it back on, the machine beeped three times at few second intervals (which indicates a problem with RAM) and would not power on.
I moved it to a different slot--still no joy. In an effort to just get the machine started, I tried other 3rd party RAM that was compatible with the iMac that I had lying around. Still no go as the machine would beep loudly and not power on.
I finally found some RAM I had taken out of my 2007 Macbook Pro when I upgraded it. It was the original RAM that had come with the Macbook Pro. It worked like a charm.
But I'd like to upgrade my RAM. Guess I'll have to take a trip to the Apple store and buy from there--much more expensive though.
Anyone else have issues with RAM?

Mac's are not tempermental with third party RAM however they are sensitive to the following RAM issues:
1. Incorrect RAM specifications. RAM specs must exactly meet Apple's specifications, period! Installing incorrect RAM will cause KPs.
2. Unseated RAM. Unseated RAM will cause problems.
3. Failed RAM, this is more unusual however it's possible to have a RAM DIMM be defective of fail at a later date.
The only third party RAM I would not recommend for your machine is Kingston Value brand, this has been troublesome. However if you use OWC or Crucial both are great vendors and sell RAM that works assuming 1, 2 and 3 above.

Cannot enter 3rd-party certificate into SCUP 2011 on Server 2012

I am trying to deploy SCUP 2011 on Server 2012 with a SCCM 2012R2 primary site w/WSUS onboard.
Client is using a 3rd-party Digisign cert from a CA that is trusted through the enterprise. This cert has been imported into the private store and exported as a .pfx to be loaded into SCUP 2011. The Digisign cert is in the TrustedPublishers and Trusted Root
stores.
Administrator registry hack applied for Server 2012
Options of SCUP 2011: Successfully connect to SCCM local site server and local WSUS server. However, when I browse and select the exported .pfx, I am not prompted for a password for the cert, and no certificate information is displayed. Also, there are no
entries in the Trusted Publishers tab.
I am stumped at this point. Any suggestions? SCUP just isn't looking at the cert (which was ordered according to the requirements in the SCUP blog.

A couple of questions...
1. How, and where exactly, did you import the PFX to the WSUS Server (SUP)? Most notably.. the fully-signed cert needs to be in a cert store named *WSUS*, which has been notably difficult to create except when using the WSUS API to create it.
2. You don't need to export the PFX for SCUP, only the CER (provided that the PFX is properly held on the WSUS server); but even so, if you already have the original cert from Digisign, why bother exporting from the store to import... you already *had* the
full cert that could be imported to SCUP?
3. If you're not prompted for the password of the PFX, that suggests that it wasn't exported with a password, or, since no cert information is available, maybe the export failed completely?
