How do i export a sequence to an uncompressed quicktime .mov file?

hello everyone.
I have a little problem.
I have a 20 secs sequence that needs to be exported from my FCP 6.0.3 to UNCOMPRESSED quicktime .mov file. Its HDV footage.
These are the steps I've taken.
I go to FILE>EXPORT>QUICK TIME MOVIE. I have all the settings to current setting, and I have checked the "Make Movie Self-Contained" option.
When I'm done exporting, I get a .mov file, but its a Final Cut Pro file, not a quicktime file.
This means I can't open in a PC, where I have to do some compositing.
I would really appreciate if anyone can give me some advise or tips on how to get my export .mov file to be a quicktime file uncompressed .
Thanks
-r

The Uncompressed 4:2:2 codecs only come with Final Cut Pro. Two ways:
1) In FCP, go to File > Export > QuickTime Conversion. Set format to QuickTime Movie and click Options. Go to Settings under Video and set Compression Type to None. Put all the sliders at maximum. Click Ok, deselect Prepare for Internet Streaming and click Ok. Export the file.
2) This is the one I personally prefer, as it will be compatible with any system, even if they don't have QuickTime. Go to File > Export > QuickTime Conversion. Under Format, select Image Sequence. Go to Options, set Format to TIFF and enter the FPS. Click Export and you will have a series of sequentially-numbered images that most compositing apps will treat like one big movie clip.

You can also use the 3 finger method of COMMAND+SHIFT+4, then drag across what you want to copy from the image. That will show up on your desktop, which then you can edit using Photoshop, if you want too.
You can then change the file format from a PNG to either a .JPG or TIFF or even a Photoshop image.
Make sure, you have stopped the playback, to what you want to save as a still.
Either method works, to make a still image from video.

  • How to play quicktime .mov files on iphone

I would like to be able to play quicktime (.mov) files on my iphone4s but I get a message that my file cannot be played on this iphone.
I created the file in keynote, exported it to a quicktime movie with the manual advance option.
My goal is to be able to use iphone to connect to a projector with a iphone to vga adapter and thus project my presentations from the iphone.
But I cannot import import it using itunes to the iphone.
Wondering if there is an app that plays quick time movies or some other option.
The reason I cannot export from keynote is that it does not give the option for manual advance.
It only provides a fixed time option.

  • How can I mask a TV channel ID on a quicktime movie file?

    Hi
How can I mask a TV channel ID on a quicktime movie file?
You know, in the top right of the screen it may say BBC3.
I would like to blot this out on my Quikctime movie file.
    Thanks in advance

You would need QuickTime Pro and an image editing application.
In TV terminology the onscreen display is known as a "bug" and the best you can do is make a new video track "layer" that would cover it up.
You could make a small image file (solid color) to cover the bug or a mask track that would allow some of the underlying video show through (if the bug is transparent).

  • I have imported and processed photo's in Lightroom 2 and kept stored files on external hard drive.  External hard drive crashed....how do I export photo's from Lightroom when it says 'file not found'?

Folders with photo files are lost due to external hard drive crashing.  Processed photo's are still in LR.  How can I export from LR to a file (any file) that no longer exists?  Help!!!

Well, no backups, the technical term for that is "a problem". I think from this point forward, you need to commit yourself to making regular automated backups of all of your photos and catalog file to different physical disks, no excuses.
Your photos are not stored in Lightroom. However, Lightroom does create "previews", this is what you are seeing, but these are usually smaller and low-quality compared to the originals. There are plug-ins that can extract the previews from Lightroom. One such plug-in is here robcole.com - PreviewExporter

  • Exporting FCE sequence to QT (uncompressed), losing quality

    Howdy,
Using FCE HD 3.5, I have edited a sequence, and it looks great in the viewer in FCE. But, when I export to QuickTime movie (no markers, either self-contained or not) I notice that things get, well, fuzzy. Best I can describe. Like old video tape, not blocky digital artifacts.
There are not many choices when exporting in this manner. For giggles, I tried exporting an AVI using QuickTime converter as well, but to no avail.
I'm about to fire up a FCP system here at work, but if the output quality is anything like this, I'll have to go Avid (or God help me, Premiere. Ok, it isn't THAT bad).
Please help, as I really like the Final Cut interface.
iMac 2Ghz Core 2 Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   Likes walks in the park and the beach at night

