How do I exit Firefox?

Please see and continue with [/questions/955281] ~J99
?????

On Android 4 and higher you can press the app switch button and swipe Firefox (or any other app) to close.
You could install the [https://addons.mozilla.org/android/addon/quitnow/ QuitNow] extension if you need the menu item back.

  • How do I "exit" Firefox, one tab at a time?

This is typically frustrating. Remain calm...It's taken me 30 minutes and this is the third time I've posed this same stupid question: Whatever happened to simple, plain "exit?" Now, one can close a tab, but you can bet that site and all its cookies are still running. Where oh where is "exit?"

So, you mean when you restarted firefox you got your previous session running with all the tabs opened that you have visited previously.
Please check if your Firefox settings are set to open your Firefox from the last windows and tabs.

  • How can I prevent Firefox from cleaning my clipboard at exit (exit or closing firefox) ?

How can I prevent Firefox from cleaning my clipboard at exit (exit or closing firefox) ?
I am using FF 9.0.1 and the problem start from FF 5.0

    You can't prevent that.<br />
If you've placed data on the clipboard in Firefox then you need to paste that data in the other program, if that is your intention, before closing Firefox.

  • Firefox 6 forces you to log into e-mail again & again, since you can't view an e-mail & simply close that tab.. I want to close the tab, not exit the function I am in. How do I uninstall Firefox 6 & go back to the previous version?

With Firefox 6, you can't close the tab you are in and remain in the program; opting to close one e-mail means you are forced to exit the (e-mail) program completely and then go back into it...this is ridiculous if you are trying to read all your e-mails...not have this issue. How do I uninstall Firefox 6 & go back to the previous version?

I am unwilling to attempt navigation away from these sites. The pop-ups that occur on the attempt to leave a site or to close the browser are exit traps offering incentive to stay.
Once upon a time, when the internet was less dangerous, I would be willing to close the exit pop-ups. Now, after twice being infected with malware trying to close the pop-ups, I now force close whichever browser I am using.
Recently, I clicked on the red X to close one pop-up, and it installed a trojan that I had to pay to be removed. When I clicked on 'Leave' in another exit pop, it didn't exit and it turned out I was giving permission to run a script file. Now that criminals have learned these exit pop-ups can be used to force a click action, the sites using them have become dangerous.
If I force the browser to close using Task manager, Please tell me how to stop FireFox from sending me directly back to the same site because it mistakenly believes it crashed when it did not. I forced it to close because I was on a site that had taken control of my browser and was not allowing me to leave the site.
No other browser sends me back to the potentially dangerous sites. I prefer Firefox, but the new version must have a setting that allows me to get safely away from a problem site?

  • How am I supposed to exit Firefox when the "x" at the top has disappeared? I hate this new Firefox!

How am I supposed to exit Firefox when there is no "x" at the top. I seem to have lost everything at the top. I downloaded the new Firefox and have had nothing but problems since. Right now my problem is that I hit "full page" and didn't know I would lose my exit "x" at the top. Now I can't find ANYWHERE to restore the old one.

Try hitting the F11 key. I had this problem and it fixed it for me. It's a toggle that takes it back and forth, showing and not-showing the toolbars. Gives you more space to read the webpages, which on small screens could be a blessing. Hope this works for you!

  • Following the latest upgrade how to exit Firefox without shuting down

Computer type: Mac BookPro Mac OS X Version 10.6.8
I use both the Mac Safari & Firefox browsers for blogging. Since yesterday when I downloaded the Mozilla Firefox upgrade I am unable to exit Firefox at all (no button or tab to select an exit to return to desktop and Safire). To exit Firefox I must press the manual quit button to restart the computer. I need a Firefox exit link out to reenter the Safire browser and desktop without shutting down the computer.

You should see the Firefox menu bar on Mac as that is controlled by the Mac OS and have Firefox > Quit.

  • When I exit Firefox, it continues running in the background. How can I prevent this and keep it from happening apparently by default?

I know that Firefox continues running in the background because after I exit the program, I use CCleaner and it indicates programs are still running: Firefox. This happens every time I exit Firefox. There seems to be a default mechanism to keep it running. How can I prevent this?

  • After I exit Firefox, I keep getting messages that Firefox is still running and I have restart my computer. How can I avoid this from happening?

This happens when I close the internet browser. When i want to go back on, nearly every time, I get the message that firefox is till running, close or restart the computer. Since i have closed it, I continuously have to restart my computer (or switch over to Chrome)

Sounds like it is hanging when you exit and later try to restart Firefox.