I hadn't (and don't have the equipment to do so). I did look at a DVD created from the file, and it is G-D AWFUL! Horizontal lines off of points of light (not visible within FCE), and looks like a thrice-copied VHS. Not Good times.
I've been combing the board, and saw something about "square pixels in reference to NTSC. So I exported to h.264, and it is better than the native DV file, which I find odd. Also odd is that one of my edits changed! A video insert cut changed from the video I had marked to a different point in the source video entirely. Very weird. I am sure it has nothing to do with h.264, but I haven't touched the sequence since this began, so that has me puzzled.
    Thanks for the reply

  • QuickTime mov file disapears after exporting !

After having done this successfuly a number of times, when I try to export a FCP4 project using QuickTime conversion, the sequence renders all the way untill 100%, but the box does not close and the file just disapears... however it's space is used in the hard drives... Can someone please help ?

    Hi Brian
thank you so much for your help !
I still don't fully understand waht really happned...
But I think the problem was solved...thanks to you.
I firstly tried to do exactly what you suggested: Exported the project as QT, then quited FCP, dragged the file into Compressor's Batch window, told the compressor to make a MPEG2 frm it... and here it stoped working...Submit ws subdued and I could not make it work...Then I took a look at the file QT had exported...it was a 303Mb FCP movie, not a QT.mov file, and the sequence was about 4.5 Gb !
    Here I tried something else:
First, from FCP, Printed the sequence to video. Then captured it to FCP again to a new project, through Log and Capture, this time it did not need rendering and in the Capture Scratch folder after saving the new project was a QT.movie file; Dragged it to Compressor and made a MPEG2 file...
On the phone with the project's author I heard for the first time the original QT.mov files he gave me were in fact exported from iTunes under MacOS 9.2...I don't know if this can mean anything, since I have worked before with QT files exported from iTunes with no problem...
Can you please give me your insight about all this ?

  • 1080p 25fps exported to 1080p 23.98fps uncompressed Quicktime that stutters every second

I am authoring a blu-ray and the QuickTime file of the feature is 25fps. I didn't think it would be a big deal and just set Premiere to export the 25fps timeline to a 1080p uncompressed QuickTime at 23.98 but the picture hiccups every second like clockwork.
Can anyone tell me how to get around the frame skip hiccup when converting a PAL 25FPS HD file to a 23.98? Thanks in advance!

    is retiming an option?
in the 90's when I was doing commerical dvd authoring in Australia (PAL) our masters were often from NTSC telecine transfers.
We re-interpreted the video as 25 from 24 and then speed and pitch shifted the audio.
It's a pretty common method. For example the NTSC DVD release of "The Thomas Crown Affair" (Brosnon version) obviously used 25fps audio retimed down to 24fps for the titles and then a different audio file at 24fps for the feature because the loop music in the title matches the opening credit music and you can hear it drop pitch when you go from the menu to the feature.
If that isn't an option then you're pretty much going to have to put up with the stutter since you're dropping 1 in 25 frames on the floor.

  • CS6 won't export movies with previously exported Quicktime .mov files in them?

On several different projects now, I've made videos which include previously exported CS6 Quicktime .mov clips in the timeline. When I go to export these new projects, Premiere will start compiling and exporting for a few moments, but then will stop and freeze up the program or even my Mac, or it will show an error message. I've tried changing my settings and everything. The only way my projects will export correctly is if they contain NO old .mov files. I'm trying to do a demo reel, so I kind of need those old files. They aren't even old, I exported them out of CS6 a few months ago. Why isn't Premiere exporting correctly and is there any way to fix this?

There are files, and there are files... the important thing is what is inside the file?
MOV (or AVI or MP4 or ???) is a wrapper that may contain many things... not all of those things edit well
Report back with the details of your file, use the program below... A screen shot works well to SHOW people what you are doing

You should also compare EXACTLY what is inside a file that works -vs- a file that doesn't work
